Question about european qualification. I've read a few posts saying we need to get 6th place to get in europe next year but unless I'm mistaken 7th will be enough althoughth it will take Man U winning League cup and one of the top six winning the F. A Cup and we would start our season very early. Would everyone be happy to start the season mid July if it meant european qualification?

{Ed002's Note - That is correct.}

Dont like that europa league, has anyone really taken it seriously? Pl League games are always flat on a sunday. Would rather miss out if am being honest and try and push for top 4 next season . coyb.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, clubs throughout Europe take it very seriously.}

Thought so thanks ed.
Personally if we could bolster the squad I'd be happy to start the season earlier.

Premier league clubs don't though .

{Ed002's Note - Of course they do - Chelsea took it seriously enough to win it. Perhaps it is just the Everton fans who don't take it seriously?}

Am not speaking for every everton fan i just personally think that! . chelsea winning that was nearly 4 years ago don't you think its lost a little something . ?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool got to the final last year, so obviously not.}

You can't tell me the europa league didn't affect there league form they finished 8th.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool did not finish eigth in the league because of the Europa League. They also reached the League Cup final. Chelsea won the Euopa League and got to the FA Cup and League Cup finals and finished third in the league. If you are concerned that Everton are simply not able to sustain playing in Europe they can easily withdraw from the competition by informing UEFA.I am sure whoever is next best placed in the league will be very happy to have European football for their fans. Other recent winners like Atletico Madrid, Porto and Sevilla have maintained a serious interest in the competition whilst continuing to do well at home.}

Its me who thinks the europa league is a distraction and worthless not the board of everton fc.

{Ed002's Note - Then if Everton qualify for Europe you can moan and bleat about it as much as you like.}

Will do, all am saying is we could do without the extra 15 games it takes to win that cup and focus on challening for the top 4 nxt season.

{Ed002's Note - And then do without the 10 games it would take to win the Champions League in order to stay fresh for the season after. An interesting approach.}

I'd be happy with a Europa season. In my opinion, would highten our profile and attract bigger names. Let's be honest. Are we a champions league club right now. No. We need to take things step by step and after 2 11th place finishes, most fans would snap your arm off for a European season of any sorts.

{Ed002's Note - As would the players and the board.}

I live in Cornwall (from the Wirral) and took my son to Lille away by megabus from Bristol. Then we went to watch Young Boys in Switzerland by Easyjet. The 1st game cost me about £100. I enjoyed it so much (the comeraderie not the game) I paid £500 to go to the Young Boys game. don't tell me Europa League is a waste of time. I enjoyed every second of the experiences! So did my lad. I think we had about 10,000 fans at Lille! It was amazing.

Not to mention winning the Europe league gets you into the champions league. If we have ambition we have to want European football to take the next step.

with the resources we have now I cannot see it being a distraction, complete opposite in fact!
And I feel those not looking forward to European games would be an extremely small minority!
Plus if I understand correctly the winner qualifies for the champions league so that's quite an incentive to win the thing!

Didnt say i don't enjoy european games the format for that cup is rubbish .

{Ed002's Note - Keep hoping that Everton don't qualify and then you will be very happy.}

European football next season would make it a little easier to sign our top targets in the summer that's for sure. And let's be honest most people like to see everton playing in it.

I would quite happily take my seat watching a Europa League qualifier against Romanias 4th best club in July then watch us put a reserve side out in a meaningless friendly against Notts County.

I bet you Mourinho and United go all out to win the Europa due to the fact it gets you Champions League qualifier place and that may be their only route.
We should be thriving for European Football not deriving it.
Lille was a great day out as Degsy said and I drove it and stayed over and took in some sights the next day, I for one want us back in Europe sooner rather than later.

What's the point of wanting to win matches, if you don't want to play in Europe?
I enjoyed my European trips, and wouldn't mind a few more please.

If we want to sign better players then we need to offer them European football. Koeman said as much when he outlined his plans. Plus there's the extra revenues from the games and extra TV rights, Europe is a must for me.

A good completion and European experience, just needs a little tweak and that is not allowing the third worst team in the Champs league group, given a second chance by dropping into the Europa league.
