***PSG PANTHER***
Just to confirm that Barton will be a done deal b4 spurs game
The life long fan will be keen to sign a long time deal and keep his head down an let his football do the talking. He thinks he will have a shot at the England Team with the likes of jags and baines now regulars.
The only other addition i can confirm is a loan deal, , , Moyes has a few targets and seeing which one suits best.
An last but not least Everton have rejected an inital offer of 5mil for Beckford with the Blues holding out for 8mil or rumour has it that Scott Parker may be involved in the deal...

The Panther

Think we need Beckford and Anichebe as bench warmers, don't think we need to cash in on JB just yet. Would love Scott Parker but with our recent signing track record.... I don't think so.

Everton have rejected a £5m offer from who? And what does Scott Parker have to do with things? More info needed me thinks
Agree0
Disagree0
Right, so we would get rid of essentially our only fit striker and bring in another central midfielder? Why would we bring in Barton AND Parker and let go of one of our strikers? Just doesnt make sense.
Agree0

Id like to see barton sign - anyone who supports the team will always dig deeper than someone who doesnt - moyes must lay down the law tho - and joey must realise its his last big chance - come on joey
Agree0

I think he's suggesting West Ham want Beckford. What a load of cr*p

Barton on 70k, Parker on 90/100k
Neither will happen

Would love to see Barton for us Would give us a bit of bite that were missing Would also like bellamy as again he would give bite plus goals And I think the team who bid for beckford was whu. He has been terrible pre season thou hasn't he
Agree0
Disagree0
West Ham made a bid for Beckford last week.
By the way, Artetas injury is not that bad, just preoccupied with family matters. It does not look good. {Ed025's Note - i cant see becks going anywhere, as for arteta...we are less of a team without him, he is our craft and guile in midfield, and a very important link between midfield and attack..

David Trezeguet
Ok, so he is 33 (but Saha is 32), but a proven goalscorer at the very highest level...and he is without a club.
I would offer a one year contract with the club having the option to extend by another year, seriously, we SHOULD be in for him
Believable13
Unbelievable12
He would be class, but we might struggle to match his wage demands
Agree0
Disagree0
I posted the same last week and was laughed at by a couple of numpties. since leaving juve he's been playing in spanish d2 so his wages wont be high. he's probably going to sign for Nice but would be class for us
Agree0
Disagree0
Why would we want another aging french striker well past his best if he was any good another italian club would have picked him up, plus it will use up vital wages that im sure would be better spent elsewhere
Agree0
Disagree0
Look at the clubs after him-Napoil, Lazio This guy is class. Guaranteed goals. They dont call him the Goalador for nothing. This is a missed opportunity Agian i'll re-iterate his wages not going to be high. Probably the same as Beckford's. Mmm let me think abnout this one

Joey Barton, back to his old stomping ground, he'll probably play better football as well. Don't think we can match his £60k pw wage and I don't think he could fill Arteta's boots either, but if we can get a fair deal for Arteta, get Joey on board, couple of loan signings it should start restoring faith for a lot of Evertonians.. Don't really want to lose Jag but the money would come in very handy, look what we did with Lescott's fee and we never looked back..
Believable10
Unbelievable9
Lescott has nothing on jags tho, heitinga isn't good enough to replace him
Agree0
Disagree0
In my opinion thought Lescott was better than Jags. I mean Lescott has gone on to form a very good partnership with Kompany and had the best defence in the league, whereas Jags hasnt really found his oldself since Lescott has left, whether he is struggling to find a partner that compliments him, but thought Lescott was better than Jags, and not to mention Lescott did chip in one season with 10 goals and was extremely dangerous on set pieces.
As for Heitinga I believe given a good run of games he could be a very good CB, you have to be a decent CB if you played in the WC final last year and kept the Spanish team scoreless for 90mins.

Didn't want him anyway, waste of money,
overated, can't cross a ball, falls over more times than heskey, SPL makes an average player look good (not doing much better in russia also) more simalarities with him and mcfadden and we had high expectations of him and we all know how poor he turned out to be.......rather have Bily everyday of the week and twice on sunday's.

Dont get why everybody wants Barton
I know he's free but for starters he's on a fair whack at Newcastle and would demand similar wages here
Would he even be able to get into our 1st 11? I dont
And lastly he's an a$$, not worth bringing into our dressing room, and hope to god he doesn't join and due to his wage demands thankfully it looks unlikely
Believable10
Unbelievable9
He was on 55K a week at Newcastle, but he was willing to take a pay cut to stay, if he loves Everton and wants to play for us, then he might be willing to take a pay cut, but anyways, the general consenus when we were chasing Demba Ba was that we offered him around 50-55k a week, so we do have some sort of room in the wage budget. So wages arent a problem.
Barton would almost certainly be in our starting XI, offers us intensity and has fire in his belly which our midfield lacks, has versatility as he was used centrally and on the right wing last season and managed 4 goals and 9 assists, so would most definetly be in our starting XI
He has worked on his attitude the past 18months, and has stayed out of relative trouble (critising the Toon board was the exception, but everything he said was technically right) whilst performing on the pitch, and seemd to have finally matured.
Any other doubts?
Interesting this Barton debate, seems like it is split half and half over whether they want him or not, would be interesting to see if it happens

I reckon we gamble on him, moysie will kick him in to touch if he f***s about he is out simple. {Ed025's Note - i agree

