Jelavic could be on his way to Hamburg this week according to reports in germany. Money could be used to bring in Jermaine Defoe, proven goalscorer. Raytheblue

If he's not good enough for spurs why is he good enough for us?.

I would keep jelavic did well first season - he has got to be given to the ball to attempt to score - if we did nt have him in the jan - we would not of been where we were

Defoe will never come up North!

Would keep jelly before bringing in Defoe. He needs to be given a chance under the new manager and system!

I would have jumped at chance of Defoe 3 years ago mate, not now though, big wages better spent on a hungry younger striker

I would take defoe all day long he's a proven goalscorer regardless of his age. he was spurs first choice forward last season

Rather have Jelavic mate.

If Defoe were 5 years younger this might be a good move. But we'd get two seasons maximum out of him. No over 30s please Roberto!

Hes only 2 years older than kone and would cost round about the same price. he guarantees goals

Id have defoe he's fast he scores goals that's wot u want in a striker

Have faith in felli, second season syndrome! Was making all right runs, creating space. Watch him play, top footballer despite bad season goal record! Still always looked like he'd score and got in scoring positions!

He had a bad season last year because moyes ruined him

Really! me personally I would give him next year overworked by moyes last year his job is to score goals not work back and chase down full backs, yeah close down but not to the extent that moyes was makin him was always shattered by the time he recieved the ball, just my opinion

Moyes kills good strikers by telling them to drop deep to support midfield and collect the ball. Jelavic is an out and our poacher, his movement off the ball is top notch. Let him stay up high and around the area and he's top class. Moyes prevented that, under Martinez I think we'll see him back to his best playing the out and out forward role.
Ask yourself why our strikers are always great the first season. It's because Moyes hadn't ruined them yet. Remember that Yakubu guy, pretty prolific first season if I'm not mistaken.

james beatie. andy johnson. the yak. now jelly and there must be more. FACT moyes destroys strikers mainly playing 5 in midfield because in 10 years could not get 4 in midfield he trusted. it was time for a change let's hope dithering davie has RVP running after fullbacks. RICHIE HUYON BLUE.

I've been such a big fan of Jela from the start, and although he was not as good last season - some of the goals he did score were decent team/solo goals - I believe him and Kone upfront with Mirallas and Deulofeu (spelling) can make us a dangerous attacking side - especially under Martinez, come on you blues!

Every one one of you spot on, except for woodsy. every goalscoring striker moyes ever bought from beattie, to Johnson, the yak, to jelavic Christ even the strac had a reputation for goals, he destroyed there confidence by turning them into marathon runners running channels and chasing hoof balls from the back. No wonder there confidence was shattered and they were goosed when they got into the box. Goalscorers are paid to score goals full stop. You should build your team around a natural goalscorer, not have them chasing about like a trump in a colander wondering which hole to go out of.

Just like u was all kissing moyes arse for 11 yrs now he ruined all our players, get real and admit jelly is crap and slow, did well when he signed now the defenders know how to play him, ie let him have more than one touch, if we can get 8 million for him we would be fools not to sell

I think Jelavic will come good too personally but regard less I think selling him now would be foolish. His value must be at it's lowest it has ever been at Everton. He is unlikely to have as bad a year as last year, so if he pops scores a few but we still aren't feeling he fits the bill his price will unlikely fall and may even rise. If he starts smashing em in, which I think is possible with the supply I hope/expect from us next season even better. That seems win, win to me.

Totally agree with Jimmy, Moyes ruined all our strikers with his negative ways.
Agree0

His problem is confidence. Lack of goal long time make him like this. So pre-season RM. must send him to find himself.
Agree0
Disagree0
Even though didn't score much, still worked ass off, got in the right positions, held ball up and created space for others. It's just confidence, everyone has a bad spell, the phrase second season syndrome could describe it, still great player and will come good and start to score, best striker we have had in a long time, think back! This site is full of fickle fans, I thought we were better than that, come on Jelly!
Agree0
Disagree0
Look where we came last season without him scoring, then look at our record after Jan season before when he came and scored for fun, if we stick with him and are able to combine both (he starts scoring but team still contributing) we will a serious force! Have faith and start believing, we are so close to be a competing team, we only need to correct a small number of areas which is feisable and possible, if we do, we will be up there, just on the edge at the moment, if we get it right we will be competing with best, get it wrong it could go spectacularly bad, but I have hope that we can make the most of the position we are in and rise to the top!

The fans have spoken Jelly must stay, he'll come good, tell Hamburg to stick their £6 million, why sell a proven goalscorer he just needs to get his confidence back and he will under Roberto!.
