I'm curious about the thoughts of other Evertonians who watch the other European leagues.
I'm a big fan of Serie A. I love watching Juve and Napoli and the style of football they play. When I'm watching the Italian matches I always end up thinking, who are the Italian equivalent of Everton?

Our lack of titles and trophies obviously excludes Juve, Milan, Roma etc. so who do you think it is? After much thought I've decided on Fiorentina or Torino. Both historic clubs with fanatical support but, a notable absence of trophies. If I had to go for one it would be Torino.

The reason being, it's from a city with 2 big teams and their fans have had to put up with the other team having more success. I hate saying it but it's true, so I feel a type of connection with the Torino fans. What are other fan's thoughts? And what about the other Euro leagues? Who are Spain, Germany, France and Holland's "Everton"?

Interesting question, nail on the head with Torino, as far as la liga goes it's difficult, I'd like to say atletico as they're the working man's club to their neighbours, but they have had some great success in recent times, where we haven't. Espanyol perhaps. As far as France go I'm thinking Marseille, some real successes in their history but have been a sleeping giant for some time.

{Ed002's Note - Atletico are not a good example. Marseille are not a good example either - for the past 10 or 15 years Real Sociedad and Toulouse would be better examples.}

I watch the Bundesliga pretty frequently because of the tv deal they have here in the States. I would say that we are the German equivalent of Hamburg. Neither club has been relegated for over 50 years, both have a strong history, but their golden ages are at least 30 years ago, and neither club have been particularly good in the recent seasons.

{Ed002's Note - I think it is a reasonable comparison.}
