Realistically we should be looking at 2 choices. Eddie Howe would be a preference but his style may mean results are not forthcoming and it is debatable how much patience the board and the fans have but I think he is a brilliant manager. Sean Dyche would bring instant results but isn’t the sexy choice nor the big name that the board thrive to take us to future title contender status. The likes of Sam Allardyce shouldn’t even be considered they are the Calibre or manager we would have expected round the Walter Smith times and represent a distinct lack of ambition.

If the club's history and motto still mean anything Allardyce should not even be considered. I like most of the other candidates mentioned they clearly all have risks and merits.
What we do need is someone who can build a project, we don't want to be looking for another manager this time next year. Yes there is an immediate need for points but we are not desperate we have a strong squad and a transfer window in 2 months time. Ancelotti sounds from his recent interviews like a man who wants that type of job.

. we are desparate mate. I'm just not desperate enough to want big Sam, pardew, Moyes, rednapp or Warnock.

As things stand even Ian Dowie wouldn’t take the job.
