I can't see us bringing in a number 10 now, not a decent one who will have a first team impact anyway. I feel a little let down by the club. Had we really gone for it we could have brought in Yarmolenko, Ayew or Payet but we dither while other get there business done. As for Lennon he did ok last year but we don't use the winger we have and if it means playing him before Delofeu then I wouldn't really want him. Really plaesd we have stood firm over stones but is that just masking our inadequacies at landing player we need that would have an impact in our first team. Let's hope something late happens, I just can't see it. COYB

Would Hernandez for 7m not have been worth a punt!

Worth every penny imo TrueBlue86.

He would off but I'm sure I read that his demands were ridiculous can't remember were I read it but I'm sure West ham pulled out because he was asking for 100k a week and a 90k per goal bonus if that's true it would have finished bk off if he scored a hat trick lol

I'm a toffee living in London and take a lot of stick from fans of others team but I remain the eternal optumist. I hope that there are a couple of exciting transfers to come that maybe haven't even been mentioned because if not I have to say if we had made the effort we could have brought in names like Shaquri, Ayew, Cabeye and Wijnaldrum(spelt incorrect in sure)but I get this horrible feeling we are going to end up with Lennon and Evans which just offers no excitement whatsoever to me, don't get me wrong Lennon did ok on loan while trying to impress but I feel he may go missing if signed permanently. Most people my way think we will finish between 10-15th which hurts to hear, I'm hoping for top 7 at least but with teams like Stoke, Swansea, Palace and Southampton pushing for those European spots with the players they have brought in its hard to keep that faith. The board and manager need to show us they mean to keep our great club up there and bring in a signing or two that can invigorate a club heading into stagnation. I don't want to seem a negative poster, I was a season ticket holder last year and will always get behind whoever wears our blue shirt, I don't agree with those who boo but we have been so close to taking that next step for 10 years and it now seems others are going to beat us to it so a certain amount of frustration is warranted. I'm blue till the end and will always back my team I just hope our manager and board are prepared to do the same

Interesting comment by the OP about Lennon playing to impress when on loan last season. I've read one or two similar comments by respected ex-Everton pundits.
As for finishing position, as Evertonians we do view our prospects through blue-tinted glasses :-) Last season's performances - and the first half last Saurday - should have been enough of a wake-up call and perhaps a dose of reality - rather than wishful thinking and undaunted optimism - is called for.
If we didn't have so many injuries, if we didn't have so many players the wrong side of 30, if our young talent could already cope with the demands of playing first-team football against top-class opposition, if our manager could find the right formation and tactics to entertain and win, if our board could unearth some substantial investment, and if (some of) our fans could stop waiting for the first chance to criticise and boo the player(s) they don't like - well "if" all of above, then we might be alright, but it's clear that Carlsberg don't do Everton Football Club!

Let's not panic about the buy back clause, the player has to agree to go back and if memory serves me correctly Bojan left Barca for Roma with a similarly structured deal and they never took him back, bar injury he is a good player, he would have to turn into some player for Barca to take him back and him get first team football which is what he will want so I say let's enjoy him. Positive signing

If Ayew turns out to be brilliant at Swansea I'm going to be really annoyed, looks just the sort of player we need

TrueBlue86

Yeah me too True Blue. i'm Ghana be peeved if he's good. I'll look at RM and be like "Ayew serious, why didn't you sign him?"

Besides Del Boy and Nolito the names we are being liked with this summer are so uninspiring. We should get McCarthy tied down to a new deal, push for Del Boy and bring in Austin. I would like to see us bring in Ayew on a free and maybe Dann at the back but could be better options there

Ayew having a medical at Swansea looking highly likely that he will sign for them as he has the same agent as Gomis. Why we were not interested or if we were at what cost considering Cleverly is rumoured to have been given 50k a week. Baffles me when I see stories like the Ayew one considering there is no transfer fee and we apparently have a limited budget. I fear the worst as the names we are linked to show a clear lack of ambition and talk of top 4 is absolutely comical got more chance of connect 4 than top 4 but then again we would probably shirk at the price being asked for the game.

2.) 10 Jun 2015 20:26:28
Truth is Cleverley is proven poor premiership player Ayew has a season ahead of him yet to do it!

3.) 10 Jun 2015 23:00:52
Proven at what like

4.) 11 Jun 2015 18:28:42
Surely though from a business point Ayew would have sell on value if it didn't work out and if it does work out the sell on value would be considerably more wereas be lucky to get anything for Cleverly when not if it doesn't work out. I would rather have gambled on Ayew over Cleverly anyday of the week.

I think Austin could be a good buy at a good price if QPR go down Bretto

Rafa plays for Braga, he is only 21 and meant to have the potential to be special. Haven't heard much about Dunk

I can't see that happening, we're not exactly looking enticing for players right now. Would be a quality signing if it did happen just can't see it

We need to keep hold of him, very important player for the future imo. He is a natural replacement for Bainsy at LB in a few years and has the potential to be as good

I like Oviedo I just hope he can be used in a more attacking role so as to not prevent the progression on Garbutt, I think Garbutt is very important for the future and may be tempted to move on if his chance of game time is limited and considering the likelihood is we won't be in Europe next year there will be less games as it is

Completely agree Swan with that line up, exactly what I've been saying. We can hurt Spurs if we get at them, high tempo, make them work. I love beating Spurs, so many cocky Spurs fans where I live. COYB

Good post, worth thinking about, we will have to wait and see. I will get behind the lad until I have a reason to dislike him in a blue shirt

I agree we need new faces, I think Mirallas, Distin and Pienaar will leave but doubt we will have anywhere near £60m to spend. I'd like to see a new CB come in, Umtiti from Lyon would be a great shout but wether we could attract him after this season remains to be seen. Ayew on a free would be a great signing, i'd bring back Lennon for the right price and do all I could to get Garbutt signed long term even if that means letting Oviedo go. Up top, being realistic Charlie Austin could be worth a try as I think QPR will be relegated and he should be available at a reasonable price. As for a goalkeeper it does need to be addressed as for who to bring in I'm not to sure. I think Barkley will come good again next year and will a few additions we have a decent young spine in Stones, Besic, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku. I am gutted about this season, there seems like little left to get excited about, I thought Martinez should of gone a little while back but that's not going to happen, I just hope if he stays he spends whatever money we have wisely and works on a plan B!
