Was at the game yesterday, not going to go all doom and gloom like but Stones and Funes Mori both expansive ball playing defenders which is good, we are an attacking team we can probably out score 18 of the 19 other teams. (think city are probably bigger threat) the only problem we clearly have is in between the sticks! Howard has been great for the club but no longer, the only saves he made were shots straight at him. Anything left right up or down he's hopeless! And don't get me started on his fear of collecting a ball from a corner or a cross! How can a keeper be so afraid to come collect across after so long at the top? Genuinely think we should bring a new keeper in January! .

1.) 29 Nov 2015 22:37:12
Even though I'm not worried about yesterday's result I agree 100% Jayfwls. Surely a new keeper or even trying Joel is top priority. Will cost us a lot of points by the end of the season if Howard is kept in goals.

Keeper position is so important. Time something was done. Big time.

2.) 29 Nov 2015 23:32:30
I agree.

3.) 30 Nov 2015 14:04:55
Joel definitely deserves a chance! Maybe wrong here but didn't he keep clean sheets in all his PL appearances last season, was only 3 or 4 games like but still.

4.) 30 Nov 2015 15:33:45
Exactly Jayfwls. He also has an FA cup medal. Say what you want about that. Its still a fact he has one.

Whispers that there's a deal to take McGeady from Everton to Sunderland before 18:00 - were not willing to sell until Lennon has signed though. Lennon in and McGeady out is just as good as 2 new signings!

Jayfwls

1.) 01 Sep 2015 15:20:44
Could be a legit this one as Sunderland have been linked before.

24 Aug 2015 16:23:01
Hearing whispers that now Roma are in for Yarmalenko we are moving for Iturbe from Roma? Argentine 22 winger £13.2M being branded about - could be just as good a signing IMO, still very raw but fits in with outer potential world class 20-22year old strategy? Thoughts blues?

Jayfwls

1.) 24 Aug 2015 17:22:38
Sorry never heard of him. But then again I've never heard of either of these River Plate boys either. If we are buying on age, my lads just coming up to 21 and he's got his own shirt. Mother where's the phone!

2.) 24 Aug 2015 19:38:46
I've only heard of him because I had a 4 month stint in Rome for work last season made it down to a few games there, he's decent lots of potential still an unfinished article though

{Ed025's Note - thanks for the info jay..

3.) 24 Aug 2015 20:32:01
Iturbe is a good player, but won't offer anything different to Deulofeu.

25 Jul 2015 11:08:01
Just read an article about Cleverly playing the number 10 roll, humanity is officially doomed, can't believe people get paid to write and publish this shaff! - but on another note if we did sign Lennon or Capel along with Gerry wouldn't we have enough wingers to play Mirralas behind Lukaku? Where he played for Olympiacos and was top scorer in the league? Just a suggestion like

Jayfwls

Is it true we've enquiried about Dries Mertens from Napoli? Very simular player to Kev just with a more powerful shot, played 51 times last season and is contracted til 2018. Surely going to cost too much?

Jayfwls

1.) 01 Jul 2015 14:45:03
10 mil apparently and he can play on left and behind striker and is good friends with kev

2.) 01 Jul 2015 16:52:47
I'd take him for 10m like, just can't see Napoli selling a key player.

3.) 01 Jul 2015 19:04:15
he not happy with his playing time as he wants to play more but they generally play with hamsik and galbandi

Just a curious one here, but do you think if we had of signed Payet or Wijnaldum in the summer, that we would be in a better league position now, we are crying out for a midfielder who can bang in 10 a season.

Jayfwls

1.) 26 Jan 2016 10:27:27
Problem is not scoring goals it's letting them in at other end. We need a keeper and manager who can coach team to defend simple as.

Quite like the sound of the new 'prospective takeover' they are offering £30M less than the Kansas consortium did? Haven't quite worked that out yet, but these guys are rich (granted not super rich) but rich enough to build a stadium and sustain the club financially meaning we can put the whole TV budget into the transfer kitty? Also undoubtedly they will make us a bigger name in America and internationally, but I do think a lot of this depends on how we treat TH over the coming months as he is idolised and adored in the states, I just hope because they aren't super rich that they have some grace with the ticket prices for game, there will be an increase that's obvious I just hope it's not to much! - makes me wonder will big blue bill sanction any funds for transfers in January knowing he's going to be sold up by February?

