Disappointed we didn't get targets today, but let's get realistic - it's been a good window and we're definitely stronger now than end of last season. Both on and off the pitch.

Sissoko always seemed like a 3rd or 4th choice. And surely you can't blame him for choosing champions league football. Some of the anger towards him is pathetic, he owes us nothing and owes us no loyalty. If our top transfer target became available today we would have ditched him and moved onto someone else.

And anyone thought that we didn't close the deals because they weren't right for the club? Every player has their value, and if we weren't willing to pay over the odds then that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

We're only disappointed because the media circus around deadline day whips fans into a frenzy.

Let's stay positive. 7 points from 9, stronger on and off the pitch. Things are still looking up. COYB.

Good post that ST.

31 Aug 2016 23:11:16
If we had any less than 6 it would be a disaster. You can't judge anything after 3 games.

31 Aug 2016 23:12:50
Spot on ST we are in a better shape now than we have been for a very long time.

31 Aug 2016 23:36:05
Good post st and I'm sure we will get 3 points in our next game RK has us playing as a team all we need now is the news of the new stadium and the feel good factor will be back after today's events.

Bang on Southern_Toffee.

All these absolute belters going on about how we are a laughing stock cause we didn't go an spaff 100m on deadline day.

I would rather keep hold of the money and spend it when we know or have a clear inclination that the player will suit the club and take us to the next level.

We have had a solid window. Stekky has started very well, and he is better than what we had last season.

Williams is a leader, rarely misses games, voice on the pitch and makes us much more solid.

Gueye works his bollocks off and is a steal at 7 million when you look at the likes of Ryan Mason going to Hull for 13 million.

Bolasie gives us something different and makes us a threat on the counter, just like Koeman wants us to play.

Every Newcastle fan i know couldn't wait to see the back of Sissoko, saying he never turned up, only when it suited. Do we really want a player like that, or do we want someone who will play for the shirt and the fans.

Seriously with some fans you can never win, we have made 4 solid signings and then by all accounts another young gem.

Valencia might not be the striker we were looking for, but he is certainly a better option than Niasse or Kone. Pace to burn and can find the net, given the service.

Great start to the season and i think we have a solid side. We have only just come into money, as soon as our league position improves from bottom half of the table, players will be more attracted to us.

Rome wasnt built in a day.

COYBB!

31 Aug 2016 23:46:46
And when you look at the team Koeman is already having an effect and getting more from the side! Mirallas looks a different player!

31 Aug 2016 23:54:55
We have drawn 1-1 with Spurs - decent. Scraped wins against an out of sorts Stoke and poor West Brom. And smashed the mighty Yeovil I am over the moon.

01 Sep 2016 00:44:33
Even though I like our new signings and your post. I cannot help to be cynical. It's seem to me that we have to sell to buy. Also think that the Sissoko deal was smoke screen for us to believed we were in for a big player. When we only getting a loan deal. I just hope that th ground at the dock get the go ahead.

01 Sep 2016 00:49:06
I think we should be due some commission from Newcastle for getting Spurs to stump up £30m!

01 Sep 2016 01:47:33
If anyone thinks we have come out of this window well they are deluding themselves.

01 Sep 2016 03:09:04
Are you kidding? We have come out well.
We have an awesome manager who can change a game and is already improving the players
A DOF to start pushing the club forward
A premier league hardened CB probably one of the best out there
A bargain Midfielder in Gueye who has already been immense this season
A Bolassie who will torment defences all season
We kept Lukaku
And we have some exciting talents in the fringes of the first team!
We have a major shareholder who is wanting to fund new players and a new stadium
Still have a chairman who loves the club, and is at heart an Everton fan
And we haven't forked out on any panic buys!
This was always going to be a tough window and I feel we has come out stronger and stable.

01 Sep 2016 06:35:15
And we got almost £50m for Stones! (Who wanted to go)

01 Sep 2016 07:32:14
Agree with all the above ST and I'm sure once the disappointment fades (as usual) we will all crack on with it
BUT
Despite a billionaire investor
Despite the highest TV money ever

We have hardly spent a penny. Don't care what you say but THAT is unacceptable.

I get some of it is sound bites from ITK's etc. But Moshiri himself said was anxious to add to squad ( after Bolasie) .

