Besic photographed outside San Carlo today. It's believed that he will complete his medical tomorrow and could travel to Thailand for the game at the weekend!

BlueStu1878

1.) Apparently he will be one of the players unveiling the away kit, so won't be going to Thailand

2.) 24 Jul 2014 09:28:34
I went to San Carlos once, very cold and wet and full of young Argentinean men trying to shoot me. Not my best night out ;)

Just Barkley in Liverpool One walking with an orthopedic boot on. Looks like it definitely is a broken Toe.

BlueStu1878

{Ed025's Note - or he could be auditioning for a part in star wars as an imperial soldier stu :)

1.) They said on the radio that they saw him with the boot on at the game and that it's just a precautionary measure IN CASE it's a broken toe. Won't know until the scan.

I'm not panicking for one minute about the lack of signings, Farhad seems to know what he wants and is quietly going about getting them. Koeman by the end of this week will have had a look at the squad and will have assessed what he needs. I expect things will gather pace over the next week or so.

Agree mate don't want us to make signings just to keep us all happy or we might get stung again (Niasse) not his fault i know but need to do our homework better this time around.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 14:52:56
The priority is/ has been to get backroom staff sorted. Now that's allmost done they will look at what we need to who is available. don't stress just let the powers to be do their work.

3.) 20 Jul 2016 15:56:48
It's not the back room staff that play on the park is it. We do need some signings so they can jell before pre-season starts not last minute signings.

4.) 20 Jul 2016 16:58:08
No the don't play ab. But they run every thing else. Including player sales/ purchases. Why panic buy before the club is set up the way moshiri and co want.

Right, I'm going to try and be optimistic here. Still hoping for a Marquee signing. Martinez has said all along that we have money to spend (Surely he would have just said nothing if this wasn't true) so let's just wait and see. If we haven't got as big a budget as other teams it actually makes sense to leave it late, announce a deal and get it through before anyone can gazump us. Whether we have actually done this will only be known at 18:01 tomorrow so let's keep the faith until then. I'm still cautiously optimistic. COYB!!

For all his faults, looking at the Martinez interview after the match, he definitely wants Stones to stay. He could have made no comment or told the interviewer that subject was off limits. He didn't and stated again not for sale. Fair play to him for that.

BlueStu1878

1.) 26 Aug 2015 23:25:46
But he will sell him and but mediocre!
Watch this space!

Right, for my own sanity I'm logging out of this site until after the window has closed. Way, way too much negativity at the moment it's a joke. See you all next week.

BlueStu1878

{Ed025's Note - enjoy your sabbatical mate..

1.) 24 Aug 2015 22:11:30
Good luck with that, I've tried. But I have managed to cut down to about 20 visits a day. Just wait for the pendulum to swing back to happy and excited when the rags come up with another fantasy footballer for us to dream about.

{Ed025's Note - your on more than me steve.. :)

Hope these rumours of a kenwright out banner being flown over St Mary's on Saturday are wide of the mark? It's an embarrassing way to go about things. You have to love these "fan" groups and I use the term fan extremely loosely all for change but with no plan of their own as to how to proceed.

BlueStu1878

1.) 15 Aug 2015 04:31:45
Yeah I think we need change at the club desperately but a plane flying over for a few seconds that let's face it, no one is going to pay any attention to at the board, is pretty pointless. If they want change and are a supposed cause for said change then they need to find a more creative and effective way than a plane with a message that will do nothing. I cannot see the board seeing the plane and suddenly they all think just because it's on a plane we should instantly take note and do as the banner says?. I don't get it, does having stuff being said in the sky make it more meaningful and effective?. We should do that for Cameron then, just fly it over his house and he will definitely step down. He sees the hate at a constant rate everywhere but on a plane? That gets his attention. Quite silly I agree but I would add pointless, unoriginal, odd and a waste of money and fuel in there too.

2.) 15 Aug 2015 09:02:19
Everyone is rightly unhappy about the way we are playing and our hope of a good string of results over the next two months, but what realistic plan does anyone have if Bill and the board went? Who do you think would buy the club? Is there any evidence at all that there is anyone out there asking to spend the hundreds of millions it would take for a new stadium and an improved squad? What would they get for that money? Slightly improved match revenue but still little chance of breaking top four unless they literally spend over a billion or ignore the ground issue. I'm sure we could do a bit better commercially, but it's poor in the sky to think that we can compete with - unfortunately -the mancs, chelski or the rs commercially. We are not a good business investment and there is little chance of another Abramovic or Mansour turning us into the next City or Chelsea. I wish there was, but for every one of them there are ten Blackburn, Leeds, Middlesbrough, QPR, Villa, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Hull, etc where new owners have failed to improve the club or have actually destroyed it. Did Hicks and Gillett make a difference across the park? How about the Glazers anyone? New owners are businessmen and is not an easy business to be successful in if by success you mean winning things rather than making a bit of profit. Be careful what you wish for. We are a really respectable club with fine traditions and a good squad. Tactics need to change and of course we need investment, but flying a plane calling for the board or manager to go is the rs and Utd way, not the Everton way - or so I thought. Have some respect while the guy is seriously ill and think about what the alternatives are realistically.

{Ed025's Note - cracking post that mate..

Echo have confirmed he's in Liverpool. Solid start to the summer two decent players in for minimal outlay. Now let's get some marquee signings with a bit of wow factor and good times may well be on the horizon!

Not sure how old you are mate, but trust me we have had much worse. going back to the dark days of the 90's with Paul Holmes, Brett Angel and Gareth Farrelly to more recently Per Koldrup and the Straq. That said I'm all for others opinions and I'll be the first on here if he turns out to be as terrible as you say he is to hold my hand up.

Has Cleverley slept with your missus or something Swan? Such hatred for a player you've hardly seen! 😂 We have paid fees for much worse players than Cleverley! He did well at Wigan struggled under Moyse at United (who didn't) and did well at Villa? Basically we're getting a player who has played for his country and may well do again for nothing, He deserves a chance and I for one hope he proves everyone wrong for no other reason than it will benefit the club.

He never looked comfortable enough on the ball for a Moyes team never mind a Martinez one! Sometimes it just doesn't work out for a player. He may well play in the prem at some point but never at our level!

I suppose it all comes down to whether your a glass half empty/full person as to how you read what Martinez actually said. I read it as, it will take time for Traore to get used to the premier league and that he expects him to have a big impact for the last ten games of the season. I therefore think he will be playing well before then but we may not see the best of him til the crucial run in.

The more I read about Lucien Favre the more I think he could be great. Decent record most places he's been, plays a fast counter attacking style and likes to give the young pups a game. Admittedly he's not as big a draw as some of the names mentioned and he has a reputation for being highly strung but if we can't get our first choices then he'd be worth looking at.

That's utter nonsense Swan, he may not be world class but he's no where near as bad as you make out. I could list a whole team of Everton players in the premier league era worse than him?

BlueStu1878

Bit harsh that Swan, last time I looked event the best flair players can't do much without the ball. He might not be a creative force, but in my opinion at he's best he's a very good box to box midfielder. Admittedly he hasn't hit the heights of last year but no one has so far this term. It's easy to forget after our below average start that we were all dreading United coming in for him during the Summer. I'd like to see him and Besic given a go at some point maybe when Barkley is back? Would be a very dynamic midfield with McCarthy doing the Barry role and Besic getting up and down.