Jayfwls

1.) 23 dec 2015 11:14:54
good point jay about funds bieng released in jan we will soon find out in a week if bids for yarmo and the likes are made as for them not bieng super rich jay i have just read that they are billi0nares that's rich enough for me mate wud welcome anyone elses point on them being billionares anyone else read wot i read.

{Ed002's Note - I would recommend not thinking about the takeover or finances.}

2.) 23 dec 2015 11:36:07
cant help it ed its that time of year happy xmas.

3.) 23 Dec 2015 11:56:00
Jayfwiz, do not underestimate Evertons popularity abroad, especially in the Far East. I worked in Hong Kong late 60's early 70's and we were well known even then.

21 Dec 2015 22:48:53
I just wish this Yarmolenko talk would go away, if your the best player in your country, playing for the best team in your country, you've just signed a 4 year deal (meaning we'd have to pay upwards of £25m) and you've just gotten through to the knock out stages of the CL for the first time (with his boyhood club) WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE TO JOIN 10th place in the premiership with a flump in goal who couldn't catch a cold in an igloo in the artic!

Can we just sign a decent young keeper and play Mirrallas on the left over Kone? Problem solved, one down few more to go!

Jayfwls

1.) 21 Dec 2015 23:03:26
Totally agree Jayfwls well said.

2.) 21 Dec 2015 23:08:18
agree / were is my post about moyes.

{Ed033's Note - Your moyes post was placed by an ed on the 'other posts' page.

3.) 22 Dec 2015 00:51:16
Getting bored of the Yarmolenko talk now, need a striker, left winger/play Mirallas and a Goalkeeer/play Joel.

11 Dec 2015 15:56:41
So apparently RM has said he will sell Mirrallas and Naismith in January if they want to leave? So SN most likely to Norwich for £8m (believe that was the number they offered in the summer) and Kev everyone says £15m but I don't think we would get any more than £10m.

So £18m where would we spend it?

I'd say GK personally but RM is seemingly in love with Tim Howard. Interested to see what you guys would suggest to do with this potential money! (NB actually quite like both players so wouldn't mind them staying)

Jayfwls

1.) 11 Dec 2015 16:24:31
Add 10 mill to it and get Yarmolenko, i'm not giving in on this till he signs for a new club lol.

2.) 11 Dec 2015 16:56:15
Kiev are through to the knockout stages in the CL aren't they? Don't think we have a chance anymore!

{Ed002's Note - Dynamo Kyiv managed to persuade Yarmolenko not to move this past summer and managed to get him to sign a new contract. There has been interest over the past year from Roma, Spurs, Stoke, Fiorentina, Everton, Inter and Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, Napoli and Manchester City all dropped their interest and PSG, who were considering Yarmolenko as a possible option to replace Lavezzi this past summer, seem to have done the same - at least for now but there is a reasonable chance Lavezzi could move in January. Yarmolenko has expressed a desire to move to Barcelona or Chelsea - and there has been more than one approach made directly to the Chelsea to gauge their interest. Right now it looks like Barcelona are considering their options for a January bid, but much will depend for them on an entirely separate matter. Whilst an approach was made to the agent of Yarmolenko by Arsenal in the summer, nothing could be done. He spent the summer screwing everyone around and there is still a lingering view he could do the same in January. I don't know if anything can be done or if Arsenal or Barcelona will push, but Piero Ausilio was at a recent game to look again at him - so Inter might still be in the mix but they are looking elsewhere and are stumped for cash right now.}

3.) 11 Dec 2015 18:45:56
I have a sneaky suspicion you copied and pasted that Ed. Looks very familiar. Can't blame you. Sick of Yarmolenko.