For once we seemed to have money to spend. And yet again it didn't happen.

So crack on with your optimism but I and many more saw this as a real chance to improve and to push ourselves towards top 6. Don't see that happening now, least not this season.

Hopefully by January SW has unearthed a few gems.
Hopefully in near future we will hear about plans for stadium.

But being an Evertonians is like being a crap boxer who keeps having to get up off the canvas.

Well said southern toffee agree with everything u said this summer had been a summer of change for Everton and a change for the better we have a world class manager a new director of football who arrived late in summer and a owner who has big ambitions for are club with stadium and returning are glory days so the deadline day didn't turn out as we hoped but the work in the transfer market before deadline day has made r squad stronger steklenberg has been class in goal adrissa looks the buy of the season Williams is a vocal leader we have been needing for ages and s one of the best defenders in the league and bolasie gives us another dimension going forward with his pace and power and hopefully enner Valencia can repeat his form from his first season at the hammers where he was excellent what ever happens he still better than kone and niasse know we have some serious pace in the attacking and going to be a big threat on the counter attack in away games. Don't forget this gives Walsh some proper time to addentify his targets for January and summer windows and have deals already set up.

{Ed025's Note - well said duke..

01 Sep 2016 07:52:33
I'm OK with not spending £30 million on Sissoko. Looked good in Euros, poor in the prem. Just hope big Ash kicks him all over the place in the new year. What does annoy me is how we were allowed to be strong along by Napoli and Porto.

01 Sep 2016 08:08:47
I like the way everyone trying to be happy but let's get it right this was a shocking transfer window considering we were meant for a busy summer an top signing, we only strengthend with gueye, bolasie has 2 good game go missing for 6/ 7 game for 30mil we over payed, sketelburg is as good as Howard make some good save but always makes a mistake, we have no back up striker if lukaku get injured no back up right bk no top class keeper an with jag or William get injured were bk to square 1, the only good thing about this window is we got a top top manager in Koeman, Koeman has to be gutted.

01 Sep 2016 09:05:06
No evidence anything has changed. We had to sell to buy and didn't spend any more than we got in. I want to believe it'll be different but don't see any evidence that it is. That's why I'm confused as to why so many fans have blind faith that money will be available and we will have an impact in the transfer market.

01 Sep 2016 09:33:28
ROBBO05 who did we sell to pay for Sissoko i'm pretty sure we would have actually paid for him but he decided to go elsewhere you statement is flawed.

01 Sep 2016 09:39:03
Rob I believe there is money there just don't know how much could be 100mil could not be who knows Everton certainly never came out with how much we have to spend plus rob did u expect us to go do a spurs from a few years ago when they sold bale and go buy for sake of buying which didn't turn out to well for them I know there's a lot of frustration but we need to be patient and let Walsh do his job in the upcoming transfer windows and line up some transfers.

01 Sep 2016 10:01:41
spot on duke. It appears most people who are upset are upset because we didn't spend every penny available to us - regardless of who we spent it on.

I for one would prefer to keep the money to spend on the right players in January or next summer, rather than spend it for the sake of it.

Also - after the Emirates move we saw Arsenal spend drop. We've seen something similar this season with Spurs, Chelsea and to an extent Liverpool (all with new stadiums/ stands to fund) . It could be that money is being put aside for a stadium. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.

And if that is the case then I would prefer a Bramley Moore Stadium over Moussa Sissoko any day of the week.

01 Sep 2016 10:33:21
Am up set that the team wasn't strengthend an that we didn't get good player to cover area what are needed.

01 Sep 2016 12:30:54
But we have a good team already! I am glad we didn't blow £100m just because we have it!
Koeman said there is time needed to build and money doesn't make you an overnight success. Valencia on loan makes sense to me, little outlay for a decent backup who if needs be we cut next summer when we are in a better position!
I am sure Moshiri will have learnt from this as well and feel our pain and Walsh hasn't had much time to work yet so let's get behind the team and be positive!

01 Sep 2016 12:47:52
Be interesting to know if we had drawn or lost all our games this season fans would be so understanding about not bringing in quality players. It's a marathon not a sprint. I just hope we don't get injuries to our top players and lukaku pulls his finger out.
