Looks like Man Utd now close to a deal for Lukaku. No surprises. Chelsea refuse to pay the agent's fees demanded, hence an ability of Chelsea to force through a deal.

In answer to a previous question. It isn't £75 million as one lump sum. When clubs refer to "up front", it simply means that the figure doesn't include any additional clauses. The vast majority of all transfers are paid over a number of years, normally corresponding to the length of a contract signed. The Premier League much vaunted "2 year" limit has never been enforced because it contravenes EU regulations.

In this case, Utd will pay Everton 10% now and about 65% over the length of the contract Lukaku signs: probably 5 years. The rest of the deal will comprise clauses etc etc.

It isn't a drama. Everton pay fees this way also.

I often wonder why some fans get all worked up about transfer payments, when it doesn't affect them. Calm down.

Sorry fatdave but I totally disagree with what you are saying.

1) What happens if the player signs an extension does the payment term increase?

2) How does FFP work with this?

3) What EU regulations is it that say a club has to wait longer than a normal business to collect it's money?

4) Technically until final payment is made he remains an Everton player unless stated in the TOC that payments are spread.

5) Up Front mean exactly that, all monies are paid up-front. That is the reason why so few clubs could actually afford him.

There has been a growing realization that Ancelotti was the wrong choice for Everton. Performances and results have not improved in the way the clubs hierarchy expected. And Ancelotti's demands for more money in the summer have worsened relations.

Ancelotti himself has been far from happy at Everton. He just hasn't enjoyed being at the club, his tactics and training techniques have been resisted by some of the players and Ancelotti hasn't settled in the area.

The problems last year were that Everton spent too much money, bought too many players, bought the wrong players and bought players for the wrong positions.

Everton need to avoid this again.

One or two first team signings will be sufficient, along with a couple of younger prospects.

A quiet transfer window this summer is critically needed.

What massive so-called chest? There isn't necessarily that much to spend. A £10 million player might cost £40 million over the length of his contract and Everton just spend £130 million on new players, with the associated additional costs.

There is going to be more caution at Everton about wasting even more money. Yes, Allardyce will have funds but you can rule out spectacular buys in January.

Deeney is a logical buy but Everton probably 2 strikers, not just one.

And don't forget that players have to want to join the club in the first place.

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid want to sign Stones on loan before they sign him when their transfer ban expires. Stones' agent has been involved in setting up the loan.

Because Stones' agent leaked the story!

The agent will already be negotiating terms with a buying club long before a deal is reached

{Ed025's Note - dont you just love these agents dave...blood sucking leeches who dont give a toss about the club or the player only about their cut in the deal..
