Jonathan de Guzman is only on loan at Swansea, think we should go for him at the end of the season if we don't go back for Fer. I really rate him.

Believable24 Unbelievable10

Good call AJ, but he has been singing the praises of Swansea and how he'd like to stay. It doesn't rule anything out but makes it more difficult to land him. Top draw player though.

Twente Chairman: "One minute it sorted at £8m, next it was a loan, then £2m. This was before a medical, before he'd even got on the plane. "

Believable20 Unbelievable9

Would't surprise me. The whole media circus designed to make our fans believe that the board wanted to spend money. Same thing happened at the end of the August window with Ofoe, "paperwork was submitted too late" I never believed it. If it was true why didn't they go for him in january. I'm afraid they are taking us for mugs! {Ed025's Note - give it up, with these conspiracy theories will ya!!...its getting boring..

Agree0 Disagree0

What is it with some people? I'm not interested where you plucked this quote from, the fact remains Twente tried to screw us over by not informing us how serious his knee injury was. Any club would have tried to renegotiate the terms, after all 8m plus is a lot of money. As for saying EFC tried to change terms before the lad got on the plane, did you see the picture of him, his girl and his agent on a private jet? Didn't look like he had a care in the world. I would have thought his club would prevent him from leaving the country if the terms had altered in the slightest. Get a grip, we have lost 3 games all season and it's now February! Some people just like to cause problems where there are none.

Its not about how many games you lose,
its about how many games you win,
utd have only lost 3 but there 20 points

Agree0 Disagree0

Do these persons that call themselves everton fans really think they're that important that our board, BK and moyes would go to such elaborate lengths to pretend to sign a player (s) just for some bizarre reason to keep them happy. I think they should go back and read their David Icke books again. you can only feel sorry for them, weren't at the front of the Q when the brains were given out. TomD {Ed025's Note - they were very near the back tom..

Agree0 Disagree0

How serious the knee was? HE PASSED THE MEDICAL? he's been playing since recovery and I suspect will continue playing till end of season. Google his type of injury. really not that serious.

Agree0 Disagree0

They weren't necessarily happy with the way the surgery was done and wasn't healing as they had hoped, I believe they were concerned about some sort of scar tissue or something, not 100% sure.

Think they are just waiting to see how he goes until the summer, if he can stay fit and then re-assess the knee and see if it has been recovering properly and then make a decision.

Fingers crossed they sign, he is the player we lack in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not suggesting Moyes was involved but he's an intelligent man and can't believe he will put up with much more of this. If we had £8.5m to spend why was it left until the last week of the transfer window. I think if some of our fans had half a brain they would be able to work out something here is not quite right

Agree0 Disagree0

To the anonymous poster who states utd have lost the same but are 20 points clear, you missed the point entirely. I'm clearly pointing out that the majority of real fans would have been more than happy being in this position back in August. Why would the board 'pretend' to buy someone? It doesn't make sense does it? And for another to state he 'passed' the medical! I have no words to describe how silly that sounds. If he had passed we would not be talking about it as he would be in our squad. persons, are you doom mongers part of that stupid Blue Union, nothing better to do other than run down the club you claim to support. Crazy.

No! Our club wouldn't dupe people?thats why every season when the season tickets are about to go on sale we have a so called consortium looking to buy us? Hmmm! Also remember the Ravinelli fiasco

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm certainly not a member of the blue union. But because football clubs in general assume that the majority of their fans are pretty stupid they get away with it. Remember what sir John hall said about Newcastle fans all those years ago

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not agree with the conspiracy theorists but the lack of strategic thought is the issue I have with the board.

In business you will always develop a strategy that will provide you with the option required to ensure the maximum chances of success. To have left our business until the last minute again after the Ofoe experience demonstrates naivety at the highest level.

We have not left ourselves with any options at the end of the window Where is the strategic planning and thought in managing our continued success? This is where I think we have been let down as fans with an "eggs in one basket" approach.

The strategic approach needs to be taken much more seriously- come on guys. Get serious.

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster needs to grow up. I bet its a laugh a minute in his house! I'm sure we did everything we could in the transfer window but sometimes it doesn't work out. Last year it worrked out this year maybe not. I've heard bill is going 2 vegas in the summer with the 8m to try and double it so keep the faith.

