Hey Eds, any news on Zouma at all? I know Brands has been quoting as saying we want to do a permanent deal for Gomes, but there's nothing on Zouma it seems

And then is there any possibility of another striker as well as Sala and even a right back coming in? Can't see us buying too many but there are some players I would be looking to ship on.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing on Zouma, I think two strikers unlikely and I am not aware of any RBs being lined up for January.}

Thank you as always Ed, should be an interesting month ahead!

We need to go with the players we have for the second half of the season IMHO. I know that we need a striker, a right-back and probably a right winger and a back-up goalkeeper but the summer is the best time to recruit. If we can get Gomes on a permanent deal in January that would be a huge bonus, otherwise moving one or two more players deemed surplus to requirements should be Brands priority.

Read the Marcel Brands interview in the echo, don’t think we’ll be making any purchases

{Ed025's Note - you could well be right mate..

We might not make any purchases but then did any of you really expect all those players to walk through the door on deadline day? I know I was happily surprised!

Any new on psv winger bergwijn and striker lozano, hear brands said they are not quite ready for premier League yet. And price doesn't reflect their experience in a top flight league. £20m bergwijn and £30m lozano.

Personally I would take bergwijn out of the two.

We do need an out and out striker, not sure lozano is the answer.

{Ed002's Note - Steven Bergwijn is yet another left winger that Everton don't need. Milan, Barcelona, CSKA and Inter have looked at him as one for the future but not followed up. Bayer Leverkusen took a look but are working another issue right now. Bordeaux, Sevilla and Spurs remain keen but I don't see him moving in the short-term.

Hirving Lozano is not a striker but really a RW which Everton do need. As I have said before, the problem is always going to be taking on a coach or Technical Director from another side and then trying to cherry pick their players; maybe enough time will have passed by next summer but his asking price may also be a bit rich for Everton. Lots of other clubs have looked at him including Barcelona and Arsenal but only two sustain an interest - one being Milan who might well make an offer if Suso were to leave.}

Brands quoted in the Echo as not looking to bring anyone in this January. A couple may go, but he doesn’t like bringing players in unless the club is “in trouble” with either injuries or league position. He sounds like he’d rather give the younger players a chance to develop this year.

{Ed025's Note - that is the likely scenario PLB, but im sure that if the right guy was available we would delve into the market mate..

I think it’s the right way to go Ed. I’d be happy to see the young talent realised by the end of this year, even if that meant a mid table finish.

Brands seems to know his stuff I am very impressed with the guy.
