Take the deal to put an end to it the world will see rom on the big stage and realise we have ripped chelsea off not only did we get him on loan for a year am dam sure we have not paid anywhere near the 28m we got him for back to chelsea so i reckon out the 3 years we have probably spent 15m on him with the rest still owed to chelsea so nice tidy profit on a avg player . if he stays i will not boo him or cheer him but just like the way he goes about his busines.

Remy is a proven finisher. he's not got a sniff at Chelsea, but when he plays week in week out, like Marseille and Newcastle he bags goals.

Pace, direct, great finishing ability - for 10 mill in the current market, id take that all day.

Chelsea fan - Just as a reply to you 'andygeryslovechild', A perfect example of where a player plus cash swap deal has happened and worked would be Ashley Cole for William Gallas. There are plenty of other deals that have been player plus cash too so I don't really know why you think it would be such a ludicrous offer. However I do agree with the majority of you that it would be more beneficial for you to receive the full amount in money rather that getting Remy as an additive.

This rumour 100% won't happen anyway. I'm quite sure we'll just cash in with no other players changing clubs. Why would we want Loic Remy or Diego Costa? Remy had half a good season with Newcastle and was a complete waste of money and Diego Costas a liability, don't like him as a man and although he's good I don't like him as a player. I'd personally hate if he come anywhere near the club, he thinks he owns the football pitch. Blokes a muppet. On the other hand I think we should bid for Bergovic (spelling) He'd be a great no1. We'll just double our money on Lukaku thanks and buy elsewhere.

yous have not bid for ROM as of yet in anyway shape or form and will not be bidding for him till Costa in for sure going then yous will be in for a hard time not meeting the £75m we are holding out for the ball is with everton on this deal as yous cannot go into the start of the new season without I proven goal scorer in the perm 20 goal a season players don't come cheap anymore for so called top 4 teams

yous have 72 players before going into under 23 team 72 and only one proven goal scorer in the perm and he is looking to leave

do you see now that we have yous over a barrel on this

yes yous could go out and buy some other player but again would they be proven 20 goal a season players in the perm I don't think so

Just to add to the player swap debate. Eto'o and ibrahimovic were involved in a cash+player swap deal. Looks like Spuds move for nkoudou will involve n'jie even if it's just on loan.

Personally I don't think we should be going for Lukaku. There's about at least 10 strikers if not more that I'd prefer.
Chelsea have also proven over the last few seasons we'll no longer pay over the odds for players, so don't think you'll be holding us over the barrel any time soon.

And I'm not certain but maybe the clause in his contract was concrete as when villa signed him I read that a clause was put in place that if they where relegated and a club made the bid he would have to be allowed to leave.

I'm not certain though tbh. I'm sure ed002 will be able to explain it better if he/ she has the time.

Bill it is not a clause as such it is a termination fee which enables the player to buy himself out of his deal.

Ed could you tell me of you ha e any info, surly we must be linked with strikers, we need another as cover for lukaku, but if he leaves then we need at least a couple, just we seem to be linked with defenders and midfielders.

{Ed025's Note - as far as i can tell jlm we are waiting for the lukaku deal to be sorted. that will decide the quality of the player or players we decide to buy mate, we are in the market for a striker but as i say other factors will decide on who mate..
