Seen that Newcastle are in advanced talks with Ayoze Perez who the media linked us with in January and Jack Colback who has been linked with us. Any chance Roberto will try to hijack either of those deals?

{Ed025's Note - if he wants them he will joe..

I think Colback has his heart set on a move to his boyhood club Newcastle. don't know about the other one.

Financial fair play: Mandzukic, Costa, Fabregas, new center half, Shaw +-(110 mil) Ba, Lukaku, Torres, Bertrand, Lampard, Cole, Obi Mikel +- (50 mil) with a huge reduction in the wage bill. Lukaku will go both for the money and Morinho has a long memory. Trouble is it won't be Everton!

{Ed025's Note - i fear you may be right smeggs..

I'm with both of you. Lukaku doesn't want to come here and there will be plenty of 40 pieces of silver on the table to buy his soul. It's time we accepted it and moved on

Luis Muriel wants out of Udinese; it seems he favours to stay in Serie A with Fiorentina or Roma, surely we could afford him and attract him if he wanted a move to England. I just think we won't enter a bidding war with those teams and if he comes to England it'll be to Spurs or Arsenal.

What do you think Ed? & do you know if we will see a marquee signing this summer?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Muriel he has signed a new long term contract at Udinese, but there is still interest from Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan. His focus was on getting in to the Columbian side for the World Cup (which he didn't) and now perhaps he will see what offers are on the table this summer as he is not getting as much game time as he wants. Getting a work permit for England may not be easy either.}

Luis muriel would be a great signing. He's young and strong enough to get to grips with the premiership very quick. He didn't play as much as he would have liked last season with udinese. That was because of a clash with the coach. he's a very good finisher and if we got him for round the £8mil mark, then I reckon we would have a star on our hands

2 new signings to look forward to already. Gibson and Kone both back and should be raring to go for the start of the season. Both players well liked by Bobby and should fit in well to the style we've adopted.

Gibbo I really hope he can capture some of his old form

Kone is a different matter.

His age + the type of injury and time out + his style of play = not good for us

Agree3 Disagree0

Tough to judge him on the few minutes he played at the beginning of the season whilst unfit. 30 is no longer 'old' for a footballer. If he didn't fit Martinez's style - why did he buy him? You could well be right - but i'll reserve judgement for the time being.

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think either of them will make that much of a difference, midfield quite strong even better if we get Barry, but we must get a striker I don't see Kone getting 20 + goals for us

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - nor me mate..

I will not comment on Gibbo. let's wait and see how his injury woes pan out. Kone is another matter. The poor guy suffers malaria and I assume is on permanent medication. Added to which he is Muslim, so fasts when Ramadam comes round. ie he does not eat in daylight. Add in his injuries and I would suggest that perhaps his lifestyle and well being are not totally suited to be a professional footballer? When we got 6 million for Anichebe, I was over the moon. When we spent it on the 30 year old footballer (Kone) I was devastated!
