hearing eto'o to sampdoria is almost done. does that mean defoe for free and pay him what eto'o was on??
thoughts ed?

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed025's Note - it is rumoured £45k tony, im not so sure about him going though..

09 Jan 2015 16:05:48
What do you mean rumoured 45k a week? don't tell me we are getting defoe. We go from SAMUEL ETO'O, one of the greatest strikers of the past decade, champions league winner with barcelona and inter milan, multiple accolades for african player of the decade, decorated alongside thierry henry and ronaldinho for barcelona. To JERMAINE DEFOE, a man who struggled to get in a tottenham team ahead of a poor adebayor, a man who has won nothing, a player who harry redknapp actually prefers peter crouch over and who's only links since going to the mls have been qpr and hull, decorated alongside niko kranjar and aaron lennon, jesus christ!

09 Jan 2015 17:43:59
Guess that means you don't rate Defoe then. Me too

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2015 22:06:26
But honestly apart from the burnley game and a few Clever flicks I haven't rated etoo much this season either. If we get three mil for him that isn't bad considering we signed him for nothing.

10 Jan 2015 00:47:08
Hope we get Defoe just what we need. a proven goal scorer. No idea why people would rather have eto'o. Yes he was good in his prime but is clearly past it where as Defoe alongside Rom would be some partnership

10 Jan 2015 07:59:57
Yeh but when are we ever going to play defoe next to lukaku. I can only remember once recently that we have actuallyplayed 2 up front. we normally play one off of the strike which for me has to be barkley. if we are bringing someone in, I think it should be a real quick striker that plays on the shoulder of defenders. that way we have a real alternative to lukaku.

Woh there swan u didn't even want us to sign eto if I remember right!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2015 18:41:46
You do remember right, what you should also remember was a long post I did before he signed saying I like the idea of him signing more and more. You must have a very selective memory mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm must have missed that 1 pal. Dunno about Selective? I do tend to remember when people talk bs though buddy

Oh its bs? Okay I will find it, copy and paste it back here for you okay? You just sit there and don't bother looking up de facts.

Really huge reply this mate, also includes replies, date, time, would take a while to make all this up- 26 Aug 2014 04:09:27
The more I think about it (ive been up 3 hours straight doing nothing but thinking about this potential signing) the more the samuel eto'o transfer interests me, at first I was all 'no he's possibly 40 and wants loads of dosh' but now i'm more calm and have really come to terms with it, IF he joins (i can just imagine waking up and seeing he rejected us and went to saudi arabia or something) I know, at most he will be on 70k a week, this is the same as pienaar, yes its a 2 year deal, I think he will be a DECENT addition, let's look at the negatives to this, his age is up for debate, but in 2010 he was outsprinting 3 defenders, running the whole length of the field and only being stopped by the goalkeeper tackling him, if he can do that at the supposed age of 37, not bad, he has though, evidently, lost a yard or 2 of pace (not slow though), he won't beat people as easy and may fall behind play at times, his wage could be too excessive and he isn't as good as he used to be (seriously, who his age is still as good as they were 4 years ago), fitness could be a problem, especially seeing as our training sessions cause more injuries than a steroid induced dolph lundgren, he also has no sell on value (hes free so meh) and won't get any better (again, who does?), now let's look at the positives, he's a fantastic finisher, can still outpace most centre backs, has a phenominal goalscoring record which hasn't shown signs of regressing, even at chelsea, he could help develop rom, he has mountains of experience, will provide guaranteed goals, useful off the bench, gives us another option all together, the best thing? Its friggin ETO'O, not that long ago this man (pensioner?) was one of the best strikers in the world, the worst thing? The african cup of nations in january, he still hasn't retired so won't be available when that comes around (like kone, cept kone won't be going), I do love bobby, I am unsure about this signing although the more I think about it the more I seem to like the idea, of course el tacticos record in transfers so far is hit and miss, hits, j mac (engine), barry (the testicles, produces what we need, yet doesn't get the credit), del boy (andddd iiiiiiiiii will always love youuu), miss', alcaraz (inconsistent defender?), kone (never fit but owns a magic camel), mcgeady (apparently he's been a bad buy, I disagree but will put him here as that seems to be the vote from fickle *cough* I mean wonderfully knowledgable everton fans), joel (straq and kevs love child), still up for debat-ables, besic (snide) and atsu (bless you), let's see what the rest of the window brings us, i'm still holding out for ronaldo, messi and reus but if bobby brings in robben, aguero and falcao then I suppose that'll have to do, has henen signed yet?

{Ed025's Note - I enjoyed that swan. and no not yet mate.
26 Aug 2014 08:49:35
Good post.
26 Aug 2014 09:37:21
Haha Swan it's posts like this that make me glad you didn't stop posting on this site.
I'm with you on Eto'o. Without doubt the man, no matter how old, is talented. On a free transfer we couldn't really argue providing we are not paying him daft amounts each week. His experience will be invaluable, he has won numerous honours in different countries both in a team and individual. I know which geriatric I would rather have in my team. It has to be the one with major silverware over the one that holds the record for capping the most jars of beetroot on an 8 hour shift in Kirkby. The deal does seem to make sense the more you think about it.

You must have to much time on your hands mate ha. when I said bs I meant all of your post in general

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2015 21:22:48
Oh right, so eto didn't win the champions league (assuming you mean my first post on this thread)?. I love the fact you said I must have time on my hands, is that you saying that post about eto I pasted never happened and I made it all up on the spot, the date and time etc? So I must of hacked spudv's account and said what he said about it sounding familiar above, I am wasting my life then man. BUT IF when you say I have time on my hands actually means me taking time (about 2 minutes) to find it and paste it, well, those 2 minutes were well spent just as proof I said it, either way, win win for me mate.

11 Jan 2015 22:11:10
When is erelevent The fact that you slated eto and slated everton for going in for him then do a complete u turn just proves u haven't got a clue mate

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2015 22:24:49
Haha yes doing a u turn BEFORE he even signed, yeah, clueless from me that 'mate'. You see if he signed and then I said he's boss without seeing him play would be silly, but 99% of evertonians that didn't want us to sign him have been impressed, suppose they don't have a clue either mate. You see the thing is, using the power of thought I decided, before he signed, that it is not a bad signing. You can use the power of thought that every human being has and say something constructive and worthwile, instead of launching an attack after being proved wrong on TWO occasions, there's no need to be upset.

Just had a little peak at your account on here kingy, looking through recent posts and all, in the 26th of october you posted something along the lines of (im not changing anything i'm just trying to remember accuratly) 'wheres the eto slaters now ay hate to say I told yas so no I don't I told yas so now let me hear you say etoooooo'. So I do not see the problem here mate, I didn't like the idea of us getting him at first (rrmember this is way before he signed) but I spent a few hours going over the pros and cons of the signing and did that long post (to a positive response and remember he still hadnt signed by this point) and decided it would be quite decent, and he has been boss for us, I like him, judging by your post you like him so where is the problem here because it seems like either a misunderstanding, a head injury or you are the one doing a u turn on your opinion of sammy, so tell me, what's up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have to say...i thought of him as a mercenary and thought it would be a huge mistake to sign him..i hold my hands up...i have a huge respect for the guy..

Nothin up mate I was just making a comment but yeh I do like him and will be gutted if he goes.

{Ed025's Note - me too kingy..
