Managers available are few and far between:

Mourinho people often band about but I don’t think anything would really change, better defending perhaps Allegri was touted but that was likely to drum up interest in him for elsewhere.

Ten Hag at Ajax is one I can’t see happening despite the press articles stating he could be interested. If it somehow did happen then I think the youth might have a better route to the first team.

The one there is Benitez, December the 1st is when the Chinese league ends, could he be enticed to Goodison? Would he fit in with the structure with Brands as DoF?
I do feel for Silva with the injuries but then he can’t seem to decide how or who to play or get the best out of what he has plus Gueye is a big miss in the middle!
November will be a tough month and will Silva find Black Friday comes early and he gets the boot,

Gueye is a huge miss but we were lucky to keep him for the 2nd half of last season so it was inevitable he would leave. Nobody can be blamed for that.
Gbamin is going to be a big difference maker in our midfield. His first game (s) he looked exceptional. But these injuries are just our luck. Get him fit and firing and i think our defensive woes will be behind us.

The latter for me, proven winner with great premium experience, wants to come ( apparently ) , no brainer IMO.

I still don’t get the obsession with Benitez and why people think he’ll be good?
It was over 9 years ago he was good with Liverpool.
He didn’t do much at Chelsea when interim boss.
He was relegated with Newcastle but then managed to get them promoted but didn’t then do much.
He’s gone to China for a big payday and not doing much there either.
He has clearly said he won’t work with a director of football so why would he work with brands?
I’d rather keep Brands who seems to be making positive changes at that level than lose him to appoint a manager not willing to work in the set-up.
Again not sure why people think Benitez will be our saviour and I haven’t even mentioned his little club jibe?

{Ed002's Note - Benitez won the Europa League in his six moth stint at Chelsea.}

Fair point Ed. I should have said league wise. Don’t think his winning the europa league is much good to us as a team when the closest we’ve been to European football recently is Swansea or Cardiff city away!

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea were 3rd in the league that season and also reached the semi finals of both cup competitions.}

Ed002 do you think Benitez improvde what was good Chelsea squad or do you think his tenure coincided with the common change in form when a new manager comes into a club. Would you have kept him on as the manager?

{Ed002's Note - He was only employed on a temporary basis and was never going to stay beyond the 6 months. There wasn't an upturn as Chelsea had been top of the league for most of the time before he arrived.}

Quite a good win percentage as well at over 58% better than at Liverpool where it was around 55% from stats I read.
Even at Newcastle with no real investment he managed nearly 43% and that’s better than what Silva has achieved with our team! 😱.

GD, I think he did a good job at Newcastle to be fair to him. Especially when you consider that he had Ashley as his chairman, most of his tenure was spent battling him for transfer funds etc.
We need someone who can sort out the defence and stop leaking goals from set pieces or just sloppy play but also someone who has a bit of nous when it comes to attacking teams. Haven't a clue who that could be though!

I’m not saying Benitez is the answer was more a post about potential candidates out there.
