Apparently according to a few rags we are signing 17 year old defender Matthew Foulds from Bury. don't know much about him but is it just me or is the club obsessed with young defenders? We seem to have loads of young quality defenders (Garbutt, Stones, Galloway, Browning, Pennington, Holgate etc) but not a lot of quality young attacking players coming through.

Agreed mate, not a single winger, striker or attacking midfielder looks like coming through the academy. Do we have any decent one's? .

we seriously need to addressing the goalkeeping issue, its a big concern now.

{Ed025's Note - your right 44, the time has come for us to upgrade..a keeper who uses his hands or something.. :)

24 Oct 2015 22:19:13
We've got that Tom Davies as well, but most of the youngsters of note seem to be defenders. The senior goalkeeper problem needs sorting, I wonder if that Russell Griffiths will make it in a few years time, he started for the England youngsters a few weeks ago.

{Ed025's Note - we need a new keeper now tommy, the guy is a liability and costing us points hand over fist mate, for me we heed to promote joel until january and then purchase a top one..

24 Oct 2015 23:05:12
Exactly my thinking Ed, who knows we could be lucky and Joel could prove himself and we mightn't need to spend. Won't know unless he gets a chance. Far better alternative to Howard.

{Ed025's Note - MR bean would be a better alternative to tim NBTB..

What really worries me is that when Jags went off they had the gaul to give the arm band to TH talk about rubbing it in, he already has dillusions of granduer without adding to it. Furthermore when Robles kept 3 clean sheets he was dropped as soon as TH was fit, more management as far as I am concerned.
Man U got rid of him years ago and while he has served us well I have never had great confidence in him and he is now one of the poorest keepers in the PL.

Who would anyone fancy to buy in January to replace Howard?

25 Oct 2015 14:49:54
When Howard was injured Robles played like a man possessed, probably because he knew he was in for a run of games, and he had to impress. Who knows, maybe if he has a good game on Tuesday the manager will consider him for a PL start. He must however show he is willing to command his area and come for crosses, otherwise there'll be no reason to change.
I personally like Robles and given a real opportunity I think he could make it, which, because of his age, would solve our goalkeeping problem for a long time.
We would still though, need to look for a back up keeper as I would put Howard out to grass.

Agree entirely Tommy, we have plenty of decent young defenders on the books, and continue to buy more, yet rarely do the more attacking players come through the ranks. CM seems to get a chance pre-season but then gets put back in the U21's or loaned out. Henen is meant to be a good prospect but how near is he to the first team?
We have enough talented defensive youth players coming through, let's see some of the more attacking players given a chance in the league cup games.

Much has been written regarding the health of Bill K and I also hope he makes a full recovery but just as we are kept constantly in the dark over everything EVERTON I think someone sould have issued a statement re Bills health if only to stop speculation.
Furthermore as we have been looking for a new owner for many years and it is supporters like myself who have supported the BLUES for 60 years that are the real owners even if name only and deserve greater respect than we receive from EFC.
A point I do not think that has been made and is quite interesting is the true facts re Bills health may come to light next Thurs as not turning up for HK 's funeral would be a significant sign .
A side issue is I was told that the lord mayor was going to give us a update in Oct re the Walton Hall Park proposal, have I missed it!

Firstly I hope Bill is well and that they are just rumours about his health as I know he loves the club. The stadium issue I cannot see a good message coming on it, I hope and pray that the club will change ownership soon and when I say that it's nothing personal against Bill but simply to do with Everton moving forward we need owners that will invest and have the skills to attract investment for a new stadium. When I look at Bill I see a man who has a deep passion for the club although he made mistakes he did save us and I hope that is his legacy which is a respectful one. Football has changed and without investment our great club with fade away and that is the reality of it I know some people are afraid of change but it's the only way we can start competing for titles again there is too many clubs ahead of us in the money market. I don't like what football has become but that's just the way it is so we have to move with the times it's the only way we can be up there challenging again so yes I hope and pray that we will wake up to some exciting news some morning like Man city fans did if that is wrong well then I don't want to be right this board has taken us as far as they can it's time for a new chapter in the Everton story and I hope it's one we don't ever want to stop reading. Coyb If Bill is sick I hope he gets well soon.

{Ed025's Note - i used to think the same stef. investment investment investment. now, i'm not so sure, do i want the club to become a money pit for some soulless, faceless conglomerate? or do i like my club the way it is, a david amongst the every thing i hate about football goliaths?

i'm slowly coming around to thinking that i enjoy being the underdog, finding rocks and polishing them to become gems gives me enormous satisfaction, and when we kick the arse of the so called bigger teams with squillions of pounds there is no smugger feeling, i want everton to stay everton, the family club. the peoples club, i know a lot wont agree with me mate, but i dont really care. :)

If it was me I would not appreciate the whole world knowing about my health problems. I would expect a rebuttal if the illness is not serious or nonexistent but if he has major problems I would hope that the press, supporters etc. would leave him alone to take whatever measures is required for a full recovery. If it is so major that he is unable to fulfill his role as Chairman then I would expect him to hand over the reigns to someone else either on a temporary or permanent basis depending on the severity of the illness. Either way he does not have to go into personal details of his illness.
Having said all of that I hope Bill makes a full recovery,
Mike.

