Elstone was with Stones. Is Moyes elsewhere sorting out a bigger deal?!

Believable5 Unbelievable17

Stones said he met moyes! Think that's it.

Too late now mate
Pablo

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes probs fuming and went for a pint

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I know if clubs are in the process of signing a player they have up until 1. 00 am, as long as they made the fa aware of it i'm just saying it is a long shot but you never know wait and see Stef the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not convinced we will sign anyone else now but we have a tendancy to complete things late on, have done it with Bily, Felli and Peanuts on loan last January!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well lets hope there is a late late one, because we can't rely on bains as our main goal scorer. time for jella to pull his finger out.

Agree0 Disagree0

What has come from this window is that WE can compete for good players, who would have thought that a few weeks ago.
Sometimes new players disrupt a settled team, and that's what Everton appear to be now, with Miralles and Gibson fit, a strong bench with Coleman and Hibbert to return.
Fifth in the league and possibly 4th after saturday, still in the cup
When Jelavic starts scoring, what then? on reflection, we have never had it so good! cheer up and get behind the lads, its going to be an exciting 2013

Very poor Moyes could be on his way now

Believable22 Unbelievable24

31 Jan 2013 23:37:57
Big gamble in my opinion yes we have kept al our good players and signed a good young player but I think this is a big missed opportunity if we don't make champions league which I don't think we will now the cream of everton may leave we're will that leave us up rubbish Creek with out a paddle

Agree0 Disagree0

Give your head wobble! Moyes is amazing! In Moyes we trust! So what if we failed to make a big signing look what he has done for the club. You are F*****g clueless!

Agree0 Disagree0

Got it wrong lad am no kopite just really disappointed after havin my hopes built up with top players we were ment 2 be signin

Agree0 Disagree0

Clueless, perfect opptunity to make a push for fourth I go the match every weak and it dosnt take a quality manager like moyes to see were we are lacking, i'm also certain he had poeple in mind but nothings come of it and we will struggle with team looking stagnent the last few weeks, gutted

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2013 00:36:50
I don't care for a big signing i'm just saying it's a gamble at this time we our so close to something big but just need that little bit extra. And we may have missed out and yes moyse is great now go and slag someone els of you angry bell. in moyes we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

Why go out and buy a player for the future if he's going to leave you plank

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but this was the time to back the manager! Even players on loan would of boosted the squad. Don't understand why we were linked to players potentially out of our budget just to sign someone with potential.
Not slagging off the board and defo not slagging off moyes but I don't understand what's happened.
Why go for Negredo if its at the max of our budget? Not like moyes to get caught up In the hype. Under the radar signings is what he does best, but it seems we have tried to punch above our weight and paid the price, not like moyes and I hope I'm wrong.

Pid

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes you are clueless. Moyes is amazing, and the lack of january signings does not change that. Stagnent? Yes we drew two matches 0-0. We are still putting in good performences. We are ahead of liaverpol and arsenal and are 1 point behind tottenham. Yes I'm dissapointed that we didn't sign a good quality player or two. But things occured which didn't go our way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but do we have enough in the squad to keep going gueyes gone in loan so now our very thin squad has gotten thinner. The squad is thin if injuries come a long can we compete for fourth I don't think so also we are lacking upfront and I midfield ossie looks to tired to put in a decent performance
Recruits not only bolster the squad but they boost moral we don't have that moral boost.

Agree0 Disagree0

No new major signings ain't the end of the world got players coming back from injury. Plus we got more to spend in summer window now when better value for money. Moyes will stay if he was going being a classy man as he seems he would have let the board know at least! Hopefully fer negredo an one or two more in summer would be amazing hopefully a great run in the Europa league!

Agree0 Disagree0

I corrosponded to the clueless post but wernt the original poster, you need to take off moyes tinted classes, no ones challenging moyes credentials but are performances have dropped of late and fresh blood was needed for a lift, you clearly don't go the match urself because you would realise this MikedeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

I go the match, and most of the people there have no clue what they are on about, and it looks like most of them post on this site! Questioning David Moyes and BK?! Give me a break! We made a signing the kid is quality end of! To the bloke complaining about Ossies performances maybe next time you go the match open your eyes you'll get a better view of what's going on!
You lot need to back the team and the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

The Right back is a Great signing for us, shame we didn't add a striker but i'm sure Jelly will get back on track and bang a few in. Anyway lads this is The " Greatest Team " in the land so lets all stick together and support them. COYB.

Steve
( North Wales Blue ).

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to admit that it's a bit of a let down we don't bring in any marquee signing so to speak. However, to suggest the departure of Gueye is going to cripple an otherwise thin squad is ludicrous. He's a youngster who ha been rather ineffectual at best this season so gettig him on loan is best for us.

