Is wenger totally of his head, a newspapr, have him making an offer of 16m for mcarther, granted it's , and on any subject they are strangers to the truth, but that is so far from any sought of realistic value, it does not come in as even 1/2 price.

¿Que?
Is that the article in the MOS that says Wenger is ready to offer £16m for James McCarthy with him being pinpointed as a player who is ready-made for their team? He's worth at least twice that sum.
I wouldn't worry too much mate, another rag has them ready to bid £8m for Tyrone Mings.
Looks like desperate times at the Emirates.

{Ed025's Note - i would tell all potential buyers that he is for sale and the price is £50m...so put up or shut up..

Ed025: While I accept that every player is available for transfer at the right price and at the right time, I certainly wouldn't encourage so much speculation by telling any other club that any particular player is available and at what price. By all means, let another other club enquire - but in the proper manner between the clubs and not via the media - and let that club propose a fee should it get to that stage, but the idea that we should quote a fee in advance is just wrong imho. Then there's the message that letting our best players go - or just being open to letting them go - shows us (rightly or wrongly) as a selling club who have no ambition to challenge the top clubs for trophies.
Besides, it's only a media "story" at the moment and who knows what Everton have actually said to other clubs (and, importantly, players' agents and the media) about McCarthy's situation or, come to that, Barkley, Coleman, etc., or any of the other supposed transfer targets for other clubs.
As RM has repeatedly stated, Everton now don't need to transfer players out for financial reasons and any player who does leave will do so for football reasons - which I take to also mean reluctantly letting a player go because it's a massive fee and then using those incoming funds to improve the squad overall.
Bottom line for me: the media need a story - whether it's truthful or not - and we just need to hold our nerve and let RM continue taking our club forward.

{Ed025's Note - my point was sid that by quoting a ridiculous price they would get the message that he is not for sale thats all mate..

Ed025: fair enough, mate, but I would just say 'no' and not even quote a transfer fee, especially as that would be leaked to the media and be recycled as a "story" over and over again.

{Ed025's Note - fair point sid..
