Hi Ed paper talk again Mark Hughes next manager what do you think or are there more rumours to come.

{Ed002's Note - It will be speculation and nothing more. Once the board has the opportunity to sit down and make a decision on the way forward, they will be looking at options under advice of a third party - if they decide to part way with Martinez. If they decide to consider Hughes it may not be a bad choice for the reasons I gave earlier.}

Agree0 Disagree1

But would he be a choice if city boss and Ajax boss was willing to join us, personal I just don't see this as a step forward, more a side ways one.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

28 Apr 2016 12:03:50
Ed, apologies if you ve answered this before. but your a man more in the know than most - do you know if the board are considering keeping Roberto?

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that the board has not met at this time to address the matter. Individually they will have their own views and no doubt the board will want to talk to other interested parties and sit down at some point. The plan would be to sit down at the end of the season and consider the bigger picture and the overall way forward - including addressing the staffing issues. That will allow them to take advice over who will be suitable candidates. Seemingly some of the fans wish to be far more disruptive and intend to attempt to embarrass the club to such an extent to force a knee-jerk reaction.}

Maybe if the board came out and said there would be discussions at the end of the season such as Watford have, then the fans wouldn't feel the need to 'embarrass the club'. If the fans feel they are not being heard or informed then they will protest. Communication or lack of it from efc contributes to discontent.

Ed02

I think the more patient of us can wait for the last match before we lose our tethers completetely by which time the best players will be planning their next clubs and Martinez will be a planning a 'shop window' campaign e. g. 'goals on on sunday' et al.

So 'kee -jerk reactions' etc. are not required by most of us, however we just hope the damage done won't be too difficult to put right mate .

28 Apr 2016 13:31:57
Nice on ed. I guess I am in the camp but wants Roberto gone But ed 25 made a good point. let's not degrade ourselves as 1) if Roberto remains then very awkward2) our behaviour could deter prospective mgrs.

28 Apr 2016 14:26:39
I'm not for tennis balls on the pitch etc but this is also hard to claim as a knee jerk response. The guy is in an untenable position. He speaks of expectations on one hand and then references the glory of a half of football which we drew 1-1 as the future and the way forward.
The club should say something before Saturday to avoid what will be toxic and embarrassing in equal measures. If they say a review will take place at the end of the season then everyone will just calm down a bit. If they say nothing then I think a lot of fans will try to express their opinions on Saturday and it will be embarrassing and ultimately leave the club with no option. At least if they want the option of keeping him on they need to protect him a little bit.

{Ed002's Note - The club has no obligation to say anything to the fans at this time. Perhaps they should simply soak up the threats and look for better fans over the summer? Perhaps you could be like your chums down the road at Liverpool and daub abuse on the stadium about the manager? Perhaps get around to Mr Kenwright's London apartment and get in his face and threaten him in person - his health is not 100% and maybe that will have the desired effect with only three or four games to go? Have you considered a small fire.

How about throwing bricks at the team bus as it arrives at the ground - that was popular in the 1970s with some groups of fans. Oops, sorry, I forgot, they were looking to intimidate the opposition whilst supporting their own team - how times have changed.}

28 Apr 2016 14:39:21
Ed, thanks for your info. I've seen in a few of your posts that you mention that the board will take advice from a third party. What sort of person would this third party be and what advice do they provide?

{Ed002's Note - Someone, or possibly more than one person, who has much better and much broader footballing knowledge than the board. If you take managers, for example, and someone wanted to know more about Bielsa, then they will look for information from someone who knows him or has experiemce of working with him - who will no doubt say he is barking mad and does not speak English. If you are looking to revamp the scouting team, then it makes sense to look for someone who can advise on who might be good to head up and build a new scouting network. Things like that.}

28 Apr 2016 15:02:41
You are correct Ed the club is under no obligation to say or do anything, it would be nice and in my opinion helpful if they did but no they don't have to.
I'm not sure I fully understand your response, I'm looking at ways to try and make Saturday less of a minefield than it threatens to be. If you actually read my post I will be greatly embarrassed by the thought of tennis balls etc
I am not a fan of his but I am a fan of the club so I don't see what is to gain from matchday negativity especially in the age of social media where it is quite easy for the club to gauge supporter opinions.
So I would suggest you also need to stop making knee jerk reactions with your responses to people as quite frankly what you responded to my post with is utterly ridiculous in the context of what I wrote.