He is unproven anywhere appart from where he is. I think he'd be too much hassle for what he's worth. Could disrupt everything. I know people are mad for him. Not me, too much of a gamble along with the big fee.

Don't get me wrong if he signed and was a hit I'd be as delighted as anyone. Just think we should move on and try and sign someone else.

{Ed002's Note - The situation is unchanged - the words are pretty much as they were when I wrote them.}

4.) 11 Dec 2015 19:54:37
I know Ed, that's basically what I was saying. Load of sh*te imo. Circus surrounding the signing of that player. I ignore what the rags say but hate the amount of talk about him here.

5.) 11 Dec 2015 21:52:15
For 18 Mill I would much rather keep both players. I know we have Lennon but Del Boy is on fire. I have been the first to say don't change a winning team but perhaps we can change a drawing one. Mirallas and Del Boy attacking down the flanks scare defences it is as simple as that.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see mirallas playing DM, he fell out with martinez..and that man holds a grudge..

6.) 11 Dec 2015 22:33:48
Yea, we seen it all with Distin last season.

7.) 11 Dec 2015 22:46:59
Interesting to see if naisy get a good few mins on the pitch against Norwich. Keep em interested in him for january.

8.) 11 Dec 2015 23:56:46
NBTB, to be fair, Distin was dreadful last season.

9.) 12 Dec 2015 09:09:38
No doubt Swan he was bad last season but he wasn't the only one. Plenty of other players were bad last season. The point is Distin never got a chance especially after December of last year.

Once you fall out with Martinez your doomed. That's the real point I'm making. Distin was wanted in the January transfer and wasn't allowed to leave. Even though it would of been better for everyone especially Everton if he was allowed to do so.

As far as I remember from January to May the only game he played in was the final game of the season for a farewell. Was the least he deserved.

Mirallas situation seems to be similar. Not as bad but pretty similar to Distins.

08 Dec 2015 12:33:11
Do you think this Kone over Mirallas issue could be down to Galloway being our only choice at left back? And Kone naturally will offer him more protection than Mirrallas would? Meaning that Mirrallas is being kept for when baines is fully fit? To make our left side just as terrifying as our right? Really hope this is the case!

Jayfwls

1.) 08 Dec 2015 12:51:12
I wasn't overly impressed with Baines when he came on last night. I know he is not match fit but he was caught out of position quite a few times. He is not ready to replace Galloway just yet. Mirallas is out of here in January.

2.) 08 Dec 2015 14:18:18
Actually agree with 1940Mike, Baines has never been a good defender he is more a wing back that is in the team for his delivery which since his first spell out has not been that good. Our best left sided defender/wing back is currently out on loan.

3.) 08 Dec 2015 15:00:23
Is it just me that sees Galloways weaknesses, I don't want to knock the lad because he has done well. But he is reluctant to cross the ball and I can see other teams target that side as a weakness. He is young and learning but I think he is a CB and reminds me of when Stones played right back. So hopefully those two will be partners for years to come. Get Baines back fit and get the threat down that side again like bainarr. Maybe Mirrallas to replace piennar. And next season Garbutt will be ready to step up. If we can have that threat on either wing and Rom leading the line. The future looks good.

4.) 08 Dec 2015 19:09:55
Actually I would like to see Galloway at left-back and Baines at left-midfield or whatever the position is called these days. This would make a much stronger defense and attacking combination than the Galloway and Kone one.

5.) 08 Dec 2015 19:16:49
We could have a really exciting team over the next couple of years if we can keep them together. I think Howard may go back to the States at the end of the season and Jagielka and Barry will still be in the side next season.
Robles 25
Coleman 28
Stones 21
Galloway 19
Garbutt 22
McCarthy 25
Deulofeu 21
Barkley 22
Mirrallas 28
Lukaku 22

And it does look like Mirrallas might go but I would love to see that team. We have some really good young defenders and Mori looks good. Maybe a new keeper and if Mirrallas does go Roberto to find another Geri for the left side. We need a decent backup for Lukakuu.

6.) 08 Dec 2015 20:44:53
Robbie, you do realise you are missing one player in that team?

