Apparently Chelsea have WARNED Everton they will not be held to ransom and are not prepared to pay £65 million for Lukaku and will look elsewhere if we are not prepared to negotiate. I'm sure Lukaku will be off this summer but it should be on our terms and if that is the price Everton feel he is worth in today's market then I would say we hold all the cards hope the board hold their nerve over this one.

Agree4 Disagree0

He's under contract we have nothing to loose. It's like the felani situation. They will panic spend as the window ticks along.

They made a profit on a player they wanted to leave when we bought him so we surely can set a price on the same player who we want to keep.

What arrogance if true.

{Ed091's Note - £65 million will never come in for Lukaku

25 May 2016 07:08:15
I reckon he will go for 48 million Ed/ Blues, to be honest that's a good price as hardly worth 65 million, then again he has 3 years left so we could just tell him to stfu and sell him next year.

25 May 2016 07:39:53
Mourinho never sold to a team in the same league, we should do the same, send him abroad!

25 May 2016 08:04:47
Mourinho sold him to us? We in a different league?

25 May 2016 08:34:23
If Sterling is worth £90m the Lukaku is definitely worth £65m. Stupid amounts but that is the going rate. So they either pay what we want or we do what WBA did with Berahino and play him when it suits us. Good talent but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is - maybe daddy would enjoy watching him in the U.21's.

It's a difficult situation regarding Lukaku. Everton I assume don't want to sell and have him under contract, as others have said the club have the say.

Lukaku says he wants to leave, that to me is a verbal transfer request and should be treated in the same way as a written request. That would bring more integrity to players dealings.
If the club stand firm and say he is for sale at our price only and no one is prepared to pay it, then he stays next season.

Will the club get the best out of a player who wants to leave, or will he sulk and put performances in like the last few months gone.

Personally the club should wait to see if any other club than Chelsea make an offer.

25 May 2016 09:16:30
Thought Sterling was 50 million.

25 May 2016 09:35:26
Well he won't be going to Chelsea then, thing is if he stamps his feet and says I want to go to Chelsea, if they've put in a substantially lower offer in then just say well it's either another team or you're staying here for another 3 years and see what he does, he'll be off to PSG before you know it. It's not like we don't have any say! .

25 May 2016 13:35:15
Also Sterling is English so that inflated his price.

I would be surprised if we got 65 million for Lukaku. Think he'll go for between 45 and 50 million.

25 May 2016 14:07:04
Rom is not English. But he is home grown player.

25 May 2016 14:14:24
Let him whinge. the board should tell him, his agent and his father, that unless we get 65 mill, or he buys his contract out, then he will be playing for efc next season. if they still whinge, then tell him that rhino is his new manager and to score as many goals for the u21s as he can.

25 May 2016 14:30:02
But we are prepared to negotiate start at 80 million and we'll negotiate to 65.

25 May 2016 13:57:49
I might be wrong but i thought rom qualified as a home grown player. If that's the case that will boost his price tag some.

25 May 2016 14:57:32
if it were my say then he won't be going anywhere for 12 months, even if he barely kicks a ball in that time we won't lose too much on our investment

(we need to remember that's what he and stones are, investments)

we sell he to Chelsea or another premier league club in the summer and he'll come back to hurt us but wait a year and get some stability in the team and hopefully climb the table then we sell when we can attract his replacement.

25 May 2016 06:36:55
ed091 irrelevant speculating then isn't it, particularly if we are adamant that is what Lukaku is worth to us. 3 years left on his contract, he and his Dad should keep their gobs shut.
