Hi Ed as I said before, those crosses from Geri were superb and Rom is nowhere to be seen also Stones was poor if we could get £50 mill for him we should sell him this window far too many mistakes, I have been a fan of Everton since the sixties and this tripe takes the biscuit, change of management would help too before any proposed takeover, GuernseyBlue.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - not often i have said this GB, but rom was poor today, he looked like a guy who did not want to be here for me, if his head has been turned then i want him gone myself mate, and take ross and stones with you if thats all they can offer, i would love them all to stay but everton are bigger than them and if they dont want to be here then adios for me..

24 Jan 2016 23:55:22
Well said Ed25 spot on mate.

It's all well and good saying this player can go or that player doesn't want to be here. But I really believe that, with a decent manager who can set up a team with a good balance of attacking and defending, can get this group playing good football. The manager is clueless, we can all see that now. He is the problem, the one that is making them look decidedly average with his inept tactics and his tippy tappy football. I'm afraid nothing will be done for another week or so, at least until we know how the due diligence has gone.

Agree5 Disagree2

25 Jan 2016 00:29:44
Fair play ed totally agree get 150m and invest 100m in 7 quality players with desire and hunger if today's performance anything to go by. The PL is so poor this year if we hadaproper defence and manager we'd b top of the pile. Look at Leicester no super stars just good quality grafters.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jan 2016 10:37:25
Sorry guys I am sticking up for Rom, admittedly he didn't have his best game but Swansea put two defenders on him and marked him out of the game. It is very easy to nutralise our attacking threat. Delboy put some great crosses in but we cannot just rely on one player to put the ball in the back of the net all the time.

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Jan 2016 14:00:44
I have to disagree with you sa90. Rom has all the attributes of a quality striker but he is too easily bullied if he isn't in the mood. Ashley williams was moving him off the ball far too easily! I agree 2 defenders vs him should be a struggle but do you see Aguero get moved off the ball as easy as Rom? He needs to be stronger and take a leaf out of Drogbas book! Throw the odd dive in. I don't think he was 100% to blame for the loss but he is to blame for not attacking crosses! Costa scored a goal from a similar ball on Sunday and it was all because he attacked the ball! We do not follow up and we lose too many 2nd balls. Poor performance yesterday and must be made right against Man City or that will be the final straw for Martinez with a large majority of the fans.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Jan 2016 14:06:46
Ridiculous, Rom has one bad game so get rid as he clearly isn't up for it. Brilliant, reminds me of Real Madeid fans booing Ronaldo if he goes half an hour without scoring a goal. Is this it? Are we now getting rid of players and saying they don't want to be here after one bad game in which he had 2 defenders glued to him and left isolated by Barkley YET AGAIN. I don't question Rom's commitment one bit, he's bulldozed us through this season, but because he has one game were he wasn't at his best then he is automatically not up for it and needs selling. Absolute joke, Stones can go, walking the ball when 2-1 down is unforgivable as can Ross "the new Zidane" Barkley, Rom however is the one who I would do everything to keep. We will miss him when he's gone and we go back to having a 9-10 goals a season striker like Jelavic, give me Rom's "not trying" 25+ goals a season over that.

Agree5 Disagree1

25 Jan 2016 15:04:45
I agree with swan. Without rom we would be bottom this season. Okay so we sell them for 150mil. Who could we buy that's better than the 3 of them that would actually want to play/ graft for us. To be honest out of them 3 the only one we could sell would be stones. We don't have cover for rom or Barkley.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jan 2016 15:14:52
m1k3yd14 you don't see see Aguero get moved off the ball as easy as Rom because city have so many attacking options that
teams can't afford to put 2 players on him. I admit Rom didn't have one of his best but as Swan quite rightly states he was totally isolated. Rom is still young and developing he won't have Drogba's physicality until he is in his mid 20's I just hope he is still with us when he does.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jan 2016 14:11:23
Ed agree with some of comments but not the one regarding Rom he was poor but he has been expected to lead the attack week in and week out he is are only striker kone is a waste of space so all are hopes for scoring goals rest on his shoulders he can't play all the time without having a poor game the crosses delboy put quality but u have to have more than Rom in the box to make them count as good as delboy is going forward he still needs to work a he'll of a lot on his defensive side of his game as plus for delboys quality he should be scoring a lot more goals ross I find good when he has the ball but slack as his defensive duties he says he wants to play centre midfield not of the striker until he learns to be better in his defensive duties then that's not possible plus finding his goal scoring boots would help to if u could get delboy and Ross on score sheet it will take pressure of Rom as for stones he hasn't been playing well for a while know costing us 3 points on a few occasions through him over playing plus don't think mori and stones gelled as a partnership so I would drop him for mori and jags in central defence stones I think is gone in summer I would go for wimmer of spurs what u think of him ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not seen much of him to be honest duke, but spurs are keen to keep him even though there were signs he may go to schalke, i was probably a bit harsh on rom there mate, i just get so frustrated at times with this everton side, we have a very good squad but cant seem to put out a winning side, i dont know how long the board will put up with bobbys ineptitude but if we go out on wednesday im sure a lot will be calling for his head..

