I know it's early and things change through the season but could we have a good chance landing Gomez on a permanent basis?

Gomez seems a lot happier at Everton and that could be an important factor. A lot needs to be accomplished including his continued good form and Barcelona letting him go for a reasonable fee, but we can only hope that this works out to the satisfaction of all parties.

The lads on toffee tv said that Barcelona wanted us to buy him but we declined favouring a loan instead. I must confess that was the first I had heard of that but if true it bodes well.

That's what I heard about the deal. Barcelona wanted us to sign him permanent and we wanted loan. Otherwise the deal would of been done ahead of deadline day. I'd be confident of a permanent deal if he continues to impress. Barcelona seem to not want him and he doesn't seem suited to their style. We have a good relationship with Barcelona I believe and think we could get a deal done.

I read an interview on either Marco or brands early in the season who said Barcelona wanted to offload Gomez and he was offered to ya because of the Digne and Mina deals. “We couldn’t afford to buy him so a loan was good choice! ” Or something along those lines.