As for pushing for champs league, were only a point off fourth. We've got a strong first team, hitzlsperger as cover for CM along with Junior and maybe heitinga. We've got Duffy as back up for CB if heitinga can't cover and just signed a potential England right back. The negativity is what will kill the team's chance of pushing for fourth, not the fa t our squad is small.

With luck in injuries and suspensions, we can challenge spurs and arsenal. We should realistically be happy that fellaini stayed and look forward to the summer as the evidence is that even if we don't get CL, we've still got a bit of cash and the ability to attract some decent players (read Negredo/Fer/Capoue).

Blue Crobs {Ed025's Note - good post crobs..

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's stop getting personal about these things, it's about opinions. I personally think that this was a pivotal moment in whether Moyes will sign a new contract. I think that he is a man of integrity and will not walk out on the club mid contract. Come the summer he is out of contract and has a decision to make. If the board have not made funds available (the reason for this is another discussion) then why should he sign a new contract and if he doesn't I wish him no ill feeling and thank him for the job he has done. We have a real opportunity here and 1 signing may be the difference - we will never know. I think that it is a missed opportunity and one that may not come round again for a number of years, if ever there was a time to speculate to accumulate, this was it. I hope that Moyes stays but do not blame him if he walks away, he has done a fantastic job with his hands tied. Here's hoping for a good run with limited injuries and suspensions. COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't matter what the board an manager do as some so called fans will never be satisfied. Always there to snipe when things don't go well, get a grip of yourselves. We were close to signing Fer but, with such a big fee and the fact that Twente decided to keep quiet about his injury problems, the deal was too much of a gamble. We have bought well in this window in previous seasons but there was nothing out there that represented a good deal for our club. Whatever cash was at hand for transfers will roll on in to the summer, you should all be patient and wait for when prices aren't as inflated. We are having a good season so don't rock the boat. So good that the BU haven't had much to say so far! IMWT

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your thinking we made a signing, I didn't realise that's how football works, we signed a player for the future the next few months could possibly be the most important in years, we need champions league or as he has said already felliani is leaving, I beileve we can finish 4th still but if we do finish 5th europas not ideal for a squad our size for the returns, I hope your still optimistic then

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2013 16:34:47
best manager this club as ever had grow up

Agree0 Disagree0

The only top players we were going to sign were either newspapers trying to whip up a story or we dreamers on here. The Fer deal fell through for a proper reason and Negredo was never really a goer. I don't recall Bill or Davie actually promising anybody.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because the guy is a signing for the future doesn't negate the fact that he's a signing. Bags of potential and being lauded as a genuine RB of England quality in years to come is solid business.

I wholly agree that this window was an opportunity to solidify our chances of getting CL. I also agree that it was disappointing that we didn't get that marquee signing. However, where we disagree is the direction the club is going.

We nearly signed Fer, only for us to be unwilling to gamble on the state of his knees. Perhaps he would have came and been fine for the rest of his career, the fans love him and he became a future CL winner with us. Perhaps he'd have joined, blew his knee out against Villa on saturday, missed the rest of the season and ultimately got sold on two seasons later for 3million - who knows.

What we do know though, is that we are being linked with a higher calibre of player. Perhaps the Negredo deal was smoke up our arse, but we genuinely had interest in M'Villa. We had interest in Fer too and according to Moyes' press conference, we tried for a lot more of names we don't know. The thing about January is, is that prices are inflated and most transfers are unwanted players/mercenaries (see QPR's January recruitments). The fact that we've not signed someone and strengthened our squad is disappointing, but not galling. I trust Moyes and the board that they did everything they could in January to get the right type of player in for the right deal for EFC, and that if that wasn't possible then so be it.

We've pushed Spurs close, their fans even admit themselves that we look stronger at the moment. If we end up finishing 5th and getting Europa League, do you think I am going to be disappointed about a return to Europe for the first time in 5 years? Honestly, if that's the case then I'd be a rubbish fan, since that would be an incredible achievement. Getting Champion's League is the dream, and to be so close now when we've been out of Europe for so long is not a reason to be disappointed, its a reason to look optimistically at the rest of the season and to help push the squad on through support.

Sorry for the rant eds and fans alike, I just felt the need to debunk this negativity over what I consider to be a successful season.

Blue Crobs

Agree0 Disagree0

Blue Corbs has hit the nail on the head with one of, if not the, most sensible comments that I have read on this site. That is how all Everton fans should view our progress this season. Trust the board, trust the manager and trust the players. European football will be back with us come the end of the season, we all would have took that back in August. IMWT
spudv {Ed025's Note - i agree spud, im sure some people think we are in the relegation places..

