27 mill rejected by Swansea for Gilfi I say move on now they want 40 surely you can get better if your going to pay 40 mill for a player.

Agree9 Disagree11

Like who? he's proven in the premiership and is involved in goals all the time and is just reaching his peak who would u want instead, I think 40 is fair in today's market myself.

25 Jun 2017 10:59:02
Good player but is he worth 40 million, but we are asking 50 million for Barkaley, I think we shouldn't worry about the money, at the end of the day if he's going to make us better then we need to get him and maybe look elsewhere for players in other areas for less money, if lukaku goes we are going to have to fill the void and he will add goals and assist others, money should be no option.

25 Jun 2017 11:17:03
I agree with you Steff, £40m seems to high and I agree there is likely to be better than him for that price. I'm sure they'll agree at something like £35, which I'd have to say is fair enough. He will add goals and assists. As long as we can still spend big on a decent striker as well as Sandro!

25 Jun 2017 11:23:04
That's not my job who that's why we pay scouts the money to look for players. Little example Liverpool got Coutinio for 9.mill Brosivic of inter very good player for half the price perisic quality player as well if you shop around you will find players I'm not saying Gilfi is s bad player I just don't think he is worth 40 mill and if it was up to me 27 mill would be our final offer.

25 Jun 2017 11:36:01
Agree johny, if Ross is worth 50 then 40 for this guy is a snip. Imagine what are midfield would look like with him on board. No brainier for me mate.

25 Jun 2017 12:24:26
don't really care how much he costs it's not our money although it's all about negotiation they will sell between 30-35.

25 Jun 2017 12:55:12
If we get him for the same money as we get for Ross then it has to be a no brainer, think of it this way if his goals and assists get us into the CL then it would be money well spent. If they get us into the CL 2 seasons in a row then his cost is irrelevant.

25 Jun 2017 13:04:42
He's the one player linked to us I would love this summer. He's a top player and a proven match winner, he'd help bridge that gap to the top 6. If we could buy him and get the same for Ross then I'd be ecstatic.

25 Jun 2017 13:05:07
I honestly don't understand why some people are so hung up on money? £30 million, £40 million - what's the difference? Yes I know, £10 million, but what difference does it make to us supporters? Unless the coin is coming out of your personal back accounts, then I don't see why people get so personal about it. And who actually is come out from the club and said that Everton want £50 million for Ross Barkley?

Sigurdsson is absolute quality, make no mistake. He will improve our midfield by 30% so it matters not what he costs imo.

25 Jun 2017 12:20:13
If Gilfi is worth 40 mill then Ross cannot be worth more than 20 mill as he Gilfi is twice the player Ross is, no wonder we cannot sell him.

25 Jun 2017 13:47:26
One vital fact Barkley is 23 and Sig is 27. If your comparing players this has be a big factor. I'll admit at the moment Sig would probably make the team before Barkley.

He is a quality player and would improve us. We shouldn't be hung up on money but I can't help myself. Don't like to see the club I support squandering money simply because its not a bottomless pit of money the club have. I like to see it well run just as much as doing well on the pitch.

Sig is quality, £40m seems a bit much as he is medium term not long term. Barkley is very much long term. Saying that I will obviously support him if he comes and be delighted despite whatever he costs.

25 Jun 2017 13:53:47
You can get Brahimi for £35 Mil and that is better spent in my opinion.

25 Jun 2017 14:18:01
As long as Brahimi doesn't flop in the prem with the pace of the league! If I was spending £35m of my own money I have tucked in the mattress and a choice between Brahimi and Sig I would go Sig as he is established in the league.

25 Jun 2017 14:33:19
Agree with the posts about not bothered what we spend.
The yardstick come season start is "Do we have a better squad than this time last year"
Who pays and how much is only relevant if we are "mortgaging" the club via bank loans and dubious investment like has happened in the past. Moshiri does not appear to be doing this.
Pickford and Klaasen are good investments. Losing Lukaku's goals is a worry (not losing the personality) . Barkley is resigned to going, so we move on. Sigurdsson is proven at this level, we still need defensive additions and different strike options.
The kids will help but the squad size, because of Europe, needs to be a lot bigger, and with more quality, than last year.
I believe Koeman and Walsh are going about it the correct way and have the backing of the board and the owner.

25 Jun 2017 15:51:54
Money side of football has gone insane got to look past price tags really nowadays doesn't matter how much a player costs, its monopoly money. I just want the best player for my beloved blues and sig is top quality, always in the game, creative and generally injury free, sign him up . coyb.

25 Jun 2017 16:06:54
Not to mention he has a knack of scoring against the big teams, something Rom and Ross struggle with.

25 Jun 2017 18:22:03
Look at last summers biggest outlay Yannick Bolasie and what he cost, transfer fees are irrelevant nowadays as the T. V revenue has made pricing players ridiculous. For me Sigurdssons goals and assists record last season in a side that was fighting relegation sets his fee by how important he is to Swansea, same as the ridiculous amount we are asking for Rom due to his contribution to ourselves, think of it more as a compensation fee for loss rather than a transfer fee. If Swansea lose Sig and then their Premier league status due to being weakened, 40 million is their compo for this.

25 Jun 2017 18:46:54
Akram afif only 20 on loan at sporting gjorn in Spain from villareal could land him for about 20 this kid has bags of talent and his movement of the ball is first class.

25 Jun 2017 23:01:27
Latest update is Swansea have contacted Everton and asked to up their bid to £30 million, not £40, if that is true get him snatched up as soon as possible.

25 Jun 2017 23:26:26
Wales online reporting there's been no bid yet.

26 Jun 2017 15:58:33
If we flop next season because we don't pay the going rate we will all be up in arms, top teams pay top dollar, that's why they are at the top, yes we all no sometimes it back fires and there's a fine line between having old and new players in, but when lukaku leaves we need to have enough in the squad to cope if one striker is having and off day, keep the bank roll going and let's have a good crack, I'm sure you will all be moaning if we are bottom half of the table because we can't score goals.
