I'm really interested in this Ed02 related suggestion of Hoddle for manager and think he would have been a tremendous acquisition at the club. As has been said, It really is baffling as to why he's disappeared from club job shortlists.
I wonder if it went t*ts up for him when he was England boss and had that debacle with mystics improving performance or whatever it was along those lines. He got so much ridicule that perhaps clubs don't want that controversy. I personally believe he was just trying something new, mental improvement converting to performance gains, but it just spun out of control.
Anyways, he was a top drawer manager and no doubt could inject something fresh into the club which we desperately need. I hope we get to see him back in a top job one day soon!
As for Allardyce or Fonseca, I'd go for the latter all day long but do share most peoples concerns of him adapting quickly enough to help us. Maybe we would be safer with the proven option for the short term health of the club.

Hoddle has been out of the management game for too long now in my opinion. We don't have time for experiments at present. We have done that with Unsworth and look where we are. I would have loved it to have worked out for Davey but the mess and unbalanced side that Koeman has left behind has made it practically impossible for a good, young and inexperienced manager to get anything from the position. Although there are a lot that really don't want Sam he is the best option we have to stabalise and move us away from the bottom.

The reason he fell off the radar was for comments relating to the disabled. Something along the lines of his opinion was that we are all reincarnated once we die and that those who are disabled are paying the price of wrong doing in a previous life.

Hey Ed 025,reports now saying Shaktar won't let Fonesca go, anything Everton can do about it, or will have to settle with Big Sam, urrrrrrmmmmm.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - they will be after some dosh GB..

28 Nov 2017 20:03:38
If he’s been interviewed as per the reports then they must’ve given permission or it would be tapping up. So if they are saying they won’t let him go it will likely be a negotiation ploy for a large amount of compensation.

{Ed025's Note - i agree ST..

28 Nov 2017 20:44:25
nice one mate.

28 Nov 2017 14:16:23
now we all know twitter is nothing to go by, but a lot of portugese and Italian journos now claiming fonseca (pardon spelling) in pole position to land the job, gamble blues? I mean if this goes balls up we really are in trouble if he can't adapt to management over here.

28 Nov 2017 15:12:53
that's the million dollar question do we gamble or play safe I would play safe which kills me to say as I hate that bung taking joke of a man.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - hate is a strong word BLUEY, but i must admit that i dislike him intensely mate..

28 Nov 2017 15:14:36
Tbh i would rather have Sam, we need a proven manager in this situation, as u say, Fonseca is a total gamble.

Agree5 Disagree2

28 Nov 2017 16:11:10
I disagree the gamble would be allardyce he leaves clubs in tatters.
Fonseca is young and hungry the way moyes and Howard once were.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i have to admit that i know very little about fonseca scoundrel, but for me if allardyce wants a longer term appointment and is holding us to ransom then i would go for fonseca all day mate..

28 Nov 2017 16:24:14
Fonseca all day long for me - we've got time for one last roll of the dice. Alladyce will still be around in March if it all goes wrong! I'd rather have Fonseca's draw bringing players in in January than Big Sham.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Nov 2017 16:24:27
I'd be very happy with this as I put a bet on at 20/ 1 on fonseca. I'll be able to buy myself that new pair of shoes.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and if sam gets it i will be able to buy myself a gallon of petrol and a box of matches gibbo.. :)

28 Nov 2017 17:58:43
I am still baffled why we put Ebrell alongside Unsworth instead of Joe Royle, may not have made that much of a difference but Royle for me was a better option, Ebrell, Ferguson and Ebrell look like the three stooges on that bench.

I was hoping for Villa Boas who has at least got premier league experiance, could even say Eddie Howe but have already found out being a Blue is not enough to whip this squad into place.

Have a feeling it will be big Sam.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have said before that where i believe the problems we are having stem from is the "jobs for the boys" culture at the club baz, i would personally kick the lot of them to the kerb and start afresh without all the hangers on who just because they are ex-blues think the club owes them a living, they have had their time and i hope the new guy brings in his own new staff mate..

