Hi Ed - is it just me or is it not illegal for clubs to talk to our players (or their agents) without our permission. If so surely Barcelona are in breach of the rules?

formbyjules

{Ed002's Note - It is illegal but Barcelona has not spoken directly to John Stones.}

Just thought i'd put this out there - with the likelihood RK is going to axe a number of players - let's say we can bring in 5 realistic targets - which 5 would you buy and why?

formbyjules

1.) 22 Dec 2016 11:49:50
Personal preffences

1 schneidetlein. prem proven and was great for ronny at Southampton.

2 Michael Keane . good young centre back that's only honing to get better. Only head of van dijk due reported 40m asking price for van dijk.

3 ever banega . look at europa final last year, passed Liverpool apart. Creative and gets stuck in

4 . Kevin gameiro. great striker, fast, good movement great passers-by

5 - coretin tolisso. skilful centre mid that can pick a pass. Only young as well so could build a team around him.

No team will allow a good keeper to leave in Jan, so that and a left back (as competition for bsines) would be 1st signings in january after that look at wide attackers.

2.) 22 Dec 2016 12:51:43
I think that due to availability Schneiderlin should be our first target.

I would have Depay but only on loan as it's too big a risk for £20m+.

I would like to see Troy Deeney (he would be excellent either up front with Lukaku or with Koeman's pressing as a lone striker as he is hardworking and a bit of an all rounder) .

As for a GK, I would still put a cheeky bid in for Begovic, as he is second fiddle at Chelsea and would be available for a reasonable price. I would prefer Butland but he would be a bit unrealistic as they would be unwilling to sell and the price would be huge.

I would still like Van Dijk as well.

My list is a little unrealistic as I can't see us spending £100m in one window!

{Ed002's Note - Spartak Moscow, Marseille, Milan, Roma and Wolfsburg, in addition to Everton, have a declared interest in Depay. I would not expect a goalkeeper in January.}

3.) 22 Dec 2016 13:51:56
Ed002 is right on the goalkeeper front, I would also urge a little bit of a step back on carried away with all transfers to be honest. The only players normally available in January are (sorry but true) cast offs or surplus to requirements. Some of those mentioned are young up and coming, they will demand high wages and their Clubs will add a couple of mill onto the price, that is always supposing they are willing to let them go.

4.) 22 Dec 2016 15:06:56
Its the realistic thing that makes it difficult. I would like
Depay on loan only.
Schneiderlin as he has performed well in the PL already.
Moussa Dembele its a bit of a risk but any striker is, if are not already in the PL.
Mousa Dembele if we can get him from spurs, another box to box but IMO better than McCarthy and Mo.

If we can't get Depay on loan then i'd try to get Rashford instead.

I expect RK and SW have completely different targets though.

5.) 22 Dec 2016 17:16:09
I don’t want any players on loan. I want quality committed players. Depay is a very good player but just not utilised by United, so too Sneiderlin.

As for others, I don’t know. I’d be surprised if there are any from what are being mentioned in the press at the moment and even more surprised if we got many at all in January. I’m braced for a busy summer rather than Jan and I expect additions early in the window.

It should be so much easier this summer with no international tournaments. Koeman will also have more than a couple of weeks with the players to get them used to systems and fitness. It took until mid-September due to the Euros to get his team fit never mind used to a system.

{Ed025's Note - good post that john and hard to argue with anything mate..

6.) 22 Dec 2016 18:10:25
I'd be happy with schneiderlin, depay and lookman in January.
No point buying a defender in January, if one gets injured throw Holgate in and watch him shine.
Begovic, attacking mid and a striker in the summer, bring in Davies and Calvert Lewis if we get injuries.

7.) 23 Dec 2016 09:59:45
I don't think there is any point talking about which 5 players we would like. It's a bit of a moot point. Realistically I think 2 ins (ideally both attacking) and 2 outs could happen, I'd also prefer the youngsters to get a run Holgate and I know Browning has recently come back from injury but I'd like to see him play more too.

Hi Ed - seems to me United have a few on the sidelines who's careers we could kickstart again if the right deal was available. Depay? Schneiderlin? Schweinsteiger? Mkhitaryan? What are your thoughts?

formbyjules

{Ed002's Note - If you think that Everton should give up on their own targets and pick up teh scraps from Manchester United then Depay would be possible - as he is being offered to Premier League clubs and he wants to stay in England (for the money).}

1.) 10 Nov 2016 12:12:25
Have to agree with ed002 on this RK's targets should be a priority. Some of the players may be in his thoughts maybe as backup loans should all else fail. After all MU do have some quality players that can't even get on the bench.