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Feb 2013 09:02:25
Moyes aren't going no where, he would be stupid to do so IMO.
He said him self that its difficult to get the players you need in January thare going to IMPROVE the squad we have, like Blue Corbs said we are generally being linked with higher quality players, we are moving in the right direction, the fact that M'villa only didn't come to us because them russians have got silly amounts of money and bid 3million more than we did.
Leroy Fer was excited to come to us but unfortunately failed a medical.
Last but not least, Negredo. . . now who knows whether it was genuine, in my opinion it was and we just didn't have that little bit more money to make it happen. Listening to Greame Hunter on deadline day he said the Sevilla chairman is hard to deal with so with the money we had it was probably never going to happen.
To the signing we did get John Stones, a highly rated Right Back as already mentioned, this would of been a signing in the past that wouldn't of signed for us and opted for somewhere else. I know that it was supposedly only Wigan that was interested but still, IMO it would never have happened in the past.

To be linked with the players above, between Fer, M'villa and negredo, definately one of them would of happened, circumstances being right of course.
because they didn't happen, with genuine reason for fer and m'villa, why would we settle for anything else like the names mentioned e.g doyle, bent and even diame. so why just waste the money on something when we can go back in the summer and properly test the resolve for Negredo.

As much as I was dissappointed with the business we did, I actually trust Moyes and Kenwright for that matter, and actually thinking about it, its actually good business by the pair.

Why? The group of players we have for and have still got are just 1 point behind 4th spot? Get behind the team!

Agree0 Disagree0

Coz we will get injuries and be screwed and also we have a striker who cannot score come on lets be realistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr positive

Agree0 Disagree0

Had injuries all season but we are still up there! You never know!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not that we can't get fourth, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the players that we have, it's just that there are so few of them it makes it a lot less likely.

I know people being relentlessly down beat can be annoying, but so can blind optimism. Realistically speaking this season was/is our best chance at getting Champions League and right now it does feel like a bit of missed opportunity.

However 3 points against Villa, a result at Old Trafford and a place in the quarter-finals and we'll all be rocking again.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's no point in being pragmatic here. We get screwed over and over. What a chance is going to blow past. As has been said the squad is too small

Moyes still has just two targets however it could workout where both neither or one of fer or Negredo comes in before deadline. neither of the deals are dependant on Everton, both deals are in the hands of the respective clubs. most likely to happen is Fer as all the formalities are done its just for twente to agree

European football expert Andy Brassell has been keeping a watchful eye on Alvaro Negredo: "You might hear the sound of a door creaking open, as Negredo just might still get a Premier League move. His cash-strapped club Sevilla were hoping to sell Fazio to Zenit St Petersburg, but the Russian champions' move for the defender broke down over personal terms after the two clubs agreed a €7m fee, according to Estadio Deportivo. Portugal under-21 centre-back Luis Neto looks like being the alternative for Zenit following reports they've struck a deal with his club, Siena. "

come on ed anything in the pipe line mate speke blue {Ed001's Note - literally all we have here between us is enquiries about Matty Phillips and Nathan Redmond. I don't know the outcome of the Phillips one, but Everton told Brum to come back to them when they lower their price. That was before the sale of Butland, when Birmingham were a little more desperate to sell, so Everton were holding the cards. Now I would have to think Birmingham would probably look to keep hold of Redmond, unless someone meets their asking price. Though I doubt it is out of Everton's reach, it may mean Moyes decides not to bother.}

whats your take on things edd, do you think the negredo deal could happen, or any other deals?? {Ed001's Note - sorry Ed025 isn't about yet, but we know of enquiries about Redmond of Birmingham and Phillips of Blackpool being made by Everton. It seems a right winger is the focus now. Both players would be possible signings, Birmingham need the money and Blackpool are resigned to losing Phillips (apparently).}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Just putting this 2 pence worth out there. This striker deal may have gone quiet as Moyes has told the agents to says its fell through. To avoid getting our hopes up, only to be let down like the Fer Deal.

Maybe, maybe not, just a thought, I've just read a the rumour about Suarez to replace Ballotelli, now that would be comical

hate to be the bearer of bad news but sadly despite concerted efforts Everton will not be signing anyone today. all our eggs were in the Fer basket and Moyes only had 3 other targets which have all been declined. on a plus nobody is being sold. Moyes was only looking at quality and despite a large January budget was happy to spend it all on one player if they were the right player. Moyes has left Goodison with the final 12.5 million offer for Negredo turned down by Seville due to them not having enough time to replace him.

Source: sports republic news app:

1. Bill spoke to Birmingham about a possible deal for Butland with him being loaned back straight away. the lad wants 1st team football and he could be a good one for the future. Could be a Go-er.

2. Moyes looks to Ofoe after Fer deal collapsing and has ruled out reviving the deal. No more needs to be said about this, just that he hopes history isn't re-written.

Wigan have had a bid of 3million accepted for right back stone. One that has got away! Johno.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

He hasent got away yet, we may match the offer, plus I heared we are his preferance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barnsley fan here, your right i, ve been told

From Guardian - Negredo deal being discussed - Everton trying to drive down 15 million Euro price tag.

