Barkley and Gibson were not up to it against Valencia. Barkley showed glimpses of his talent but also immaturity. Gibson was non-existant for the majority of the game. Stones and Naismith have been pleasent suprises throughout pre-season.

To say that Barkley showed immaturity is just ridiculous. I mean he's 19 what do you expect you sound just like you have been brainwashed by Moyes.

Pretty sure gibson didn't come on till late on, pretty hard to have an impact from the bench, he is class in my opinion.

You seem to contradict yourself. You say that the notion of Barkley showing signs of immaturity is "ridiculous", yet you also say "what do you expect, he's 19" You seem to be one of theese fans who refuses to digest any ctricism for certain players. A lot of fans seem to reject any critism for Barkley and Gibson in particular. I like Barkley, he's a great talent and a great prospect but you cannot reject negative comments regarding Barkley's performence in the Valencia game. I still think he's at the bottom of the pecking order and should be brought into first team football slowly for the time being. I have saw first 11 team sheets on here written by fans and a lot seem to include Barkley and Gibson. Gibson is injury prone and barkley is not ready yet. To me they are sqaud players for those reasons. Barkley should take a step up this season, but his progress must not be rushed and I stand by how Moyes dealt with the progress of Barkley.

I know it is only pre-season, that's why I said against Valencia. i'm not saying that they are sh** but just merely making an observation on that particular game.

How can Gibson be injury prone! Other than jags distin and felli he played the most mins per season as for Barkley I'm assuming you would still have p. neville in middle if could, Barkley is great prospect but can only get better with minutes on pitch IMO from what I've seen pre season he is level if not ahead of Osman come Norwich game and how do you feel motes dealt with vellios, McAleny, junior, ruddy, pretty fair treatment of them I suppose, out with the old in with the new come on bobby!
