Steve Walsh effect coming into play Blues.

27 Jul 2016 12:00:09
My guess is that Walsh lined him up for a Kante replacement at leciester before he came to us.

Marseille are also keen to sign gueye and have just agreed a fee of 10.9 mil for sale of georges-kevin nkoudou so we could have some competition for him from Marseille.

According to reports we have met the release clause in idrissa guye contract from Aston villa don't know much about him really any other opinions.

26 Jul 2016 22:04:07
At the end of last season I saw a report about how villa failed etc. this gueye or I think they call him gana had very good stats for breaking up play, and general defencive midfield play was second in the premier league and on Kante was better (only just) they basically said 11 gana's in the team and they would have been ok.

Just saw his stats on ssn there. second behind kante at tackles made, won, interceptions etc. is he who Walsh had lined up to replace kante at Leicester but now we swoop in.

Gueye from Villa is a latest rumour. I'd be very happy with that if it comes off. Things starting to hot up.

Everton just triggerd the release clause in in some villa player breakingon sky news and the stoke player not coming now bloody typical.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

26 Jul 2016 22:23:52
When we where told it would be an exciting transfer window, not at any point did I think we would be trying to buy a player from villa, don't get me wrong I don't no anything about him and if it's a player our manager likes then I'm happy, but I was hoping for a little bit more excitement than the goalie we have and the villa player we are now linked to, let's hope the big names come soon.

Agree2 Disagree3

26 Jul 2016 22:41:39
Koeman had said signings will come in the matter of days now don't know much about that villa player idrissa guye but our manager and walsh have seen something in him definitely worth a gamble at 7 mil.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed041's Note - he's a decent player actually. For 7m I think it's good business.

27 Jul 2016 00:11:51
Looks like a walsh special, good stats. get him in. He's proven in the prem unlike witsel, cheaper than mata, more consistent than Sissoko and not got his head up his backside like aurnatovic.

Linked with lamina kone from Sunderland and idrissa gueye dcm from villa. Kone played well for Sunderland and gueye was the standout midfielder in a very poor villa side, looks OK. Apparently triggerd gueyes release clause of 7.2m

In komean we trust but must admit I was hoping for witsel or william carvalho.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

26 Jul 2016 21:57:05
Kone from Sunderland is a good defender one of the key reasons Sunderland stayed up but idrissa guye from villa don't know much about he might be good I don't no but with the names we been linked with I expected a bigger name to come in especially in midfield.

Agree1 Disagree3

26 Jul 2016 23:17:05
I just hope if we are in for Kone, then moyes remember his " i won't stand in the way of a player bettering himself" quote, that he used when trying to nab baines and fellaini.

Reports we have triggered anther release clause the lad from villa 7.1m not sure on this one villa had a terrible season so i guess this guy did to.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

26 Jul 2016 22:17:48
As I understand it from something I read he was one highlight to their season and only second to Kante in interceptions and high up on the best tackles.
Now whether that is due to a lot more traffic coming through their other midfielders I don't know but if he's making successful tackles and interceptions he's doing something right and in the current ludicrous transfer fees £7.1m represents a potential steal!

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jul 2016 22:18:29
He is brilliant whether we get him or not, very similar to Kante, £7m is a snip and he is much better than McCarthy and Barry.

Arautavic from stoke💩 not a bad player but sureley we got to be aiming higher than that if we want top 4.

We are becoming a bit of a joke in this transfer window all talk about us having all this money to spend and we are reluctant to spend any virtually every other team is strengthing and getting stronger the likes of West ham, the reds, stoke, spurs have all improved there squad significantly except us we finished 11 last year if we don't start making sigining soon then we will be lucky to finish 11th this year.

Agree4 Disagree3

26 Jul 2016 17:42:16
Why are we becoming a bit of a joke?

Why do you expect us to just go an spaff all our money away, just because we have now got some.

To go and spunk it on some mercenaries that don't give a f*** about the club and bring it to its knees like so many other clubs.

It takes time to get the right players in. What do you want us to do, just go an sign every player the rags link us with?

Also you are going on about these teams strengthening. Just adding players for the sake of adding players doesn't strengthen you.

We have a solid side already, not to different to the side that nearly got champs league under Bobby. With a far better and realistic manager at the helm, and 4 or 5 quality signings we won't be too far away from pushing for top 4.

We need a striker, a creative cm, a cdm, a cb and a goaly. Not a whole new squad.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 Jul 2016 17:53:03
Just because we haven't signed anyone doesn't mean we are reluctant to spend. Firstly, I take any media speculation linking us with every player under the sun with a pinch of salt. They are mostly guess work because we have money to spend.

Secondly, I believe behind the scenes we are constantly working hard to make deals happen. However, we want to sign high profile players yet don't have nothing to attract them as such. We have no sort of European football to offer which all these top players want and we are a team who have been poor for the last two seasons. Add to this we don't pay stupid wages.

Seen on so many forums like this evertonians saying this is the best squad we have had and Martinez is ruining it and how with our squad we should be pushing top four. Even pundits were saying the same. So how come all of a sudden we need this massive overhaul of the squad? Up to now the only players we have lost are players past their best who rarely featured in the first team. Yes they need replacing, but with the right sort of player.

Then you have to consider we don't know if we will keep hold of Stones and Lukaku. So we could go out spend money in other areas and they leave meaning we have to strength there as well. Add to that the FFP rules we need to adhere to.

We all got what we wanted, Martinez gone and a quality manager in. Add to that we have a great back room staff put in place and quite a few promising youngsters coming through.

Yes we need to add to the squad, but not just go throwing money around because we now have some. Look at Niasse we are going to take a big loss on him. Plus of the players other teams have signed how many of them would we really want at Everton and for the money they went for.

Let's trust in Koeman to get the players he wants and we need to get us back were we should be. Let's go into the new season in a positive mood. Let's remember signing new players isn't a simple as it is on FIFA!

Wallace 1878 I agree with what you say but think we need 2 centre backs. Martins indi and koubilay will do nicely.

Last season 'we've got the strongest squad in years it's the managers fault we need a new manager to get the best out of them'

Preseason 'we need a new squad because we have some money'

£100 mil is great but not enough to change a squad, a new manager needs to asses the squad ie delafou playing upfront. Youth players that are now good enough and to be assessed.

We could do a Leeds, Newcastle etc spend spend spend with nothing to show for it or we could buy the right players at the right price that will improve or rush and end up as the aforementioned know what I'd choose.

Hmm I would get the idea of bringing in someone experienced to help some of the talented kids we have in this position, but isn't that what jagielka is for?

I would take him think we miss a leader at the back with good experience remember Distan/ Stubbs/ Weir / gough all dun well for us in the twilight of their careers.

26 Jul 2016 09:46:07
It obviously looks like we are going to have to get into Europe to attract bigger names so if this is a player who can shore up the defence and make us a better prospect in the future then I would take him. I want to go back to enjoying watching us and know there us a plan for the future.

I think it's v unlikely we going to get this napoli guy. See him going to Chelsea. Fonte not a bad player but not someone get excited about.

Jags has still got a few seasons left in him. Thought he was one of our better players last season. Get bmi from porto to sit along side him or kane from Burnley,

I highly doubt he'd leave Saints. He's been there since the League One days. He's now their captain and I don't see the incentive for the switch when Southampton have consistently beaten their previous season for 7 years or so now. They're also playing Europa League football this year so I see no incentive.

Stones for £50m but Fonte for £5m!

Former not good enough for a poor England side, latter wins the Euros.

Someone needs to get to know their football.
