O'Neil, I have on good authority either Tomorrow or Tuesday. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Eds tell us all it's not true!?

{Ed002's Note - Right now it seems not the 100% right decision but there has at least been a discussion so I would not rule it out. Someone suggested yesterday it might be for the rest of the season and then he could replace Steve Walsh as Director of Football. I rather doubt that is the plan but weirdly it would make a good amount of sense. I know have bleated a lot about the appointment of SW as DoF, but I see this to be a whole chunk of the problem. Moshiri and Kenwright need to focus on finding a real footballing guy as DoF and let SW run the scouting - which is his forte. If you look at the guy Arsenal are looking to bring in and the guy Chelsea are looking to try to bring in to that role, they are out and out high-end footballing people known throughout the footballing world with great contacts, great knowledge and great skill sets. Everton has a scout in the roll, and Liverpool are no better.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Thank you Ed. It seems the club is struggling (understatement) to find direction and unwilling to take advice from the right people. Serious lack of 'a plan' and I like many others totally get the point of the DoF. Got to say while I don't see O'Neill as the answer I've no idea who is!?

{Ed002's Note - He is a strong character and that will help if he signs up.}

Everyone moaning about Pulis, Allardyce, O'Neill need to realise that we aren't going to be able to attract a high end manager with the state the club is now.

At least one of the three above won't take any bollocks an will have the players (like they have with all their teams) giving 110% effort, running their bollocks off for the club and the fans.

Can it get any worse than what we are watching now. Simple answer is no, it cant.

Agreed. Simply need a Manager with some serious strength as we're in an absolute state. Got to stay up and start again. In the end we still have Moyes' back four and he left when.?

After watching today's game, which was the worst performance I've ever seen (no exaggeration) , I would welcome Martin O'Neil with open arms. As ed says he's a strong character and that's exactly what we need because there isn't another strong character in the whole of the club at the minute. It's not ideal, and if someone would have told me in the summer we'd be looking at the likes of Allerdyce and O'Neil in November I wouldn't have believed them in a million years. But it is what it is and we need some stability and tactics brought back into the team.

@Ed002: cheers for elaborating, bloody good insight. Can I confirm if I'm right then that the role then best for Steve Walsh in your ideal capacity would be a manager, in such for the scouting network, organising their movements and enforcing the vision, to compare this to industries more of the boys reading could relate?

{Ed002's Note - Yes Dan - he should be running the whole scouting network and nothing else.}

As usual Ed speaks a lot of sense and to do so equally must have contacts within or understands the business. If he can give out advice or opinions on this open forum you have to wonder if Clubs such as Everton and their hierarchy do read or have people (PR) reading such as these HYS. If so isn't it absolutely mind boggling why such as Everton seem to cock up everything they touch. I am not laying this comment at individuals (how could I) but the setup as a whole just seems to be wrong and confused.

Everyone saying that Allardyce wouldn't take any buttocks: didn't he say after his one and only game as England manager that it wasn't his place to tell Rooney where he should play? We need the dog wagging the tail ASAP, not the other way round.