24 Jan 2016 14:28:42
Awful. can't believe how bad we are. no aggression or bite or drive!
If Bobby goes who is there to replace him?

Very poor is an understatement . The lack of hunger was terrible they should keep the wages from them this week they where that bad. Everyone keeps talking about the great players we have maybe so but our team play is diabolical . Martinez out now before we dragged into relegation.

Swanse gave Everton a lesson in how to shut up shop and defend a winning position. Something Everton fail to do on many occasions this season.

Agree5 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 15:56:56
As soon as besic went of injured we fell apart in midfield we had no one with any urgency or able to put there foot in and make a tackle and stop other team playing delboy was are only bright spot in poor afternoon for us if stones keeps playing the way he is at the moment he should be dropped for jags and mori.

24 Jan 2016 15:57:50
Morinho, Guardiola. Moyes to name but 3. Martinez plays exciting attacking football but has no idea about defending. a la Keeganess. but long term it doesn't work and you have to be able to defend as well as attack. Moyes was the opposite.

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 16:09:07
I would have Moyes back in a heartbeat. Martinez has to go. If we get beat Wednesday hopefully sacked straight away. He's awful.

Agree4 Disagree5

24 Jan 2016 16:34:54
Not sure Moyes is the answer, great defensively but can't play attacking football. Opposite problem with martinez, defence so awful we go behind, teams shut up shop and can't break them down.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 16:45:51
Bring moyes back in an advisory role to Martinez. Moyes wouldn't go for that tho.

Agree2 Disagree4

24 Jan 2016 16:49:27
You say Swansea shut up shop but Coleman missed 2 sitters. Moyes back? Are you guys serious? Agree that Martinez probably needs to go but no chance do we want Moyes back.

Agree11 Disagree5

24 Jan 2016 16:59:11
He is the answer.
If you think back to his last season we played some lovely football and no one closes a game out better who we could attract.
Only issue was against big teams but if Moyes had this squad I would bet in him beating the so called big four.
In fact, we would be in the European places with Moyes.

Rlchris1982, you clearly never watched us under Moyes least of all his last season in which we played Tony Pulis football to Fellaini.

He, like Martinez, wouldn't have a clue how to use this team.

Agree7 Disagree5

24 Jan 2016 18:05:31
I have been to every home game this season and a couple of away games and believe me Moyes with this Squad would have us definitely in the top 6 and maybe even better.

24 Jan 2016 18:42:01
Sure duncansmum, but how? Seeing how Lukaku would be misused, Howard still in goal and Deulofeu benched.

Good plan.

Agree1 Disagree5

24 Jan 2016 18:51:09
Thoughts on Nigel Pearson? You can't just pluck managers out the sky especially those that are with clubs. Be realistic. Martinez HAS to go though.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed023's Note - I think the next manager will be Eddie Howe, no substance to that just a hunch}

24 Jan 2016 19:18:34
I do like Martinez, he's brought in a lot of young talent with potential, oddly enough most of them are defenders. He's got the team the best in a long time going forward but like everyone else can see it comes with a cost and that's down to our defence. Yes we have given goals on a plate on quite a few occasions, this I don't blame Martinez for. It's been individual errors where the player concerned needs to put his hand up and say it wasn't good enough. But it appears Martinez has done nothing in trying to correct this either. Whether he's not capable of sorting a defence out or he needs a defensive coach to come in and concentrate on our defence whilst he continues to work with our attacking side I don't know. I don't think it helps having Howard in goal either. As good as he's been to Everton over the years his time is up and with him still between the posts probably makes our defenders nervous before they even kick off. I guess what I'm trying to say is getting rid of Martinez would be a mistake but we need to bring in a defence coach to sort the problems out in the back. Sorry for the long post :/.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jan 2016 19:20:24
Ed023: if Eddie Howe returned back south from Burnley to Bournemouth for personal/ family reasons, why would he go back north? I know it's only your hunch, but I reckon he's more likely to get a job down south - say Tottenham if Pochettino moves to one of the elite European clubs like Real Madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed023's Note - Good point that and to be honest I haven't done much research into it but just thought from a neutral point of view it could be a good fit}

24 Jan 2016 20:28:32
Anomblue I assume you never watched Wigan. Martinez: "We were very slow in our performance - pedestrian - but two aspects affected our momentum which was the two injuries.

