Who would we buy that would adequately replace Jagielka and leave enough change to make the replacement financially worthwhile?
If we sold Jagielka for £16m, I'd expect us to retain £8m to boost our transfer funds for other targets, meaning we'd limit ourselves to £8m to find a centre-half, which would mean a gamble on some no-mark Cameroonian from France in all likelihood.
Jack Rodwell is a player we could afford to lose and not replace, for example. Jags most certainly is not. {Ed025's Note - gary cahill is availiable..so is scott dann..but knowing us...upson will be top of the list...cos hes free..

Totally agree. kenwright would use £15m to service debt and give moyse £1m. Its probs why we have signed that eric dier from lisbon on loan again. {Ed025's Note - if i was moysie...i would insist on all incoming monies...to be used on new signings.

Cahill you wouldnt get for less than 15m, scott dann is a kopite and got relagated last season, not good enough and upson is way past his best and also got relagated last season
None of the above are a suitable replacement for jags {Ed025's Note - iv said before..he is irreplaceable...and at the moment..theres not a lot out there.

Well Rodwell is supposed to be a CB, could see him move there gradually. Him and Heitinga taking it in turn, could work out, plus there woukd be £20m for a striker, thoughts Ed? {Ed025's Note - money for a striker would be good..but personally,i would rather lose one of them guys..than jags.

Sebastian bassong yes he hasnt really played for tottenham but that means he will be cheap and he was great for newcastle in his first season

Moyes would probs go for Onuoha at Man City. He wanted him as part of the Lescott deal but city dint wanna sell. If we do sell i wud use Rodwell and spend every penny on Sturridge 2 top class up and coming England players with the experianced players already in the team {Ed025's Note - good call mate...that would do for me..

If we did sell Jag's, we'll end up getting short changed, because we always do....and whatever fee we got, would never be enough to replace a player of his quality.....BK will end up slotting some of the dough anyway for the debt..... so for fxcks sake Moyes'y, DON'T SELL JAGS {Ed025's Note - and that goes for all of us!

Wouldnt want to see Jags go, but if an offer of 18mil came in, I would say so long mate. We have Heitinga as a ready replacement, and there are some decent CB's out there, but we have Rodwell (who has ALL the attributes to be a top CB not defensive mid) and Duffy and Mustafi as back up. Everytime I see Jags with the ball it is like having my heart in my mouth, it is terrifying, so uncomfortable on the ball, and 90% of the time ends up hoofing it up the field giving it back to the opposition. {Ed025's Note - got to disagree mate..i think he marshals the defence very well..for me, he is the lynch-pin, his positional sense is very good, and i dont think his distribution is as bad as you make out....but everyone is entitled to their opinion..

I for 1 would be shocked if we were to sell Jagielka for less than 20m. Dann would be a good replacement, most people believe Birmingham got relegated because he got injured. Cahill would be ok to. But Upson is shocking, past his best Ed he was never a good player. Hope we keep Jags, but would not sell for less than 25m/30m. {Ed025's Note - i argee mate

The only players we should be looking to offload is Yak who is not fit enough and to heavy. Yobo who has no interest in playing for us anymore. Bilyaletdinov because after 2 seasons he is still no closer to getting a grip with the pace of premier league football and is to slow. Anichebi who has 1 goal in 2 years and spends more time sniffing the grass than he does playing on it. These are now dead wood. Would be happy to get rid of these 4 to bring in Inzogbia and a loan striker ? Dont want Bedtner who does not score enough or Long who is unproven at this level they are not good enough. I know about Welbeck and Sturidge but both there clubs say they not going out on loan. Any other thoughts on a realistic striker we could get on loan Ed. {Ed025's Note - defoe..or pavlechenko, from spurs maybe...not many good ones out there!..

Billy has to start showing us the billy from russia on youtube, I like him when he comes on, the crosses and passes are second to none when he wants to play.

Vic isnt a forward anymore i dont think, hes better when hes drifting in from the right because he does course alot of trouble for the defenders.

Iam not one for the argument sell 5 to bring in 2 due to the small squad with already got, I cant see any harm in us not buying this summer (although would be nice) and brining in so off the younger lads for the first half of the season.

we all know rodwell will go in the summer if not this window and to be honest as much as it does atract players to the club season without europa league was ok for us last season and going to be better this one. Heading to the but end of the world to play a bunch of farmers and then playing man utd at the weekend isnt good for any team.

Hypothetically lets say we sell Yobo (3mil), Yak (3mil), Billy (8mil) and Anichebe (1-2mil) we would have 15mil. Spend 10mil on N'Zogbia, and have 5mil for a striker. Or, personally what I would prefer Holtby for 6mil and have 9mil for a striker (Defoe maybe). But this is football manager stuff, just face it, come aug 13 there will be no new faces in our squad and possibly 1 or 2 exits, and yet, the current squad will still say how good the squad is. {Ed025's Note - the team is good...the squad...a little bit short, the only player i can see leaving is yobo..and we might get a loan signing in..

I think the Yak looked good during the game against Bury, he ran for 90 minutes, can't remember the last time he did that He looks like he has been on Weight Watchers

I think Bily has looked good the last 2 games in pre season, where he has played as CM his natural position

We have got some great youngsters breaking through into first time, Gueye, Vellios, Barkley to name a few

I would be happy if we brought in one more striker and a left sided winger, and a left back cover COYB

all names are still avaliable for printing i dont want to put a downer on that but i dont understand why people post obvious liess rodwell, yakubu and yobos names have been on the website to be printed the whole time i know because everytime i have seen one of those posts i have checked. now to the stupid rumours where people have 8 players in and 8 out this isnt going to happen i reckon the only deals will be yobo and mucha out and nzogbia in with the yak to stay as our new number 9

Don't need to rely on my word, if you check the club shop online, Yak and Yobo are at the bottom despite being number 4+22, every other player is in correct order, numerically.

They were removed form the site, I checked myself, the confussing bit is rodwell was playing in the no 4 jersey when we played phily

As a very close friend of 2 first teamers (LO & TH) the word and understanding within the camp is that NO players are needed. Gueye is apparantely flying in pre-season, both playin out wide left and upfront. Shane Duffy and Ross barkely are literally like signing 5Mil+ rated players. Yobo will go to OM for 3.5mil, Yak no offers. Jags has been promised captain after this season and IS NOT for sale.
NO permanent signings so get over it, EITHER Wellbeck (90% chance) or Macheda (10% chance, as he doesnt want to come) will come on season long loan, and is part of a future agreement for £15mil + add ons for Rodwell to sign in July2012.
NO BIG signings and me for one am happy for it, trust the signings we made 2 or 3 years ago and coming through... one at least (Barkley) is literally gonna be world class.

How can you be happy with the squad now? Our top striker was our attacking midfielder with 9 goals in the PL and missed close to half of the season. We have one proper winger (Gueye) in our entire squad. And we have no cover for Baines at LB. There are plenty of holes in our squad right now and youth wont fix it all {Ed025's Note - i aree with you....but it looks like we will have to make do...with what we have got!..

Yours nuts if you think there will be that much activity. The most that will happen is the Yak & Yobo might go for about 7m combined. Inzogbia to come in for about 10m and a striker ?? on loan. If Inzogbia comes in possibility Billy will go back to Russia on loan with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season. {Ed025's Note - you may be right....but even that seems too much activity to me...