28 Nov 2017 15:19:17
I honestly know nothing about him. ED002 will be the man to ask.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - he would be a good choice but Shakhtar Donetsk won’t want him to go and it would take lot as he has been at the highest level in terms of European competition and would need to give that up.}

28 Nov 2017 18:42:52
the problem stems from buying and playing, only one. of three very similar forwards who are actually midfielders. first koeman did and now unsy is. klassen rooney and gylfi. why first ron now david is giving the nod to sig is beyond me he is not earning the start from match play that's for sure. would love to know what he is doing in training to warrant being played cause as far as i can see he is a luxury player we don't need. we do need youth and young legs in the middle. same for morgan when gana was playing cdm without him he was the best in the prem since he's been playing with him he is the worst. solution stop playing them together neither koeman and unsy have done this. its the same at the back how can a premier league squad not have a back up LB, and after the first time we played martina in the LB position why was he again picked by both koeman and unsy to play there again, we must have a 16 year old who can play left back better than him he is not an option. i wonder if the problem is unsy not taking the best players from the secondary squad and forgeting fringe squad players like holgate who can defend when others being picked clearly can't. all that being said i don't believe it can get much worse, the last ten games we have been terrible and we are barely in the relegation zone with jan on the horizon and seamus yannick nearly ready the next ten games will be better imo so no need to panic me thinks.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Nov 2017 19:12:41
Ed002 - after Koeman was dismissed, I recall you suggesting that Hoddle would be a good choice for manager/ head-coach at Everton.
Firstly, am I recalling that correctly?
Secondly, if so, do you still take that view and could that appointment really work given Everton’s present situation and he’s been out of Premier League management for a while and he might bring some “historical baggage or controversy” with him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Hoddle is an excellent coach, a nice guy and a strong character.}

28 Nov 2017 19:01:32
Ed025 - so you’d get rid of every former Everton player currently on the staff? You’d bin Unsworth, Ebbrell, Ferguson, Royle, the U23 and Academy coaches (Jeffers, etc. ) , the club ambassadors (Snodin, Stuart, etc. ) ? Do you think they’re ALL undeserving of a role with the club and it’s just a blatant case of “jobs for the boys”?
Food for thought: the three managers who won trophies for Everton during the past 50 years - Catterick, Kendall and Royle - were all former Everton players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would keep unsy as he has found his niche with the U23,s bobby, the rest can go for me, catterick, kendall and royle were a different ilk to what is at the club at the moment, joe can have an ambassadorial role i suppose but none of the others near the fist team squad, they are all very comfortable in fact too much so and we need a new beginning, thats just my view of course mate and i dont expect a lot to agree, but there is "something rotten in the city of denmark" as they say and its infected this club to the point where the whole set up needs ripping up and starting again..

28 Nov 2017 19:51:29
Ed002 - thanks for your reply. That being the case, why isn’t Hoddle in the running for the Everton - or any other Premier League club’s - managerial position these days?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I wish knew the answer. I will ask him next time I run in to him, but I don’t see him often. I agree that he doesn’t seem to get considered as much as he should.}

28 Nov 2017 20:13:57
I actually think you may be onto something with that speech Ed025.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im just searching for a reason why a lot of experienced international players cant seem to play football i suppose grumpy..

28 Nov 2017 20:18:50
Ed002 - thanks - much appreciated.

28 Nov 2017 20:57:39
It's a very refreshing angle Ed025 and certainly one that I had not considered, How much, or even if, It would set us back as a club is maybe something we will never know.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i dont know if it would work grumpy but up to now nothing else has, it wont happen of course but something is not right at our club mate..

28 Nov 2017 22:40:30
Two people who know all about Everton and speak their minds is Peter Reid and Neville Southall, neither have anything in an Everton role, instead we have second rate yes boss men in a Ebrell, Jeffers and the like.

I agree Ed25 move Unsworth back to the U23, the rest clear out of Goodison and start afresh.

Also agree with Ed02 in regards to Glenn Hoddle.

Now the short list of three. Jesus it's a total farce? Does any Ed have any thoughts on when this horrible scattergun approach will end!? Please!

{Ed025's Note - this week i expect OT..

I think it's a guarantee Big Sam is our next manager.

Please understand we aren't going to get a manager with top credentials in league and European football. Everton are further away now than we were last season to being the finished article. Top managers don't have to deal with crisis teams and are usually sacked for not winning a league or just missing out on qualification for Europe and never getting to a critical stage. Everton are a crisis team right now and what we need is a crisis specialist. Top of the list Sam Alledyce and Dyche would be my second choice for his gritty attitude.

Everton is a golden opportunity for Big Sam. He's a specialist in getting teams settled and playing as a team again. So once he's done that. He then has Moshiri and the rest of the board happy and willing to spend money on top players in achieving getting us to the top. Now if he does that. Gets us to the top. Now he has just become the best manager in the world. He now has experience in every situation. Getting teams out of the mud and can ride with the big boys at the top. How appealing does that look on your résumé. Less than 70 hours and he will be named.

I am so disheartened allardyce tactics are just a modern take on Don howe tactics. It's a sad thing that he is even being mentioned.

It doesn't bear thinking about but if we lose the next 3 games can you imagine how low the confidence will be and the spanking the RS will give us?!? 🙄 Here's hoping the football Gods smile down on us 😀.
