I said last night on here that I heard snippets that Koeman was going and now from what I am hearing is that EFC are very interested in Chris coleman - as they say do not shoot the messenger.

Was just thinking about maybe getting Coleman in, has done a great job for Wales, what does everyone else think?

{Ed025's Note - totally different ball game to managing in the prem oli...and has failed in the past...massive no for me mate..

2.) 23 Oct 2017 15:52:09
Not for me mate, Prems a different world to the odd international. Need someone who is use to winning things as a manager.

3.) 23 Oct 2017 17:15:05
I’d like Sean Dyche if that’s how u spell it!

4.) 23 Oct 2017 18:20:11
I wouldn't really want him myself to be honest, Silva would be my number one choice but I think he's too good a bloke to leave mid way through his first season. Unsy til Xmas see how he does think is the most sensible answer.

5.) 23 Oct 2017 19:16:23
Dyche is probably the best of the British managers and I think would work well with DU. However he is not proven in the upper division of the PL in terms of cups or euro qualification. His time will come I am sure but perhaps not with us. Apart from Dyche I would not go for a UK manager. I want us challenging for trophies and being a regular club in europe. For me it has to be a manager with good european experience with good man management abilities. Shame Koeman did not have all those qualities and I am sure he is not a bad manager. Just not sure the Dutch mentality suits the EPL. let's face it we do have some softies in the EPL who don't like being shouted at or told to buck up lol.

In all serious folks this is like Dejavou - martinez all over again.

Will score goals this season but defence tactics and defenders out of the window - expect a lot of high scoring games this year!

someone else on here said similar when Silva was appointed I. E. we may as well have kept Martinez because this fella is Martinez mark II. He will be off within two seasons, not the consistency mr Moshri is after I am sure.

First game of the season against Wolves who starts between Baines and Digne if both fit. I would have to say this new chap, would seem a waste if he is going to be understudy to Baines as the money could have been used elsewhere.

Haven’t seen much of Digne but that is the kind of game I’d look to bed him in with. Wolves won’t be a pushover and I reckon they’ll do quite well this year, but would rather the new lad cuts his team against them than having DeBruyne or Salah welcoming him to the prem.

Maybe a home game might be a better game to blood him.

Whats everyones thought on Pickford missing the last friendly we have coming up - I know he is due an extended break but I would have thought he would have definately played this next game - for confidence etc. if we do get any new defenders in between now and the first game hopefully communication between them won't be a problem.

There is talk of him extending his current contract but I hope these whispers of Chelsea possibly sniffing around does not turn his head.

Confidence? Did you see the World Cup?!?

heard something today about Schindler from Huddersfield town in regards to defenders - anyone heard about this.

Checked his stats and they seem ok - played plenty last season, 28 years of age - maybe a stop gap for the next couple of years.

Don’t think we need a 3rd choice left back pavillion.

2.) 30 Jul 2018 10:35:32
He's not top of my list of players we need.

Coleman words are a interesting read - it seems the players like Silvas ideas and training methods but what concerns me are the words that they have not brought these to the pitch. these are professional footballers who should be able to follow instructions ie lose the ball track back, get the ball wide etc

If they can't do it in pre season friendlies are they going to do it on match day in 2 weeks time - who knows.

we missed the boat a few years ago in replacing some of the defenders and now with the amounts of money being asked for certain players it seems we will have to do with what we have - I can't really see us spending another 50 mill on defenders at the moment ( and that is if there are any good ones left within that price )

Bout time Coleman was made captain.

i think it is obvious to all what we need - CB x 2 - I just hope now that after the last couple of results where we have shipped 10 goals in 3 games ( Pickford was not playing ) we push through at least 1 CB urgently - no more playing about - make an offer if not accepeted move on to the next target etc - IMHO this is getting rather desperate.

We play like we did last couple of games and yes we will score goals but you can bet your bottom dollar the opposition will out score us.

I understand we get fees etc for loaned players out but surely there comes a time when players like williams / Mirallas etc should just be released - no real sell on value - could be making up the players wages depending on the loan - same situation next season. if no sale on value just release the player and wash our hands off them.

{Ed025's Note - but its also no use just buying for the sake of it pavillion, they must be the right players mate...thats what got us in this mess in the first place..

GK position is not the problem and nor is batshuayi and loftus cheek the answer - we need quality defenders - other than Coleman and possibly Holgate the rest are too slow or too old.

Other than Pickford and possibly walcott / Lookman this team that played tonite will start the league in 2 weeks time - a disaster waiting to happen IMHO. the new lad played well again but with the obvious defence problems we are still lacking goals and the 2 players mentioned and no better than what we have - I am genuinley worried that if we do not pick up some points at the start of the season with a slightly easier start than last season we could be in for a long season.

The blame has too lie with Koeman and co as the amount of money spent last season was a complete waste ( pickford aside ) and we are now getting into a situation where we cannot keep spending money we don't have and honestly we do need to spend on defenders - a catch 22.

Our main asset at the moment is Pickford and possibly Lookman ( due to the purchase price ) once these are sold the squad as a whole has little sell on value - take klassen for example - lost 10mill there.

defeat was an excellent result for yourself - the travelling fans last night deserved better plain and simple - to be rolled over by blackburn was not acceptable - yes we know the team would be not at full strength last night and yes we should have scored but to be honest it was embarassing and diabolical at times.

We have been chasing according to the papers a couple of defenders for a week or so - get them in or move on I say. instead we splash millions on a player who by all accounts had a good game last night when we have plenty of players for this position.

I hear the same story everytime we get a new manager - will take time, its a project, a few transfer windows will be needed etc but if Silva does not get off to a good start the knives will be out unfortunately - that's football - a result business I am afraid.

I am quite worried with the defence we have at the moment as age and inexperience seems to be in abundance with this lot - Mori was not everyones cup of tea but with game time from his injuries he was a good sub to have ( he did play last season for about 100 mins I think )

The likes of Klassen can be sold as plenty of midfielders within the squad but defence has been shaky for quite a while now .

I don't think I could stick 3-3 every week - the nerves would be shot lol.

Good post - only question is if we hired Brands to find unpolished gems as you say wasnt Walsh to do the same as he had previous success and what happened to him - maybe we should have kept Walsh and saved some money.
