Onuoha's Everton move collapsed over wages
Nedum Onuoha was set to sign for Everton on loan before the closure of the transfer window but the deal fell apart when Manchester City refused to pay any of his £38,000 salary, according to a report in The Guardian.

Sky Sports ran a story on deadline day that the two clubs were in negotiations over the defender but no further updates were provided and the link was quickly forgotten.

How useless are Man city, shows how classless they are that over paying some of the lad's wages there prepared to let him sit in the reserves instead of the kid progressing his career with everton on loan ! {Ed025's Note - i dont know why you are blaming city...the blame lies with our minge bag of a board!..they could have got a decent player, without paying a fee...and he is hardly on megastar wages!..typical..

Believable10 Unbelievable2

If we cant afford the wages we cant afford them simple as. Move on {Ed025's Note - im not moaning mate...just putting the point that it is not city,s fault that we wont pay his wages....

Agree0 Disagree0

But we didn't get the Yobo deal done in time to free up the money for Onouha did we. It's about cash flow.
You can't/shouldn't spend money you don't have. How many people on here run their own business? You wont last long without decent cash flow. Everton are trying to exist within their resources. It doesn't make for glamour signings but it does give us a chance/hope for the future

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but Evertons cash flow issues aren't Citys problem. And laddo at the top suggests it is unfair that city refuse to pay a huge wad of someones wages for him to play for another team! Why would they and more importantly why should they. If Onuoha is so desperate to play 1st team football he would take a wage cut. He had plenty of opportunities to move permanantly this season transfer window and insisted he wanted to fight for his place. So which ever way you look at it the blame does not lay with city. I hate city by the way and even I can see the poor logic in the post above

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you may find that it was nothing to do with wages.
All fees were agreed.
The problem was that due to the rulings for Champions League and home grown players they needed Onuoha to reach their quota, and didn't have anyone else that qualified.
Had they had someone else he would now be at Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you Ed025. We must have got at least £150k off the wage bill of late so should have got this lad he is quality. Typical of the way our club is being rn into the ground by kenwright, elstone, earl and the rest of the board of muppets

Agree0 Disagree0

Would he really help us? 38k a week to sit on the bench, basically replacing Yobo? No, the money was better spent, on a winger and a striker, no point in getting another CB

Agree0 Disagree0

Right im sick and tired of all this lets blame the board for everything. Lets be honest if Kenwright didnt run the club the way he does, well we would exist anymore we would be just another club that had gone into administration. Yeah we are not a rich a club but i would rather be run by someone who loves the club than some rich person who see the club as a play thing. Kenwright himself as said he want to sell but only to the right people who can show how there going to progress the club HE LOVES, every other club i.e Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, were sold to the highest bidders and not one of them owners love there club they just see it as a money maker. So for gods sake get off the boards back and support the club (the whole club) {Ed001's Note - that is simply not true, there is no way of knowing what would happen if someone else ran the club. It could be a Roman/Mansour type, or perhaps someone like Morgan at Wolves or Peace at West Brom, both of whom own smaller clubs who operate at a profit and find the manager money to spend.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Waste of time and money hes not needed unless heitinga was sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people on here need to wake up to kenwright and stop eating up all the s**t he feeds them with. I know he is an everton fan he rams his boys pen bulls**t down our throats all the time but he doesnt know how to run, market or sell a football club. End of

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the longer reply above. I make the points and ask all of you the question, what are peoples alternatives to the current situation? Just saying, they are no good and we need to sell to someone does not cut it.

Kenwright and the board have;
1) Secured Moyes as manager on an ongoing basis.
2) Bought stability to the club
3) We have finished consistently high up the league, some seasons in Europe.
4) Reached an FA Cup final.
5) Produced a string of young talent.
6) Built and now own a state of the art modern training complex.
7)Signed corporate deals with multiple partners.
8) At least tried to look at stadium options.
9) Retained (almost) all of our best players by paying higher wages.
10) In the main supported the manager with transfer funds, until now.

Fact is right now we have to accept that the progress made to date has slowed and adjust out expectations as such. The club moves on, please do not further undermine our season with this ongoing nonsense. Great squad, two new exciting signings, cash flow under control, £15M odd in from sales plus the easing of wages. Come on Villa on Sat at home, lets make some noise and get behind the team and the club.....Remember the 1990's everyone? Not that great a time was it. That was all mostly with a chairman who threw money about he didnt have. Long term survival is more important than short term gambles. I dont want to tempt fate but lets see where Stoke end up for example. Nothing about them but they have spent sh*t loads!