2.) 10 Nov 2016 16:46:54
Personally i'm not bothered where we sign players from as long as its right for us and improves our starting 11. I just hope everything is in place behind the scenes so come jan we know and sign whoever rk and co want/ need.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is anom that january is a notoriously hard window to buy players, and although i think we will make some signings it may not be the spending spree that some fans are expecting mate..

3.) 10 Nov 2016 19:45:40
I agree Ed025. I mentioned more or less the same in a post the other day. One maybe two signings if we're lucky. I'm on the same wavelength as Anomblue. If we signed 2 and they were right for us and improved the first 11 I'd be over the moon.

{Ed025's Note - me too mate..

4.) 11 Nov 2016 10:19:38
I imagine the number of signings will depend on the type of target. We would have more chance if the signings are players that are either at teams in the lower end of the top leagues or sitting on the bench at some of the higher profile clubs. I can't see us getting a super star in the Jan window without paying over the odds.

I don't really know enough about Gabbiadini to know of he is really that good or worth the money but I'd love to see us go gorgeous Arduriz from Athletic (amazing stiker) and test Real Madrid resolve to keep Kovacic (next Modric)

formbyjules

1.) 26 Aug 2016 08:54:56
Arduriz is good, but he's 35, maybe 36.

2.) 26 Aug 2016 09:06:22
Got to admit, would love to sign a young, good keeper (Leno, Horn) but Kovacic I think would be my dream signing (for now haha) . That'd be a statement signing.

3.) 26 Aug 2016 12:44:53
Gabbiadini has a golden left foot, that's for sure not many around!

4.) 26 Aug 2016 13:44:49
That would mean we have two main strikers who are left footed. Not very balanced is it.

5.) 26 Aug 2016 15:43:20
But you could say everton have 2 left feet in attack if we have a poor season.

This is an exciting new era for Everton and I'm pleased with the managerial appointment and Moshiri's ambition. My only concern with some of the names we are being linked with is their injury records. Krul has had a long term injury and Strootman too. Just hope we do proper checks on these guys fitness before lashing large transfer fees on them. That would be my only concern. What do you think Ed?

formbyjules

{Ed025's Note - medicals are very stringent these days jules and there are insurance policies for long term injuries so im not that concerned, i think its just nice to shopping with the big boys and not the bargain basement mate..

1.) 16 Jun 2016 16:40:06
as long as its not the same guy that did Gibsons medical eh Ed.

I honestly wouldn't mind letting Jags go and giving Holgate a run until the end of the season - then bring in someone over the summer if we need to. This window is a good time to offload older players when clubs are desperate. Sell only though - no loans. We aren't really playing for any trophies and catching the top 6 is a tall order but not impossible. I'd be tempted to give some of the kids a run out until the end of the season. See how they do.

I have to admit to worrying a little about this one but hey ho Walsh is the man - this is where we have to trust him to find the gems. Seems over priced to me I'd much rather have Berahino for that sort of money. Fingers crossed for some gems - Sigurdsson, Ben Arfa, Ilic, Dzagoev, Yarmalenko, Dolberg, what happened to Embolo?

Siggursdon would be class but i can't see them letting him go - alternatives with 1 year left on their contracts - Hatem Ben Arfa (PSG) oe Josip Ilic (Fiotentina) - both quality attacking mids.

formbyjules

{Ed002's Note - Neither of which are going to be moving to Everton I am afraid.}

Am i the only one slightly concerned about us buying older players without much shelf life in them. I am hoping Steve Walsh can unearth some unknown young gems in the Payet, Mahrez, Lanzini, Dembele mold. I don't really want us buying players over 30 unless they are cheap. Why the hell we weren't all over Dembele when he was leaving Fulham for £500k 6 months ago I have no idea! But is does show that there are real bargains out there if you know your stuff. If we are going to rebuild then let's do it properly and take our time and shift the dead wood and only bring in players that go straight into the 1st team, improve the squad OR are bright young prospects. On another note please structure contracts to incentivise players. Lower basic pay with decent results based add ons.

I think the whole Usmanov thing could be a way round financial fair play. He banks a deal so we have funds coming in to allow us to do what we need to do and at the same time adhere to FFP.

formbyjules

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}
