I start of by saying i am not slating the lad at all, but am reading a few articles about 'Everton Legend' Wayne Rooney potentially signing for the american club tonight.
My question is does anyone actually see him as an everton legend. Undoubtedly he's a United and England legend, but an Everton one? Not for me. Other team fans in my local reckons an everton legend title is appropriate to him. What are other peoples thoughts.

In my opinion he's not Kingo simply for the fact he has done very little playing for the club to earn the reputation. He left just as his undoubted talent was blossoming and gave his best years to Manchester United. If he'd stayed with us yes, but he didn't. I'm not having a go because he went, he made the right choice for himself at the time, and I'm glad he came back and I'm thankfull for the goals he scored last season, but you need more than that to be a Legend.

Legend yeah I'd say so. One of our highest profile players ever. Probably our most talented too. he deserves the tag. Too many people get hung up on him leaving us and desperately want to slag him off for it, but let's be honest, we were nowhere near big enough at the time for him to enjoy the success he deserved. Until we become one of the big clubs again we have to accept that star players will always look to move away.

Absolutely no way is he an Everton legend. He’s played for us and will forever be a devoted fan. But he has had zero impact into the shaping of any progression of our club but for the transfer fee digging us out of financial trouble.

Kendall, Harvey, Ball, Dean, Southall, Ratclffe, Steven, Stephens, Sharp (best derby goal ever) , Sheedy and many more have been club Legends that Rooney would not be fit to clean their boots.

Good player for us but a legend for another team.

Rubbish he's an Everton legend. In recent years you could say Cahill, Baines and Coleman all deserve the title before Rooney. As BigH said if was with us all this time then more than likely. But he was starting to blossom and left after 1 or 2 seasons with us then came back for 1 season with no legs and his passing was questionable quite a lot of times. So no way an Everton Legend. That may sound like a dig but it's just honesty. Utd legend probably and England legend maybe depends what qualifies you for that status I mean he didn't win anything with england. Everton legend having a laugh.

Nope. Coleman, Baines, Osman, Hibbert, Jags, Cahill, Dunc and a few others are ahead of him.

It's about what you do at YOUR club. I like the lad but for me he's way down the pecking order. He made his status at United and fair play to the lad.

He loves us and we love him and who knows he could make his legendary status with us as manager one day.

If you say what you did for your club you could argue his sale did a lot for our club at a time when money was tight
But from a pure playing aspect I am not sure the dizzy heights of legend playing for the club has been reached.

Just my opinion.

Depends on your definition of ‘legend’.
Most people in football associate him with Everton as much as Man U. He’s created some memorable moments and clearly loves the club, but he hasn’t achieved enough in the shirt for me. Another season or two and perhaps.

100% legend. 0% an Everton one.

Certainly a legend of English football but a legend for EFC? No chance. As others have said in their comments, Rooney has not done enough in an Everton shirt during his two stints to justify the tag. Definitely a legend for United and England, becoming all time top goal scorer for both is testiment to his standing in the game, but he hasn't done enough in the blue shirt. I will be sorry to see him go, if he does leave for America, as he scored a few goals for us last year in difficult circumstances. Good luck to the lad in whatever he does.

He is no Everton Legend. Merely a player that we have had two stints with.

no chance he's an everton legend.

He’s an Evertonian, not an Everton legend and nor should he be just because he’s a supporter.

No he is no Everton legend, he was a youth prodigy at our club. Left as soon a he made the first team and came back when finished good luck Wayne but your just one of many to have war a blue shirt although you did it with pride
Many good players but few legends exist.