One more player being chased. Also Chelsea bid £15 million for Felliani. £10 million over 12 months, the rest in clauses.

Understand Fer might come in on loan

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Fellaini 15mil.
Fer on loan haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing on the Guardian website about Chelsea/Fella is "despite constant rumours about Marouane Fellaini going to Chelsea, Everton continue to insist there will be no major departures. " (10:22, Deadline Day Live)

If you're going to make stuff up it's probably best not to make it so easy to check.

Agree0 Disagree0

If chelsea have bid 15 mil for fellaini, which I doubt they have, it would be an offensive amount. Especially considering the payment details that you have mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

£15m for Fellaini!!! Do me a favour!! I really want to shout and swear at you for being full of IT! But my post won't get through vetting!!

Dave M

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini £15m, you havin a giraffe. If you going to make up rumours at least try to give them a bit of substance.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 million? only 10 upfront? you're an absolute joke. why say rubbish like this? If anyone thinks we would sell Felli for less than we bought him then you're living in a dreamworld

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably best you learn to read first:

From Guardian - Negredo deal.

New sentence.

Felliani deal.

New sentence.

Fer on loan

Donovan Boarded a flight at 930UK time from LAX- 11 Hour Flight would get him to the UK by 8:30 tonight. that's if that's were the plane was going trying to find out

Believable4 Unbelievable5

He did mate, plane was bound for France tho I think. The two gates were he was seen one was going to France the other was Birmingham.

Agree0 Disagree0

And PSG have called a press confrence,,, its Landon, not Beckham, or both. . lol, maybe he is on holiday still, looking for a mountain to climb. . .

Agree0 Disagree0

Landon is a free now. He doesn't need to sign before the window shuts.

Heard Negredo on his way, trying to force the move but sevilla want 11m we only have 8-9m.
Plus this page needs to be updated more on a day like this hahah Maccablue

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I am praying this happens but he has 3 owners. Another tevez job

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard Kenwright spoke to Birmingham about Butland and we are about to table a bid for Negredo. Stones from Barnsley is very possible and we may even loan Fer or even sign him if Twente have a change of heart. This is what I have read through websites etc. with quite a reporter saying his contacts in Spain think the Negredo deal will happen.

Fer Deal looks like a loan until summer with the option at the end, Alvaro Negredo Deal will be a last 30 second Job tonight.

Negredo will sign before deadline, Sevilla is desperate for the money and this is our advantage. I've heard that we also try for a loan spel with Defour. That would be excelent !! Hope all this is true and we will reach the four place :)

everton after diame and defour

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Diame is a bit lame. .and devour. . haven't we heard his name before? like every transfer window for the past 4 years!!. boring.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diame would be a decent buy for a good price. I would prefer somebody like capoue, or if the fer deal went smoother but nontheless this would be a decent signing. Defour would be a great signing. If I was to pick between the two I would pick defour. One of these Negredo and a full back would be amazing. I haven't got my head in the clouds though, and I know it is possible that we don't sign anyone.

Everton have opened talks with Sevilla about a deadline day deal for Spain striker Alvaro Negredo after an £8.6m move for Leroy Fer collapsed.

Everton will resume talks on Thursday morning about Negredo, 27, who is rated at £13m by Sevilla.

However, he may be sold for much less before the transfer deadline because of financial difficulties at the club.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Just also read that Spurs have made a 15 mil bid. . hopefully just BS. (Wavertree Blue)

heard the fer deal could happen with him coming on loan then a deal being sorted in the summer, hope this is true

Believable6 Unbelievable7

If his knee problem prevented us signing him why on earth would we risk a lot of dollar in wages getting him in on loan??shame but can't see that mate!!

stones to sign today will mean no deal neville in summer .also reports in spain say deal close for negredo big signing this would be moyes going for 4th place. gibbo

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Lets hope you right about Neville

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the stats mate, shows we are a better team with Neville in it. I think we will give him another year hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds good to me.i would be happy with that.have been saying for ages that we need a quality right back.we have 3 and none of them do it for me.
in fact if you transfer listed all 3 of them we would get no offers at all from any premier clubs.

Oh my days ed I've just been reading 2mrws papers apparently were bidding 9mil for negrado seen him a few times like but still went on YouTube and to quote my son ed this lad looks "sick" if we can pull this of I'd be happy with that like but would still want a cm not that I'm greedy just think we need it badly. LIAM!!

Believable12 Unbelievable2

He's got a good scoring record in what is the only league of comparable quality to the EPL. Plus he has actually played for Spain, albeit only a few times but still if he can break into one of the greatest teams to have ever played football (if not the greatest) he must have some serious talent.