"The first half and second half performance were very contrasting.

"We created enough chances to win the game. The fearful aspect of our performance was a real shame. " Hmmm Wonder whose fault that is Roberto.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 21:22:27
Swan twice. This Squad both posts clearly said that with this Moyes would do better. More so try comparing stats.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 21:45:59
Anomblue is right. as an attacking force we are very creative but for the finishing touch. Defensivly we are crap, surely the board should be advising that this needs addressing with replacement goalkeeper and coach and get unsworth coaching basic defending and position of row z. Poor finishing cost us today. Also stones is playing more like a right back than a centre half. Any clues what dave watson is doing, possibly another defence coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2016 23:41:27
Swan Moyes didn't do too badly with us considering the lack of investment. I suppose we didn't play good football when we finished forth either?
Some still clearly upset he moved on but I don't blame him. Everyone board have had a lack of ambition for a long time and he bore the brunt of it and over achieved year on year aside from at the beginning when we yo-yo'd.
I thought the football was fine and would take that and winning over playing the attacking football we do without any clue defensively.
I'm not saying Moyes is perfect but based in availability at the minute and who we can attract he is probably the best out there. Alternately I would take a punt on Karanka from Boro.
Out of interest what do you think the solution is? You quick enough to shoot everyone done but never provide a valid insight yourself.

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jan 2016 07:10:33
No, even the players (Osman and Cahill) have said the football wasn't very good when we finished fourth, we just grinded out 1 nils.

I've offered my opinion on the matter, sack him and offer Mourinho whatever he wants, this is near impossible though.

De Boer? Knows how to use young players and could be quality.

Eddie Howe? Plays nice football and isn't stupid to play put of form players regularly, though he could be another Martinez.

Koeman? Showed he's a bad one season wonder, no different to Martinez.

Hughes? Awful with QPR and City, spent quite a but at Stoke and is achieving what he should be with that squad, not an improvement.

Moyes? Guaranteed to ruin Lukaku and get Deulofeu out the team whilst keeping Howard in, the likes of Holgate, Foulds, Browning, Garbutt, Walsh, Dowell and Ledson will never make it here under him. This myth that he would all of a sudden come back as ultra positive and get us doing what Leicester are doing really is hilarious.

Karanka? Meh.

There's my insight, funnily enough I've spoken about them all on here bar De Boer.

Agree0 Disagree3

25 Jan 2016 14:00:20
Usual stuff from you Swan. Talking about what's wrong with everyone.

No solution, no positive insight.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2016 14:07:48
If Bobby goes who is realistically available for Everton? Laudrup, who had 1 good season at Swansea. Harry Redknapp? Benitez? Rodgers? Unfortunately I think Bobby has made a mess of it but to be fair to him how can he change it? If he drops Stones (who for a few weeks has been below his best) the crowd will react negatively. He can't drop Rom as we have no replacement and he can't fit mccarthy and besic in the same team because Barry has been great this season. To say it politely Bobby is up s**t creek and I don't see a way out for him unless he miraculously wins a cup (or two) . If he goes then we need a solid manager with a good reputation who will attract some quality players and make our players want to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2016 14:53:50
Gave Howe and De Boer credit, they are realistic managers, sorry when I mention Mourinho (a great manager) it's laughable and impossible. These are the possibilities, sorry I didn't coat them in hot chocolate and go mad about how amazing they all are.

You've offered no solution.

Except saying Moyes will come back and play great football, make all our players better, not care about work rate.

So a completely different manager than he was a couple of months ago.

Before he got sacked, for the 2nd time, in his first season, of 2 jobs.

Instead of sitting there criticising everyone else's opinions on the matter such as mine here, why don't YOU give some positive insight and solutions to our problems.

Oh, without giving me assurances that you're "certain" Moyes has "moved on with the times".