{Ed002's Note - The whole thing is becoming embarrassing Svenny - particularly given where we are in the season. Your post is simply there to aggitate further.}

28 Apr 2016 15:15:08
Fair enough but I'm trying to say the same as you. I know us Evertonians and Kenwright should too. A simple we hear your concerns a full review will happen in the summer will for now just stop what will be a very embarrassing and potentially damaging 2-3 weeks.
They don't have an obligation to do anything, this is just fact, however the silence is irritating a lot of fans as much as their discontent is irritating you!

{Ed002's Note - I have told you they will sit down at the end of the season. They will obviously not be at all happy with these threats from teh fans and I imagine going forward the fans will be dealt with more at arms length by the club.}

28 Apr 2016 15:33:39
Thanks for the feedback Ed. Very interesting.

28 Apr 2016 16:33:04
I can sees at Svenny is saying, communication does go a long way and it's nice to read from Ed's that they will sit down at the end of the season however the club saying nothing leaves fans to make up their own minds and for some this leads to some crazy behaviour!
Personally I have found this season hard to swallow so many good players in the squad and they have underachieved. Not saying we should go back to Moyes but at least back then everyone said the team was over achieving!
So are protests the right thing? No I don't think they are everywhere these days there is rules and guidelines so people have a safe work environment and the same should be for the team! Not having to worry of the fans getting on their backs but having the opportunity to play and entertain us fans!
I feel Martinez should go at the end of the season and that is my opinion the fans have lost faith in him and Goodison should be that twelfth man pushing the team on! It is not right now and that is probably part of the reason we are playing better away from home!
Sorry to ramble on but I do feel the fans need to back the team and what is decided at the end of the season we get behind.
Now bring on the abuse! Lol.

28 Apr 2016 16:56:28
Ed. They can't be any more at arms length than they are. I have no doubts they will leave it till the end of season for the reasons you have stated but a decision wouldn't have been a knee jerk reaction. It is one that is painfully needed to move the club forward. It's been coming for months.

{Ed002's Note - Right, but the club should not need to kowtow to the supporters.}

28 Apr 2016 17:15:47
It's not a case of kow towing . It's more a case of communication. In every successful business the most important aspect is the communication with the customer. I have a customer i'd for my season ticket. I am a supporter. I am not priveliged enough to sit on the board of directors neither can afford shares to be a shareholder but I would like more communication about an issue that is clearly a huge issue for the majority of everton supporters. As I said previously common sense would have been to issue a statement at the beginning of the week to say a review will happen as it probably does every year at the end of the season. I know they don't need to but to me that's not the issue. All rumour would have largely gone away this week. Has he / is he going etc etc. Instead we get silence and fans left to make theirown minds up ( misguided or not) . In my opinion it's poor from efc and they have missed a trick.

{Ed002's Note - It is the end of the season and the board will want to plan and manage what happens. Quite frankly the fans are being shameful so close to the end of the season and that will certainly harm the club as time moves on - and that is the very clear target these fans have - to do as much damage to that club as is possible.}

28 Apr 2016 17:23:19
Understand all that but people just want communication. Lack of it causes frustration. And hey presto.

{Ed002's Note - Boards and owners of most clubs do not typically communicate with fans to any great extent - you don't oftean hear from Mr Abramovic, or the City Group, the Glazers, the Arsenal board etc. do you? When they are being treated badly by the fans (you can read hundreds of attacks on Mr Kenwight alone on these pages) you cannot see them feeling obliged to make too much effort, particularly so close to the end of the season. There is a natural course of events that will soon be in hand - but I appreciate the Everton fans ave made a concious decision not to wait and to be disruptive at the forthcoming game - and this will cause embarrassment and as much damage to the club as they can muster. A sad indictment on the modern day game in England.}

28 Apr 2016 17:42:34
All of which could have been avoided.

28 Apr 2016 20:57:55
Ed2 have to say mate. despite my desire for Roberto to go. I agree with you and ed25 totally after reading your rationale. go the game this weekend, cheer the boys on. don't make it worse than it already is. let's not forget . our season hurts the heart strings bur it also hurts the boards pockets so they will do what they believe is right thing. like I or lump it. Instead let's cheer for the boys and the families of the 96.

{Ed002's Note - Right on JCL.}

28 Apr 2016 21:53:18
A point well made Jcl.