7.) 09 Dec 2015 05:34:03
Cleverley was the missing one sorry. And hopefully a few of our youngsters like Ledson to add to that but some do not make the grade as we all had expectations of George green.

8.) 09 Dec 2015 08:42:02
Hope one or two make the grade because George Green is now playing for Ossett Albion, released from Oldham after only a few months, such a shame but for that to happen the lad must have a bad attitude about him, it all starts to make sense why he didn't make the grade.

{Ed025's Note - its not easy for these young lads gibbo, living away from home usually and with the pitfalls that come with being in the spotlight, there is great expectation and pressure that a lot dont cope with mate and george is just one example of that..

9.) 09 Dec 2015 09:23:53
Plus I don't think Ryan Ledson is stupid enough to do what George Green did.

On Galloway, Robbie, think everyone knows he can't go forward, to be fair, he is a Centre Half. My worry isn't teams targeting him, it's the lack of support our left back gets. Galloway has done very well because he's a good defender, Baines, is not, Garbutt seems a healthy combination of both players qualities without their weaknesses.

The issue with dropping Kone is it makes Rom go back to being isolated up top and having to handle 3 or 4 players by himself. Kone opens up space for Rom to run in to and have less to do. Straight 4-4-2 would do me, drop Ross or Macca, Mirallas and Doofy Loofy on the wings. Rom and our Ivorian prince up top. Of course this won't happen but meh.

10.) 09 Dec 2015 15:06:06
Robbie I see weaknesses in Galloway too and think Baines is a much better player at left back. Galloway is still developing and i've no doubt he'll become a very good centre half. Baines is the finished article, his defence play could be much better but his distribution is 1st class. He can turn defence in to attack with 1 pass straight to a strikers feet. His passing accuracy too Lukaku on Monday was very good. He can hit the ball with power low through the midfield and take out oppositions midfield. Not many wing backs have this skill.

11.) 09 Dec 2015 18:49:08
Besic would be another obvious one for me in that team. Hope to god he gets a proper chance again.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is NBTB...who would you drop for him?, macca is 1st choice DM, barry has been excellent, ross is our most creative and clevs was top class against palace, its a tough one mate..

12.) 09 Dec 2015 19:41:24
Drop Macca, Besic can do McCarthy's job but has good ability on the ball.

13.) 09 Dec 2015 19:28:25
I agree Ed, I know its tough. I just think its an awful shame. I love the type of player Besic is. He'd run through a brick wall for Everton from what I've seen. a lot to offer.

I'll give you another one Ed, you never mentioned Gibson. I really like Gibson too. Imo Gibson would be our first player in that position if he kept injury free. He's quality I think and is a good all rounder.

Anyway its brilliant to see strength in depth. Besic was never tried at centre back either which he has apparently played before he came to Everton.

{Ed025's Note - were strong there as well NBTB...can he play in goal?.. :)

14.) 09 Dec 2015 19:40:12
I'd loan him out if I could Ed. Wouldn't like to lose him or Gibson for that matter. Barry has been excellent but his retirement is just around the corner. And I hate to bring it up but there is a chance McCarthy could leave for a supposedly 'bigger' club.

If or when the above happened I'd like to have Clev, Besic and Gibson. Would save investing in that area. The money could be used to strengthen an area that needs it more.

O yea Barkley also would be added to the above 3 in that position.

15.) 09 Dec 2015 21:53:45
Yes, yes Ed. That's the best idea I've ever heard on this site, Besic for Goals! A wait, wouldn't that be totally taking the piss of. Joel. Only Joel really. No other person was mentioned in this ad 😋.

Would have to loan him back for the full season. Could only loan him til January or to July, but the CL groups will still be on in January? Correct me if I'm wrong - so we'd be paying 14.5mil for a player who can't play for us for a year who we could sign for free in a year. I agree with use sign the lad up now even if we do wait 12 months, but the board will see it as they can have a bargain next season, just for him to go to Stoke or West Ham United because they will offer him 90k a week and we will come in with £35k a week and a free half season ticket for his whole family