{Ed025's Note - thats exactly my view as well mike..

23 Oct 2015 16:05:02
Whilst we would all wish a full recovery for Bill Kenwright, it is a fact that those who hold sway at goodison, practice the mushroom aproch to the supporters ( keep them in the dark and sh. on them at all times) where did the 225m asking price come from? has an offer below this been made and rejected?, and, if Bill has a long term condition, are we going to have the same 10 years of drift, as happend with the long term decline of sir john mores? who is taking the day to day decisions? These are all, in my view, reasonable questions, but am not holding my breath for an answer.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are talking about a major company here JCW..not a barrow on a flea market!, of course people are in place to deputise mate, the fee for the club is not a figure clutched from thin air, financial experts have calculated the value and it is what it is, sometimes as fans we think with our hearts rather than our heads..

23 Oct 2015 16:27:09
That's your opinion ed and you are entitled to it, but not all takeovers have being bad but when it eventually happens and if we start winning titles again you will be jumping up and down with delight I understand what you are saying but Everton is too big a club mate to stay the underdogs and maybe that's my problem see I don't see Everton as underdogs although I know the opposition I still expect us to beat everyone I know that's not reality but it's how I feel when play teams. But in reality I know a takeover is our only real chance Goodison has had its day we need a new ground but it's not just about us ed it's about the younger generation of Evertonians success breads success and I want my son to experience the good old days when Everton where cream of the crop like I did I want Everton back where they belong and if that takes a foreign owner to come in and do it well then so be it but I respect your change of feelings mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you feel how i used to feel stef...but just imagine us winning the league with this sort of team and with our antique stadium?, improbable i grant you, but the dream lives on mate.. :)

23 Oct 2015 16:47:59
If we could win the league ed with the team we have now I would never want a takeover and if I taught Goodison park would last another 100 years I would never want a new stadium but as you say the dream lives on mate and at the moment it's only a dream but one day maybe a reality again but time will tell but Bill won't just sell to anyone he will make sure the club will keep its tradition and Everton in the community he will have it all in the contract believe me he won't let go and just say a well feck it I guarantee it.

not all takeovers have being bad, but when it eventually happens and if we start winning titles again you will be jumping up and down with delight. fair point but what if we don't win titles what if we get relegated.

think about how many clubs have been taken over, how many have won titles, compared to how many have had problems, been relegated, 1 thing I know is bk is a blue, he wants efc to win titles again. now if an offer came in from someone who he thought could get efc in a position to win these titles, I have no doubt at all he would sell the club.

we know and he knows he can't fund that, but until someone comes in with that bid, I am happy with bk. he gets lots of stick which in my opinion is unfair. he saved us from pj who nearly got us relegated, so close in fact it was goal difference on the last day that kept us up, to bk getting us were we are now.

so bk sells to a billionaire who just wants to own a club or a billonaire who wants to take efc to the next level. you can count on half a hand how many of the latter are in the premier league. be careful what you wish for.

Very very well said toffeeblue. Agree with every word. Ed I like your outlook there too. If, and its a big if, Everton won the league with the way the club is being run now you couldn't win it in a more sweeter way.

Back when the big bucks started coming into the premiership and clubs were being bought and spending massive amounts of money people were questioning whether money can win the league. In hindsight we all know now it certainly can.

We also know it can ruin a club. Moyes and it now is starting to look like Martinez can cope with a small budget and unearth good players without spending £30m or £40m. If the club could keep improving by being shrewd in the transfer market and so on. It would be fantastic to be successful without a major investment.

As you say Ed we can dream. Otherwise I can't think of anyone better than BK at the helm to keep this great club on the right path. And if a prospective buyer does come along as toffeeblue points out you can bet it'll be a winner because BK won't sign over unless it is.

He's no way perfect like the rest of us but imo there is no one on the planet that could do a better job than BK at Everton. All these people who want him out, please tell me who is going to do better? What is the alternative?

Bet they haven't even considered that. All the while it is Bill himself who is on the lookout for a better alternative. If anyone can get it no doubt it will be Bill himself.

Get well soon, the big boss of Goodison, Bill Kenwright.

{Ed025's Note - good post that mate.

Unless they introduce a system wereby points are subtracted relating to the amountvof money spent we are never ever going to get near winning the league. We have to accept that it is purely now based on who has the most money wins, sad but true.
I for one don't want to be happy accepting we are a good club, excellent morals but will never win.
we must get new owners or introduce a super league for the big spenders. How depressing is all this. Was great when in August virtually anyone could win the league.
