Hi Ed, with Lukaku going, what do you make of these claims that our signings to date have only been made in anticipation of receiving a huge fee for Lukaku? Do you agree with this or think it is rubbish and would have expected Everton to make the same signings for the same fees regardless of Lukaku's departure.

BlueMonty

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Koeman is getting the players he wants.}

Part of me thinks we have paid more than we expected to get players in early and give them as much time to gel. Being completely honest, I couldn't careless anyway. It's not my money and not my job to care about it.

Do Everton still hold any interest in Koulibaly Ed?

BlueMonty

{Ed002's Note - At the right price I am sure that Everton would still be interested.}

Cheers Ed,

Just out of interest, what do you think would be the 'right price' for Everton? If my memory serves me correctly we were apparently prepared to pay £50 mil for him last year.

{Ed002's Note - That might well be an acceptable price for Everton. However, Napoli are tough to deal with and without CL football it might be hard to persuade the player.}

Please tell me that the reports linking us to Lemos of Las Palmas are untrue Ed. I watch as much La Liga as my spare time allows me and the guy is an absolute shambles. Consistently switches off at vital moments which leads to a goal almost all the time. I watched a couple of Las Palmas games a few weeks back where they were beaten 4-1 by Barcelona, and Lemos was at fault for every goal, and another when they played Leganes, where once again Lemos played a huge role in the shambolic defensive display of his team. The price being quoted is £17 million! I wouldn't even have him on a free. We need to be looking at far better options than this guy.

BlueMonty

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, he does fit the right age profile, but I was under the impression the scouts were looking at Jese and Halilovic at Las Palmas.}

1.) 30 May 2017 16:48:23
Cheers for the response Ed! Halilovic would be a wonderful signing Ed. Think he has everything needed to be a top player. Do you know how extensively the club has scouted him?

{Ed001's Note - you have scouted Las Palmas a lot over the course of the season. Which is why there are rumours about their players. It is a case of people looking at what you are after, with a centre back being right at the top of your list, then putting 2 and 2 together.

I don't know anything about Lemos being scouted, any interest would have had to come via scouts being impressed with him while watching other players. That does happen, but I doubt very much it will have happened in his case as he is seen as a bit of a disaster in Spain, though only young and still has time to improve.

Jese is one you have had consistent interest in, though no idea of his status with PSG. He is the main point of interest.

Halilovic is also on loan there, though from Hamburg (I think), who might well have a speck for him in their team next season.}

Hi Ed,

What interest, if any, do Everton hold in Keita Balde Diao? Do you see the player moving this window?

BlueMonty

{Ed025's Note - i dont see him coming to us monty mate..

Hi Ed,

In light of the Dembele transfer rumours is it likely that if Everton were to put a bid in, James McCarthy would be used as part of the deal?

BlueMonty

{Ed025's Note - that is certainly an option monty as celtic are very interested in james so why not..

1.) 19 Jun 2017 17:08:06
Call me sceptical but I feel the price being quoted for a player who has only played at Championship level with Fulham and then Sunday league level at Celtic is quite high.
It could be a very expensive gamble with no real chance of recouping your outlay back.

2.) 19 Jun 2017 19:44:34
Don't forget he scored in the champions Sunday League.
Bluegray go to YouTube watch his goals.
I'm hoping for this deal gets done. I'm hoping we can part exchange some of players with it ie Niasse, McCarthy, McGeady, Besic. I just hope it's not at the expense of we have to sell Lukaku to buy him.

3.) 19 Jun 2017 19:49:27
Honestly part of me would still be gutted for jay Mac to go but if it was as part of a deal like this, it would make sense.

4.) 19 Jun 2017 19:54:26
All due respect Mowfee YouTube makes Niasse look worth the 13mill we paid for him and we all know he ain't worth that, not having that after 1 season in a poor Scottish league he is worth in excess of 30mill.

5.) 19 Jun 2017 20:29:45
Bluegray totally understand where you are coming from there. The top post with the video in the banter section I actually posted last night. Delay in the system lol. But I mentioned about youtube making people look great and that goals are goals. That's it. They are either poachers goals, tap in's or candidates for goal of the season. Watch the video I posted and make what you will of them. I for one think they were all pretty darn classy. But of course you are absolutely bang on if he turns out to be a complete flop then that is a lot of money wasted. But can't you say that with any player?
I for one hopes this deal happens anyway. Not because we sold Lukaku and we need another striker. My big concern is both Lukaku and Dembele are the main solo artists upfront with assistance from the wings and number 10. Could they play upfront together or would one of them cancel other out and that would be a disaster.

6.) 20 Jun 2017 12:05:40
Fair point Mowfee but Lukaku is a goner so Dembele would be a replacement I would think, as I said I'm being sceptical in valuation based on experience but then suppose Mbappe is the same with his price being quoted for relevant inexperience.

I think it's excellent business by Everton bringing him in. I'll be honest, before we beat Sunderland 3-0 at goodison i'd seen very little of Pickford and was skeptical of the hype. The game at goodison only backed up what I thought. He looked dodgy coming out and claiming crosses and didn't look like he had the safest hands. Although I heard after the game when speaking to another Blue that he'd been out for 3 months before he played, so I decided to watch a few more Sunderland games. Despite all that what said about Defoe last season, from the few games I watched Sunderland towards the tail end of the season, Pickford was their outstanding player.

It made me think of the situation with De Gea when he first arrived. I'm not saying they're both in the same league, only time will tell, but DDG was a young keeper with a big price tag and a lot of hype. When he first came in he was dreadful, his handling was embarrassing and he seemed to lack any real presence in the box, something that a top goalkeeper has to possess. Although with the backing on the Man U fans he really turned a corner and became the world class keeper of today. Hopefully, our fans will give Pickford the same support to go on to be a top class keeper.

One last thing, I've been looking at how Sunderland fans have been reacting to the news and it's very telling that they're all gutted he's leaving. Many have said he's the best player they've produced in decades. So overall, cracking business by the blues!

Wouldn't have him Svenny. As he has already shown he is just another mercenary. Believes he is better than what he is, let's his performances drop when he doesn't get the move he wants. If he came to us we'd just be used as a stepping stone in his eyes. Don't want players like that anywhere near the club.
