Ok guys, I hear what you are saying about negative posts and here is my response. As an Evertonian for over 50 years I have seen change come and go with many promises of progress and at the same time watch our noisy neighbours do exactly the same. but with a bit more success. However, once in a while we have achieved things and had the odd couple of years where we did win some trophies. All I am saying at the moment is that there seems to be this huge wave of optimism sweeping across our support. The same sort that happened when Martinez took over and again when Koeman took over. I had also experienced it when Walter Smith and Mike Walker took over. Having said all that, this new manager might be the bees knees and he might have what it takes to turn the club around. If I accept that he is a special manager and we are indeed making changes that mean we will progress, all I am saying is that the current squad is not sufficiently balanced nor good enough for him to make the changes in the short term that the optimism warrants. I would guess he would need 3 or 4 seasons to get us anywhere near top 4 never mind winning a trophy. My optimism is there. it is just restrained by a dose of realism. so I do hope we are going in the right direction. I just think it will take a lot longer than most Blues anticipate. And at my age. just like Grumpytoffee who I hope chips in here. we are running out of time to see this success that we all want.

I haven't seen one post mention champions league, top 4 or winning trophies Degsy. Your memory is bloody awful as well.

Every single time with the exception of Fat Sam there has been a wave of optimism. Every single time without fail. That's what's great about our club and fans. That's how we should be.

Plus it has not been doom and gloom like you make out in every post.

Martinez 1st season showed why we wasted 6 or 7 years with Moyes by producing our best ever result in the EPL era. Moyes could dream of creating a team that played that type of football.

Koemans 1st season was spectacular after a bad start. We gained the seconds highest points and scored the second highest goals in the last 6 months of that season in EUROPE with only Barcelona producing more.

Stop hanging on to the negatives and look at what we can achieve.

Your optimism is not there Degsy and never is because you never highlight the positives ever.

You could have said. We have an unbalanced squad BUT we've got some great players like Sig, Cenk, Lookman, Gana, Coleman, Pickford, Theo, Keane, Davies and some wonderful talent to come in like Beni, DCL, Holgate, Hornby, Sammy, etc. If we add some quality we can see the team progress. However, I've never seen you do that. You've gone on about the people we need to replace, imbalance and how Moyes is only manager who has done anything which really isn't true. That's about it.

That's the difference in optimism and negativity. Without a balanced view you do not see the real picture.