LETS BE POSITIVE!! COYB!!!! {Ed025's Note - thats a great post mate..you paint a very rosy picture of the club.......but the facts are, that at the moment we are becoming stagnant! i do agree about supporting the club, however, most fans are concerned about the direction the club is heading, we consider ourselves a big club, but are being held back by the small minded attitude of the board...if mid table mediocrity makes you happy ,then your post is spot on!, however if like me, you want to see the club we love progress, and be challenging for top honours, its time for change..starting at the top!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play ed. i agree we do need change to move and i definitely want to see the club move on and challenge. not so long ago we almost made it to the champs league, that would really have changed things. i just think we need to accept some things for now, and however much it angers people at the moment we still have to accept that in terms of tradition, support we a big club but in the current climate we are sadly not. we havent been for years. i firmly believe one day we will be again and will never waver but at the moment we fans and the togetherness is what is needed. the board room situation will ultimately move on, i just think all this negativity and protesting could unsettle the players and worse unsettle moyes. lets take the roof off every ground we go to this season (again) and show people our club is great.....its our spirit and united front that scares the sh*t out of other teams as well as the talent on the field. {ed025's note - good stuff mate....lets hope that saturday is the start of something big for the blues, new blood...new hope..new ambition...top 6...here we come!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to mention, the original post about man city refusing to pay any of the wages and then a couple of replies slating the post...... 90 per cent of clubs, when loaning a player pay 50 per cent or more on some occasions of the players wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Blue Union, should be ashamed of themselves protesting at the game this weekend. We should be gettinh behind the team not protesting against the club i think its a utter disgrace and i for hope Everton fc ban all the fans participating for all future games. An utter disgrace. i always though we were fans that would not protest like the Liverpool fans, Man Utd fans but then the single minded peopl estep forward and decided the drag this club further down.

Agree0 Disagree0

With the above on that, its not going to help. The reason they have given to the press stating its not to get Kenwright and the board out in my view is total rubbish. Something about protesting so that teh CEO runs the club and the chairman and board find buyers for the club......excuse me if I have missed something isnt that what they are doing anyway? totally pointless......lets hope the team do not see it and are affected by it. By the way as far as I know Fellani hasnt signed his contract has he? Not the best way to encourage players to believe in the club and sign really is it?? Other than leaking information from a confidential interview not heard a single thing from them to state what their aims and reasons for all of this are?? {Ed025's Note - on the fellani issue..no, he has not signed, and as much as i like him as a player..if he does not sign by january, i would get shut of him!..we dont want another peanuts saga..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Ed, we need to get maximum return if we are to sell on players. I rate Fellani on his day and hate to see him go as well. My point was purely that B.U arent helping at the moment. {Ed025's Note - the thing is...unless the faithful do something...then nothing will change!, the reds did it with hicks and gillette. if the sponsors see that the supporters arent happy, then they will act..we have got to try and save the club, before it implodes!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Take on what your saying, but the only thing the sponsors will potentially do if they see the club they back in this light is probably pull their money out! not going to help really is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

On the above, mate we are fighting a battle agains a wall here, us few true fans who will support the club no matter what and look at all the thing Kenwright has done for us want get through to this Blue Union numptees. And ED the protests at Liverpool didnt work Gillete and Hicks would still be owners if it wasnt for the bank stepping in. Just stop this protest on Saturday as it aint go to do nothing but make us (EVERTON) any better, is it. Examples it didn't work at Liverpool, It hasnt worked at united, and it didnt work at Villa, its simple when fans protest it doesnt work it just makes you all look like little hooligans and i hope they get treated as hooligans {Ed001's Note - protests did nothing at Liverpool you are correct, but the boycott of the banks and advertisers did work. It was those that caused the bank into action, but would they have come about without the protests? Hard to say. Personally I feel that protests can be as counter-productive as they are productive.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with the above. Liverpool did alright as yes the action prompted the bank into action and a buyer suddenly was found.....not guranteed. Think the protests are a waste of time....grow up

Yobo away to Fenerbache on a season long loan for a fee of £600k, with a view to buy on a permanent deal of £2m.

Knowing Fenerbache they'll offer us £500k to buy him!
