The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Oumar Niasse is in MS plans for this season, I hope to high heaven this is not the case, quite simply not good enough and on far to much money given our ‘clear the decks’ policy we have heard from the club. What people think?

What do you suggest? Sell or loan and buy a 3rd choice striker? We are not too good for Niasse to be brutally honest.

I’d go with the sell (depending on price) I’d like us to be looking for a 1st choice Striker tbh or at least someone to Chalenge CT, to be honest MB from Chelsea, JV Leicester, someone who can at least cover 60 yards in under 6 seconds. Offer us something different maybe. We’ve got DCL for the longer run and I’d happy see back of SR tbh aswell. Nowt personally against Niasse, just not for me.

Blu1, be interesting to see where Everton would have finished without some of Niasses goals in important games when he came on and pulled us out of the mire on more than one occasion.

He is not blessed with skill but he has a knack of hitting the back of the net, definitely worth keeping for the squad rotation.

give 10000% and scores goals, what more do u want for a squad player?!?!?! some people think wer better than we actually are.

From the brief quote attributed to Silva. He sees Niasse clearly as a random impact sub and to be fair to the wild man, he does run his socks off.
I totally understand the thinking. i'm not a fan to be honest, I like to think we're better than him. However, he has a great attitude (probably his biggest asset) and is happy to play when given the chance. Perfect squad player.

Does confirm the end for Sandro. And if a new striker is added, what becomes of DCL?

Exactly my point Johny. Blu: If we bought another striker we would need to loan out DCL as he needs more game time. Which would leave Niasse as 3rd choice. Unless you would buy two strikers. We need reinforcements in other areas much more and we only need quality so would be large outlays. I respect your opinion mate but personally see this as a no brainer mate.

Niasse is a keeper for me - tries his best, runs all day - no great skill levels but for me he is a poacher - always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

If he scores 10-15 goals this season he is an absolute bargain at 13 mill - just have to look at some of the prices of strikers these days. Sandro reminds me of a one hit wonder - at 5 mill worth a punt . sure we will recoup the majority of that, even a small profit if sold.

He made things happen when he came off the bench last season so seems sensible to keep him.

Plus the guy has not had an easy time settling in yet has been the constant professional - surely a good influence on the dressing room and for youth players (we hope) . Prefer that to getting someone like Et’o in.

Niasse will long be remembered as a cult hero for us. What he went through under Koeman was awful yet he still seems delighted to be here, which doesn’t surprise me given he isn’t very good. But as others have said, he does seem to have a knack or getting goals when we need them, which seems to surprise him as much as it does the rest of us. Would rather have him than Bendtner.

I reckon the dislike of him is jealousy. Tell me you’re not all thinking “I deserve a shot in the team if Niasse can get £55k a week for simply being a nice guy and running his arse off. ”.

Anyone think Silva is playing mind games with anyone that is interested in Niasse? I'm not saying he is just think its a possibility, especially with the new approach the club has with buying players. Maybe they intend to be hard sellers too.

Can anyone let me know what happened with the reports at the start of the summer. Problems at the club between players with Niasse being the problem and Tom Davies being very unhappy?
Would keeping Niasse be a problem for other players or was it all BS?

Controversial but I think niasse does challenge tosun, like it or not he scores goals, he's an absolute nuisance and for now he'll do in our squad, sure wed like better but for all this love of dcl niasse scores more?

blu1 I can't believe you don't think Niasse offers something different. He has got to be one of the most unorthdox strikers in the PL. I can't think of any other like him.

Hi all, I do see what he offers and I do get that he is different etc. credit where it’s due. I’m probably still reeling from travelling all the way down to WH last game of the season like I say and watching him have a stinker, and I repeat woeful. - Only as good as your last competitive game etc. 3rd Chice Striker, impact player yeah. I can live with that.

Look at how much Niasse has improved since we first seen him, if he keeps it up we will see Messi quality from him this season.
