Can I ask a serious question without getting slated (too much). What does Ross Barkley actually do? I mean I get he's a young confident CAM, which fair play is a rare trait. And I suppose he is technically gifted to some extent. But if we had another player in that position, would we be in a lower spot in the league? I doubt it tbh. So what do we gain from his input?

He runs forward, gets tackled, doesn't trackback, someone gives him the ball at the corner flag and he shoots out for a throw in, he doesn't score, he doesn't assist, constantly loses it and dives, he's too confident and probably won't ever improve, i'd rather naismith or eto'o were infront of him

I know what you mean QB, but it all revolves around the lack of English or British talent coming through the last 15 years or so. If you look at the England team, there were no replacements coming through as the old guard of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Cole etc started to age. All these players stayed in the England team for far too long because there was a lack of talent coming through. I am glad to say that suddenly things are looking a little better and with Barkley, Sterling, Berahino, Clyne etc things are looking better. As for Barkley, remember the goals he scored last season? As a kid coming in, they were fantastic. Yes his injury has delayed him getting match fit, but I expect him to rediscover his form soon. RM says he has the potential to be the best ever English player, so he must have something?

QB
i ask myself this all the time, yes he had a great game on his return, but I often think he lacks concetration, falling over the ball, miskicks, diving we can't condone or deny, at 20 or 21 I want to see him dragging the team on, we need to see him have a good run of form and games and goals for me. all that said I still would not sell him untill he outgrows everton or his ego

He presence scares people he is strong fast can make a pass , he can link up play makes tackles holds the ball up, oh and can also hit a decent free kick not bad for a young lad that has had his fair amount of injuries ey, Barkley in another two years is going to be the best midfielder in the prem.

Swan he drives the team forward and creates space for others

What does he do, I see the guys been back 4 games and you question his ability maybe if it weren't the fact that him and Coleman are only two players that actually try to beat a man then he's going to lose it more, we do this slow slow build up let's not get on the back of 50% of our creative play, seriously makes you wonder sometimes

As Roberto says "let him play football and make mistakes",it's all part of learning. No one is perfect

Some people on here really need to give their massive heads a wobble! Do you just post comments/replies so you can get some kind of self importance from seeing your name on the page? Yes this game is about opinions, no doubting that, but come on people! Some of the crap that gets spouted on here is astonishing. We have a genuine talent on our books, homegrown to boot, yet some still want to shoot him down. In the opinion of experts, this lad is going to be one of the best English players to grace the game. Yet you want to slag him off time after time. He's been out most of the season and is just coming back so is bound to be a bit rusty. He needs time. Agree with Mike totally, at least he is not scared to try beating a man. His concentration will improve with age, that is standard in pro football, and his decisions will improve the more experience he gets.

Spud, when the chips are down don't slag us off for opinions that's what we go the match for, yes he is young yes he will make mistakes the OP asked what we think and that is what we think, yes we bounced out of our chairs when he scored against city, and last night albeit offside.
we are mearly saying
