Ed rumours of us looking at Santiago Sosa any truth in this or no go die to a work permit issue.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest Eddy but it would take significant money to ensure a WP and Tameze is a far more obvious option to replace Gueye.

With the transfer window open tomorrow and the planned activity program of Brands and Silva apparently been long in the creation, is the main priority clearing out as surely that must take place before purchases are made.
Looking at the squad that has become swollen due to panic buys and poor decisions by former managers, I reckon there are about 26 players that may be surplus to requirement.
With his knowledge of the contracts and transfer system ED002 has often said it is more difficult to move players on than we, as fans, would like.
If we split this group into "batches", retirements and end of contract takes in Baines, Jagielka, Williams, Pennington and Hewelt.
The next "bunch" are those with only 12 months left on their contracts - McCarthy, Galloway, Mirallas, Niasse, Steklenburg and Garbutt - these would have minimal sell on value.
Next is the ones probably difficult to shift with 2 years left - Schneiderlin, Sandro Ramirez, Bolasie, Lookman, Besic, Walcott, Conolly, Robinson and Dowell.
Out of the others that appear to be "out of favour", they have deals till June 2022 - Vlasic, Kenny, Oneykuru, Gueye, Tosun and Baniginime.
I say Gueye because he was obviously desatabilised in January and teams will come in for him.
Main point is, if 26 out and he wants a more competitive first team squad, how difficult is it going to be to shift some or all of these before we even get to the point of Moshiri sanctioning big outlays for targets.
Sorry for being long winded but I've long believed this is where we have the biggest problem.

The best approach for us supporters is to just sit back and enjoy the ride.
I have faith in our manager and DOF and don't believe anything written in the press so like the season just gone, I will assess it when the window closes.
Besides, we have a few older players on big wages who aren't upto the job so I'm sure west ham will buy half a dozen of them.

Definitely agree GB and Smit let's leave it to them, they know what they want and need, Marcel would have been doing his homework and overtime. Think we are all going to enjoy this summer and look forward to that first game of next season.

It will be a slow process getting rid so don't expect an exciting ride.

Good post YG.

This would be a pretty boring site if everyone who gave an opionin was met with - Don't worry about it - type answers lol.

You have Baines and Jags as people to move on, if either of them wanted stay on an extra year I would be very happy to have them, both good back up players. I am not sure whether they would be interested in playing second fiddle though. Has it been confirmed they are not resigning?

All of the players with 12 months left I would like to see move on.

2 years left, Schids I would keep. Played well recently and if Gana goes I think he would get a lot of game time, if he keeps his good form. Sandro not seen enough of to comment really, but I don't think he has even been given a chance to prove himself. But I would trust Silva and Brands in what ever the decision. Lookman I would really really like to keep. I always think he plays great when he comes on, I really don't understand why he doesn't get more game time.

I would also keep all of the "out of favour players". All are young and have great potential. Obviously Tosun is a bit older, but again I would like to see him given more of a chance.

I do understand your point of the post though. We have a lot of players who are cost the club money in wages that need to be moved on to make space for new players. So realistically it would be 2 or 3 or posibly more players to move on to get 1 big signing. I am hopeful a lot will move on though. It is going to be a very slow process so even just left down to letting players contracts run out, plus 1 or 2 sold, I think over the next 2 years we will do OK.
