WorcesterEFC, two words, ALAN BALL.

Worcester EFC I can see your point below but look at Harry Kane. The way he is playing this last couple of years he could probably play for anyone he wanted. He won't leave Hus devote Spurs. Gerrard was another who could of switched to win trophies but decided to stick with his team. Both could of got any amount of medals elsewhere but decided to stay.

I love Wayne Rooney and can understand why he left. Still it was a choice he made. He could of stayed if he wanted to.

I don't think anyone would argue that Rooney is a legend but he achieved it for Man Utd and England so to me he isn't an Everton legend. Will always be proud he is an Evertonian nut he chose to leave.

What nobody seems to be looking at is if Rooney had stayed with us would he of matured into the footballer he became. I am not sure he would of.
When he left he worked for many years under Fergie, who was probably one of the games best ever managers. It is that experience that has given him his legendary status. He would of still done well with Everton but you need to ask yourselves did we have the right management team in place to be able to utilise him to his full extent?

I'm getting a post addressed to me because I said Rooney is a legend? He is! Of course it's obvious he didn't do it with Everton but he's still one of footballs greats. Ask anybody who Evertons greatest players are throughout our history and I bet the vast majority will put Rooney in their list.
I wish he'd achieved things here but there's no denying the talent he had.
As for using Gérard and Kate as examples, Spurs are a big club! Liverpool were a big club during Gerald's time. Both know/ knew that staying with their clubs has/ had the potential for honours. Whereas Everton were in severe trouble, financially disastrous and were more likely to face relegation than a title challenge. It could be said that the money we got for Rooney enabled a squad rebuild that helped us stabilise as a mid table team.
Alan Ball, great player yes, Legend in the eyes of anyone outside Everton, No.

Who has scored more goals in World Cup final games, Wayne Rooney or John Stones?

6.) 26 Jun 2018

See your point Son of Grumpy and added to that he was playing with top players around him too, would he have flourished with Kilbane on the wing and Marcus Bent up top with him? The talent was there and maybe if he stayed we could have attracted a higher calibre of player, it's all in hindsight really.

Spurs a big club? When did they win anything last?

You can anything about Rooney. He's this, he is that and I agree Son of Grumpy he was utilised to the best of his ability at Utd. Still doesn't take away the fact it was his choice to leave.

Now I said I understand why. I don't blame him for leaving. Fair enough his choice was to leave. Probably done the best thing for himself.

NBTB you live in a dream world if you think Spurs aren't a big club. Steadily growing, attracting top players, consistently getting champions league. In polls of who will have a chance at winning premier league this year, Spurs will get a few picks. 9 out of 10 players in a transfer will opt for Spurs ahead of us. I hate that but it's just the way it is at the moment until we make sufficient changes to challenge them. Support for your club is great, but fans who blindly think we're bigger than we are are usually the ones who cause the most discontent when we go through tricky times.

How can you even equate Wayne Rooney and Alan Ball, may be if he had played in same England team as Ball but as man of the match in World Cup final most feared player apart from Bobby Charlton for nearly ten years, and Everton wise part of a legendary midfield and league champions and FA Cup winning team.

Worcester EFC stop putting words in my mouth. I never said we are bigger than we are in any way. I wasn't even talking about how 'big' Everton is.

I was responding to your labelling of Spurs as a 'big' club. Compared to who exactly? They are heading I'm the right direction and have improved. We could learn loads from them.

Not sure if I would class them in the elite clubs just yet. You still haven't answered the question I asked. When was the last time they won something? What have they won in the last 20 years?

Nothing compared to Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea. Even Arsenal or Liverpool. So even though the are making fabulous work in achieving success imho they are not there just yet.

And the main point was probably every club would take Harry Kane if they could. All the clubs that won plenty of trophies in the last year. Including clubs abroad. I'm sure the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona would like to have Kane. Probably known in the grapevine he wouldn't move so they don't bother. He has the ability to play for anyone he wants but chooses to play for Spurs.

How many players would choose Spurs over the other clubs I've mentioned? Not many at all. Kane chooses to stay with them because he wants to. Same thing with Rooney if he really wanted to he could of stayed. People make out he had no choice. We all know he would achieve more at Utd. Doesn't take away the fact that he had a choice to stay if he rwally wanted to. Just like Kane.

NBTB why you being so aggro? Does me saying Spurs are a big club really annoy you that much?

Simple fact, they are a big club!
Why on earth would I answer your question about how many trophies they've won in the last 20 years? I frankly don't have a clue, nor do I care. Google it if you're so desperate for the answer.
Don't change my answer to suit what you want. Where did I say they were one of the world's elite club? That's something for very very few teams to say. Doesn't alter the fact that they are a big club!
So Kane stays at Spurs because he does have a chance to win something there, gets to play in champions league, is at a club that could very easily win a domestic trophy, is capable of a title challenge. Would he move to Real, Barca, Man Utd? Probably, but because they're beyond big club status.

Now please leave it there, clearly you're getting too het up over me saying Spurs are a big club. I'm finding myself having to discuss Kane when I didn't even bring him up in the first place. I'm not the wiki page for Spurs to answer your pointless questions, and finally I'm actually pretty bored with this thread. I gave my opinion to an innocuous question, each to their own and all that, no need to try and size an opportunity to argue.

Laters bignuts.

Big club is such a strange label to have. It could be finance, trophies, stadium, support, value and it causes countless arguments about who's bigger than who.

Money wise (owners) City are one of the biggest and bigger than the two Spanish sides probably, revenue would see Barca, Real and United. Appeal is probably those three as well. Hours of sunshine would be Barcelona and Real.

Spurs are a big club in terms of appeal, finance, stadium, history and the running of the club, along with about another 40 clubs around Europe including us. With the revenue all these sides have we are all big clubs that can compete at the top end of the scale.

Ultimately, you are only a big club in the truest sense if you are winning and challenging for trophies NOW. Not in the 80's but now. So Spurs are a bigger club at this moment but hopefully in the near future we could be too.

Well done Worcester you really know how to twist things and avoid points other people make to suit yourself. Your not bothered how much Spurs have won. That's convenient because they have won nothing and you know that but won't admit it.

Your the one getting aggro Worcester not me, bignuts ha ha. The simple point was that Kane is similar to Rooney. Although Spurs are a relatively 'big' club he could do better elsewhere. Similar to Rooney at Everton. He could of stayed but decided to go where he had a better chance of success.

Your saying Kane wouldn't have more chance of success at Man City, Chelsea or Barcelona? Of course he would and he knows it but he chooses to stay at Spurs because of his love for the club. He would rather play for them and have less of a chance of winning trophies. Even though compared to Everton they have a much greater chance.

When Suarez left Liverpool (seemingly 'big' club) to Barcelona did he increase his chances of winning trophies even though he came from a 'big' club? Of course he did and he got to utilise his ability better. He chose to leave for himself. He didn't have any devotion to Liverpool like Kane has to Spurs.

I'm not calling you names or ignoring your questions or telling you to look up anything in google. I'm just simply having the banter here. Not getting aggro either. Its just banter.

That's social media for you BeStyrne. All about perspectives I guess. Some can give theirs and take others. Some just can't do that.
