What does the lad Henry on loan need to do to get work permit I don't understand the rules.

{Ed002's Note - Assuming you mean Henry Onyekuru, he needs a minimum of four points and summary goes something like this:
- The value of the transfer fee (alone) that is to be paid is between the top 75% and 100% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows - 3 points
- The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is between 50% and 75% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows - 2 points
- The basic wage (excluding bonuses) being paid to the player by the new club is in the top 25% of the top 30 earners at the club - 3 points
- The basic wage (excluding bonuses) being paid to the player by the new club is between 50% and 75% of all the top 30 earners at the club - 2 points
- Subjectively, the player’s current club is in a recognised "top" league and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes - 1 point
- The player’s existing club has played in the group stages or onwards of the Champions League, Europa League or the Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes - 1 point

It looks to me he scores:
- 0
- 0
- 0
- 1
- 1}

ed why does it matter how often he plays international football? thanks for the info.

{Ed002's Note - Because the implication is that he is a more "elite" player - else the argument is why does the role not go to one of the existing squad players. Otherwise, clubs will pack their sides with cheap foreign imports - the good old Johny Foreigner.}

Thanks for the summary breakdown Ed002, much appreciated. I'd always wondered about the work permit rules but never really looked into it. Basically it's not looking particularly good for Onyekuru to attain a work permit for us. I'm sure I recall you saying words to that effect previously.

{Ed002's Note - They vary now and again and these are a complete rewite introduce about three years ago. English clubs can get stuck with players who will never obtain a WP - there is a "special talent" route that can be used as an exception but it was abused by two clubs and the chances of approval are slimmer than they were.}

Don't suppose there is a special circumstances route to get him? That being we're rubbish and can't score for toffee haha.

{Ed002's Note - I don't see him as a "special talent".}

Watched the lad a few times and good reports from family. Certainly from what I have seen, he is a talent, whether he is special, we may never know. The Premiership can surprise players from across the channel and further afield.

I think Bjarkster meant special case as in Everton are a special case. In a charity case type way!

Great insight and explanation of the work permit Ed, in theory then we have more chance of seeing Lord Lucan at Goodison than Onyekuru.

So he basically won’t ever get a work permit unless we sell him I thought playing regular for international was the key.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry - I have explained the rules.}