Look Liverpool realize that they still have a chance of getting into the top 4 so what do they do, yeah they go spend what is it 28 million trying to do just that. I believe we only needed a strong midfielder and we would secure that spot, only now I fear we missed a excellent chance to freshen up the squad and make a final push for that spot.

Not sure how reliable the source will have been (it's come from one of the lads who's just left Everton on loan), but the Fer deal was put in place as a safeguard to have someone in place to cover for Fellaini's departure. Tentative enquiries were made near the end of the window and it was thought that his minimum release clause was going to be activated. When no firm bid came in, we had no option but to back out of the deal due to lack of funds and it was decided that in terms of PR damage limitation we could restructure the deal using the scar tissue as leverage. We didn't even have the £3m upfront that Barnsley wanted (and had tentatitvely accepted from Wigan) for Stones, before he decided to join us instead. As someone mentioned above, no doubt there will be circulating rumours of Indian businessmen brokering a takeover deal when it comes around to renewing our season tickets and I personally just hope that the squad avoid any serious injuries so we can stay in touch near the top. are we that lucky though?

Agree0 Disagree0

This last post looks spot on to me - it explains it all - everton were never going to buy him outright as we all know there's no spare money - so it was a cover option for a late Fellaini bid {Ed025's Note - hmmm..

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm shocked to read some comments here, I honestly didn't realise that my team has so many poisonous fans hell bent on causing friction when we are having a decent season. Forget the bull about Fellaini, he came out months ago and told us his plans. Forget LFC, they spent 35m 12 months ago on a striker who has scored less goals this year than our left back. We now have one game per week, barring cup replays or postponed matches, so the squad should now benefit from extra rest time. Get behind the club, not oppose it. ETID

Didn't know Dan Brown was posting on these forums. Honestly, to hear all these conspiracy theories about how terrible our club is run, how poor our transfer policy is and how the board try to manipulate us - its baffling you can call yourselves fans.

Last time I checked the table we were above Arsenal (CL finalists couple years back and very successful EPL club) and above Liverpool (bitter rivals who've had a large amount of success over the past years). To suggest our season is now a failure because the board didn't gamble with funds coming in in the summer is pathetic doom-mongering and will damage the club.

I do however look forward to hearing what problems you all have when we are playing European football next year.

Unfortunately I do believe the board of our great club would try to hoodwink the fans. I can remember one summer when we bid 7M for Alan Smith knowing full well Manchester United were bidding 8m. I am sure I could come up with others.

Despite the quote in the opening statement, I can understand why fans are slightly annoyed, we had all month to bring in cover for midfield and seem to have put are eggs in one basket with the fer deal.

although I think this wasnt a stunt by the club I beileve the fact we had no other options lined up is bad business, we may not be in this good of a position next yr and as a season ticket holder for the last 11 yrs i'm entiteled to my opinion. if poeple wanna say fans are posionous because were playing a 36 year old full back cm and are covers a player that was on a free then go ahead.

Another manager leaves Nottingham Forest - what a way to run a football club. For all his self-confessed inability to substantially fund our club himself and his forlorn (to date) pursuit of really big investment, BK has supported DM in overseeing our club's progress during the past decade from what was the danger of relegation through mid-table and top-half security to challenging for the European places. For those fans who blame BK for not handing over to new big-money owners no matter what their attitude and agenda might be as long as they splash the cash, be careful we don't end up with those who seem to lack the patience, knowledge, and wisdom to hold their nerve. IMHO, no-one who invests in a professional football club should expect to make a financial return - even in these days of huge television money and lucrative European prize money. Even the successful clubs with massive income, turnover, and (occasional) profits seem to be based on absolutely enormous debts. Investing in a club surely has to be just like being an ordinary supporter - it's a labour of love albeit tempered by financial prudence and not pouring money down a black hole and not putting the club's very existence at risk. Owning and/or supporting a club cannot be defined in my mind by any rational explanation. That's why it's: once a blue, always a blue!

Well said. As much as I'd like Everton to be playing in a 70,000 seater stadium and in the Champions League, few takeovers deliver this promise and risk losing the essence of what makes a club great

Patrice Motsepe has changed his mind about investing his billions in EPL (Everton was his preferred team). He has decided to donate half of his billions to charity. Google if you don't believe this. What a waste of transfer money!
