In 2010 I went to Easter road to watch Scotland u21’s play Iceland. One G Sigurdsson scored 2 goals, destroyed us and i’ve been a huge fan of his talent ever since. So happy he’s at our club and playing with the freedom to show how good he is. What a goal, what a goal today,

good job Marco, that was much better.

Love Siggs and it was another great display by him. Sam didn't utilise his talents and it cost us. Marco on the other hand will give him the freedom to do what he does best. Great all round display by the whole team today.

Agree mate, but Tom was bad again,

3.) 07 Oct 2018 12:41:45
I like him but he does worry me sometimes Lee. He can be a bit over-enthusiastic and reckless at times. He's still a kid so hopefully he'll learn to reign it in a bit.

4.) 07 Oct 2018 16:32:11
I don't know what game you were watching Lee, I thought Tom had a pretty good game. He is still only 20 and will only get better with more experience.

imagine digging out tom davies on a post about how good gyfli was? honestly some of the stuff posted about the lad he's done nothing wrong, sure he may not be lighting up the team at the moment, but neither was gylfi until a few games ago give him a chance for gods sake, there's a reason marcos sticking with him, embarrassing.

The Sam bounce well and truly over, embarrassing, and we’re linked with mediocre players like Walcott. Don’t see where the light at the end of this tunnel is. The individuals in this squad are strong enough to be doing better than this, so frustrating.

You for real? Spuds just destroyed us and showed how much quality we lack still. Rooney is holding us back, no natural left winger or full back. Bolasie and macca still no where near fitness and struggled today, no depth in squad to really mix it up. The kids are all too young. We need a first team of 24-30 year olds, kids off the bench. Spurs showed us how far behind we are imo.

2.) 13 Jan 2018 20:22:10
Maybe put the monocle back in pal, said they are strong enough to be doing better, not beating spurs or winning titles. Hardly a ringing endorsement. You’re right, more than one unfit player is a luxury we can’t afford and better options on the bench. With more balance in tactics these players could be doing better (more competitive) in my opinion.

Made it to st James last night, first live game for a while. Obviously happy with the 3 points but that was definitely some tough viewing. If one or both of their efforts that hit the post had of gone in it would have been hard to argue that they weren't worthy of a share of the spoils.

Anyway, in terms of our team, my main observations were:

- Holgate and Kenny are wonderful defenders. Any block, tackle, saving header etc they were outstanding. Even better, they seemed to relish the battle, particularly Holgate. Defensively brilliant. Offensively however, somewhere between below average and average. Rarely did they find a target with a forward pass. Kenny must have aimed for the corner a dozen times but put the majority straight in to touch. He needs to put a lot more effort in to that side of the game in training. Coleman is such a miss going forward.

- Lennon was underwhelming, personally Vlasic is a better option and looks hungrier

- DCL is quality. Nothing but balls hoofed to him all night but never stopped working and when he did get a pass to feet made the right decision. He's got a big future imo

- For glimpses Gylfi looked like the class player on the park, worked hard from a position that he is wasted in really, but overall strong game and in the right direction

- gana was typically outstanding, mopped everything up

Left the game with mixed emotions. Defensively brilliant and we won't be relegation fodder any time soon. BUT, even buying a top striker will be no use if the team doesn't change approach and upgrade the players that cannot find a team mate with a forward pass. We're so far behind the top 6 and i don't see that changing without a crop of talent coming in. I can't get excited about Sam's 'antifootball' but completely understand why it's necessary at the moment to generate a solid foundation to build from. Hopefully with confidence comes a relaxation and some room to show that they are more capable as an attacking team. Onwards and upwards #coyb.

Sam is not anti football. He had Jay Jay Okocha and Ivan Campo at Bolton. Wonderful footballers. He will sign some creativity. But you are right that he will build a foundation first.

Tbf I don’t think just having flair players at a club means you’re not anti football.

Mark Hughes is anti football just he disguised it by hoofing the ball to Arnautovic instead of Crouch because Arnautovic would do some skilful bringdown of the ball making you forget that Shawcross just launched it 90 yards up the pitch.

Funny how Hughes has since struggled when he left.

I know this is unlikely, but gylfi, giroud and VVD would make us real contenders. can something like those 3 really come off? I'll be greedy and ask for Brahimi as the cherry on the icing on the cake. Can't wait to see this all unfold, COYB.

Loving all this transfer activity early doors, couldn't face another deadline day nail biter. Definitely think we've strengthened well so far but prob not enough for top 4 yet. Think gylfi or equivalent is the key, someone who can unlock defences the way erikson does at spurs or say hazard at Chelsea. I know Klassen has a bit of that about him but unproven in the PL. If we can source a bit of magic there and either keep or replace Lukaku then that's a pretty formidable looking team. Actually, maybe deadline day will be a nail biter after all.

Sigurdsson is the key for me mate. If Ross goes then this guy would be an improvement for me. Being greedy I know but if we only make one more signing in this window I would want him. Oh and Giroud, said I was being greedy. 😄😄😄.

{Ed025's Note - them 2 would complete the jigsaw for me woburn, come on farhad get that wallet out again mate.. :)

In a perfect fantasy football world mbappe would come in to replace lukaku. Too good for England tonight and can see why the biggest clubs are circling, what a prospect.

I thought we 'slapped' a £100m price tag on lukaku and then sold for £75m plus £15m add ons. £40 plus £5m seems pretty reasonable but can see why Swansea are holding out, he's such a huge player for them.

Fully agree with the sentiment of your post Kingo. We've improved well and are stronger but we're not top 4 yet. I think Sigurdson is a must but not at £50m, just like Ross is never a £50m player.

Also don't get the big money for Niang but Pickford and Klassen def move us in the right direction. Almost wishing the summer away to get next season rolling!

Find myself agreeing with elements of Degsy's thought process. From a purely commercial point of view, if you invest in sponsorship to the tune of £75m you would be looking for s return of more than that value over some sort of time horizon (5 - 10 years) from the direct and indirect halo effects of the deal. That's clearly not going to happen here so there is definitely more to it than simple sponsorship. However, don't believe at all it is sinister or underhand and hope we spend it wisely. Good times ahead.

{Ed025's Note - good times indeed bulls mate..
