From the Everton official, club website:
"The Premier League has published its annual list of players approaching the end of their contracts.
This list includes 10 Everton players with contracts due to expire this month who have not been offered new terms.
Senior first team players Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert are included on the list.
Players on the Premier League released list will remain under contract until 30 June.
Osman and Hibbert have been with the Club since the 1990s, having made their way through the Academy system to become first team regulars. Both have been handed testimonials for their extended service in recent years.
Pienaar first joined the Blues on loan in 2007 before making the deal permanent. He rejoined in 2012 after a short spell at Spurs - again initially on loan.
The other Everton players listed are: Felipe Mattioni and youth players Jordan Thorniley, James Graham, Jindrik Stanek.
Second year academy scholars Jamie Mellen, Spencer Myers and Ciaran O'Loughlin will be departing the club this summer. ".

Son basically Sid how many spaces have we free of our 25 squad. Assuming all contracted players remain.

10 Jun 2016 18:14:39
I've red that we've released 6.

NBTB; We have retained 25 contracted players aged over 21.
That's the maximum allowed for the registered aged-over-21 squad.
The 25 comprises 14 non-homegrown players (the maximum permitted is 17) and 13 homegrown, so we're currently OK in that regard.
So, as it stands, there are no spaces at present for any incoming aged-over-21 players. Therefore, some of the current squad will have to move out - either permanently or on loan - to free up squad places.
We have also retained 35 contracted players aged under 21 of whom 7 have been offered terms (but have yet to confirm acceptance) and 1 (Sambou) who we've just signed from Coventry City.
In addition to those 60 contracted players, we have 12 scholars (that's basically U18 academy players) , but I'd expect that number to increase when we take in a new batch of school-leavers as first-year scholars.

Always find your posts interesting sid. Can I ask, is your knowledge related to work or is it just something you are interested in?

My bad: I made a typo - the 25 comprises 11 non-homegrown and 14 homegrown players - sorry about that :-)

cropper16: It's nothing to do with my work. I'm just passing on information that I hope makes the other fans/ posters better informed and more appreciative of some of the constraints the club has to work under.

I do appreciate those constraints and I also appreciate you putting that up Sid, thank you. One small question, home grown is UK and Ireland players? Not 100% sure of the exact term for home grown. Think Ireland are included.

{Ed002's Note - No, home grown is eith (a) a player from anywhere in the world that spent three years registered ofr and playing for clubs in England or Wales, or (b) weed you have grown yourself from seed.}

11 Jun 2016 12:21:25
Ed002: Just to be clear, surely the three years registered with an English/ Welsh club to qualify as homegrown have to be before the player reaches 21? Older players coming in can't qualify as homegrown just because they've spent three years or more at an Englis/ Welsh club.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Sid. You are correct.}
