I get why people are slagging off Silva and I understand that comparing him to BFS is not saying bring Allardyce back but I think Silva needs more time to see whether he's right for the club or not.
He needs to look at what he can do to improve the squad this window. I think he should be looking for:
A pacey striker who can finish. Might be difficult in January but perhaps on loan from a club just knocked out of champions league. A pacey right winger who can cut in, cross and score and track back Again may be tricky in January but if we get a striker then this might be less important as we can play a proper 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 using DCL and/ or Cenk.
A first choice right back. This could also make getting a right winger less urgent as they can help out Walcott.
A replacement for Gueye who can pass more.
Getting any of these in would make a big difference I think otherwise we are relying on DCL and Lookman and Kenny to step up and will have to keep Gueye.
If we can get 2 or more of these positions sorted we will shoot up the league but the January transfer window is rarely easy. However. Hanging on until the summer I think is risky.
The question is what would be the best position to fill first? There are arguments for any of them.

{Ed0333's Note - it really baffles me how some fans want rid of Silva already? Imagine having to go and clear up Koemans and Big Scam’s crap. That is not something that can be done overnight and takes a few windows.

Short answer Bunny and Ed0333, they are impatient. I admit I have found myself getting more and more frustrated recently, but I counter that with the simple facts that we have much better players now and we are playing - for the most part - more attractive football. There are still issues to be resolved which all takes time, and as long as we don't drop too far down the league this season I hope Marco and Marcel are given the time to sort them out.

It would be a mistake getting shot of Silva now. Even Pochatino said we along with spurs had the worst fixtures over this Xmas period. We looked leggy and lethargic in last game. I'm sure we will get back to our way of playing ASAP. We obviously still need reinforcements. A replacement RB may not be a must if Kenny plays like he did against the Leicester. Definitely a striker needed either permanent or on loan. RW is essential and another CM. It'll come good. We were never a quick fix. Unfortunately a lot of our fans are quite demanding.

{Ed025's Note - arent they just dentie..

This is the big conundrum though Silva's selection of players and tactics? When he gets it right and the team are fresh then we move the ball really well and look like a completely different team. Unfortunately since the derby with the exception of one match we have played very poorly. For me a right sided midfielder would be a priority, I was hoping Bernard would be able to do a job there but he is too left sided for me. I am not sure a striker would be the savior most are thinking as I don't think we create enough finishable chances. I think most of us agree that unless Silva is given the time to build a squad capable of playing the style of football he wants then we will be going back to square one yet again. I am not sure who is the right man to build a team capable of challenging the top 4 what I do know is that if we keep getting rid of managers after a string of poor results then we will never get there. Stability is key to building confidence a good side has bags of confidence. As long as we don't get relegated which is very unlikely then two full seasons should give us an idea if he is the right man for the job or not.

The benefit of a striker would be that we could utilise Ricky on the left and right which in turn helps us to utilise Bernard more.

Calling for Silvas head will always come after a run of bad results from the supporters who didn't want him in the first place.
It is expected and their perogative to want who they like in charge.
Half a season and we are 3/ 4 points away from 7/ 8th i can take. History shows that the likes of Bournemouth and Watford will tail off as the season goes on. I would be very surprised if Wolves and West Ham are vying for 7th and 8th come the end of the season. This leaves us fighting it out with Leicester for 7th. We will recover in the 2nd half of the season with 1 or 2 additions.

I still have the performances of last season etched firmly in my mind and a few off the boil performances won't erase them.
We need to take stock at the end of the season and re evaluate if need be then.

Not a case of getting rid ed333. We are stuck with him now. I don't boo my own team or staff from the terraces, I don't pay for a fly pass. I just voice my opinion on our pages. Our family, it stays in house.