Hate to say this but... I think give him a go.
If he can keep a lid on it and give the kind of performance he did to almost single handedly turn the Arse game around 5-0 down, I'd rather he did it for the team he (and we) loves {Ed025's Note - i agree with you..if anyone can keep him in check..its david moyes..

just heard this from my dads mate who runs the hospitality at the ground.
Arsenal are set to bid around 17 million in a final attempt to sign Jagielka. That is a good deal as he is 29 next month and Moyes is supposed to be looking at Scott Dann of Birmingham for around 7-8 million. Apart from that, a few loan deals could go through and Kenwright will claim to have "tried" to sign Messi, but was just too late.

i still dont get on how we havnt even bought a single player this window? so much stress being an evertonian at this times of the season and tbh doing my head in.
i dont get why we dont go for players who are on a free?
Joey Barton
John Carew?????
John Carew is a good player, may be old, but hes better than beckford an certaintly knows where the goal is.
And as for Arteta 'ment' to be leaving surley Barton is a suitbale replacement, he was an ever present for newcastle last season..
I hate to say it becuase i hate the guy, but i hope we get him an he proves us all wrong.
Rodwell and Jags to stay.
Arteta maybe to go
Barton to sign
Carew - not a hope in hell
The board GET OUT.

U must be mad if u think john carew is better than beckford. beckford scored 10 goals last season (8 in the league) and carew only scored twice while on loan at stoke. beckford is much faster and more agile. carew is past his best days and his signing would take us a step backwards. beckford needs a good run in the team to show us how good he can be. also i think barton wud be a good signing. yes hes had his demons but from a football perspective he is a good solid player. this is what everton need. good quality players who are on a free. this dosent happen too often so moyesy needs to act fast.

02 Aug 2011 08:59:50
This is not a rumour and i wont pretend that my sisters boyfriends cousins aunties brothers wife os the PA to any agent or club official but this is just what i think is going to happen. The team who have been linked with Arteta just so happen tio be playing Everton on friday so talks will more then likely happen over that. Barton will be brought in aas a replacement to Arteta and the money from the Arteta deal will be spent on Johnson on loan with Defoe in permenantley or Johnson in permenantley with Defoe coming in on loan. If we can get between 8-10m for a player who is 29 and starting to get injured alot then we have done well. As much as i would like him to stay i think his best days in a blue shirt are long gone and i would rateher keep jags
Believable16
Unbelievable5
Not sure it'll happen, but I agree about Arteta...great servant to the club but not the force he was 3 years ago.
Agree0

I cant believe you are actually saying this, are you really an evertonion? sell arteta for 8-10m are you out of your mind. he has had a bad season SO WHAT he is a class player, and if you think city will let johnson go on loan (manchini has already said hes going nowhere) or that defore will solve our striker problems (only 4 goals last season and he is really overated and overpaid) then you need to re think mate.
Agree0

Would like to beleive you but your speaking bollocks so jog on

Adam Johnson IS NOT coming to Everton, Mancini already said he wants to keep Johnson for this season. I dont see us selling Arteta. And I dont see us signing Barton.
Lets jsut face it, we are going to have the same squad as last season come the Spuds game.
Agree0
Disagree0
Quite possible I would love to see barton at goodison He is a great tenacious midfielder with good vision, distribution and desire I believe his thugish days are behind him and would win over the fans within a few games. HOWEVER...Barton and Distin have a bad history frm their Man City days so i cnt see Moyes disrupting the harmony in the dressing room Would hate to lose Mikel and expecially for anything less than 12M Should give Moyes a copy a FM2011 and get the scouts to watch the cheap future stars from around the world ##bluemick##
Agree0

Arteta aint going to Spain. Villareal owner already said in Spanish radio that is not going for Arteta. Athletic Bilbao said no a couple weeks ago....so Arteta aint going to Spain.
Agree0

To be honest im not that bothered if we dont sign anyone as long as we keep the current squad, could do with replacing pienaar but hopefully billy will step up.
moyes knows what he is doing so if he can improve the squad he will.
Agree0

Yes i really am an Evertonian and have been a season ticket holder for over 10 years in the lower glady, i also go to as many away games as my bank balance will allow and therefore feel that i am in a perfactly good position to have an opinion. I am not one of these ppl who buy a shirt every two years and calls themsleves an evertonian and then come on here and shoot ppl down for having an opinion. Arteta doesnt have the influence onthe game that he did before his injury. And at 29 i think if an offer close to 10m came in then why shouldnt we sell. The only thing that is goingto happen is Areta is going to get older and less influencial. No one can say it will or wont happen or should or shouldnt happen cus this is football and no one can say what is going to happen. I just said that this is what i feel will happen.

Afternoon everyone great to read all your comments I have been saying for 2 years now Arteta if he stays has to play out wide I would like to see him replace peanuts on left full time I dont care if we sign no one as lomg as we can keep our sqaud football is a business and I believe Moyes has a plan a Materpaln Peace out fellow Blue Men and u scabby HEADED RED SCUM WHO POST NONSENSE ON OUR SITE

When fit and on form, there aren't many players better than Arteta. BUT, I firmly believe his best days are behind him and if it is for the good of the team, his sale ought to be considered if the right offer is made. That aside, I firmly believe the only likely exit we'll see is Jags, IF Wenger offers anywhere near £18M. If he does go, I'll be gutted cos I genuinely believe he's one of the best in the business and having met him with my son after the Sunderland game, seems a genuinely nice guy too. IMWT. Keep the faith guys. {Ed025's Note - good post that fella..
