richie huyton

{Ed025's Note - very funny richie.. :(

2.) Its a good job we can have a laugh or we would go round the twist. we will be ok in the end.

ssn report it will cost us 11 million total to sign barry 2 million fee to city for last years loan and 9 million over a new 3 year contract.if we pay that we must be mad. were no ones last big pay day.

richie huyton

{Ed025's Note - i have to agree richie, that is far too much to pay for him..

1.) Not sure where the 2 million signing on fee comes from, if it's from Barry or his agent the F off. If it is to City I don't see how it can be true based on the fact his contract has expired so he is now not an employee of City.
As for the remaining money that works out at about 55k a week. About what I would expect him to demand to be fair in the current climate. However given his age 3 years is silly. 2 year deal 55k a week is 6 million over the 2 years.
I have made this point so often. Signing a player for 20 million is one thing, but if they are on a 4-5 year deal you can add another 10-12 million on to what it actually costs the club.

2.) I wouldn't take him for 3 years, but would definitely take him on a 2 year deal. If my calculations are correct (I have been up since 3.30am for work) then it works out at 57k a week. It does look a lot in total, but what you need to consider is what wages his replacement would be on. Also, how much would we have to pay to sign a replacement who is as good as him?

3.) Figures include wages for last season people seem to forget wages that go along with transfer fee. He wants 75k which is 25 k less than he was on at city a wage we payed in full last season.

Most 1st team at the club now earn 40/60k

The 2mill signing fee is nonsense.

4.) Yep if those figures are true let him go elsewhere

5.) Ok so if the above statments are correct then Barry is willing to take an aproximate 40% pay cut to play for us and some of you are still moaning. If you think that 60K pw is too much then that's fine that's your point of view, but don't slag the guy off for being greedy. IMO Barry would be able to take a pick of the clubs after him and ask for more than 60K pw and they would probably pay it. As Svenny quite rightly pointed out the only bone of contention is the so called 2M signing on fee. I would look at a 2 year deal with a possible 1 year extension but I would take a 3 year deal if its the only way we could get him.

6.) If that story is true spend it on a younger model I say. I would even question offering a two year deal never mind three. Lightening doesn't strike twice so to blessed with a second Silvan Distain ESQ player would indeed be very fortunate.

7.) 04 Jun 2014 12:33:32
Did any of you go to a game last season?
Barry was tremendous and certainly worth the money being hinted at.His experience in the middle of the park will be invaluable.

8.) I have worked it out at just under 69 grand p/w which is 9 grand above the amount I would be happy to seem on. As for the 2m signing on fee, that was pre-agreed in the loan agreement, that if he then goes to sign on a permanent basis for us as a free agent this summer that we have to pay compensation. This is because loaning Barry out to us could effectively be selling a player for a loan fee (if barry signed permanently) so city set up the deal to get something from it, which is fair enough. Although from first glance it does seem unfair to be paying the sum reported for a free agent. One thing to consider is the cost of replacing barry, and replacing him adequately. That would involve a bigger fee and wages which would not be too dissimilar to Barry's. I would try to cut of that 9 grand off these supposed wages and sign him on a two-year deal. But I believe a 3 year deal at 69 would not be pleasant, would not be a great deal, but would be necessary if any negotiations for a deal with different details failed. He has become a special player for us in one season in my opinion so even a costly deal may be a good one. I'm just glad that Roberto makes the call and me, because I'm confident he will make the right decision for the club regarding this deal, whether it appears to be or not.

9.) Couple of points here:

1) Barry was superb last year, a class act. Who doesn't rely on pace who has only once failed to play 30 games plus in around 16 seasons (no major injuries). He will also be a quality professional to have around to help bring the young lads through.

2) The numbers being thrown around is just media talk to try and make something look bigger than it is! The 2 million, will for me almost certainly be the loan fee paid last year to have him and not conected to cash we're throwing out here. Also as pointed out about the cash you'd need to replace his quality would at very very least be similar and a lot more of a gamble (see spurs shambles of a summer last year).

10.) He's 33 won't get any quicker, sorry but it's all down here from now. 2 year deal max.

11.) If the options are a 3 year deal or nothing I would take him in a heartbeat. One of our best players last season, and has a great partnership with McCarthy. Love the way everyone is going on about replacing him with a younger player. To sign a player of his calibre it would cost £15-20m in today's market, which would eat into our money for a striker, so unless you fancy Kone playing up front all season on his own then I suggest Barry is by far our best option. How much money do you people actually think we have to spend?

12.) The 3 year deal is a way to keep his wages in line with Everton wage structure and that's all!
He done enough last season to earn a deal who gives a sh@t how long it's for?
We moan when we don't spend the money then moan when we do.
Why have the press included Barry's wages in this deal they are quoting costa to Chelsea as £35 - £50 million but if you include his wages in you can at least treble that

It's said Mr downright is very loyal so Martinez has little to worry about the only people he seems to forget are the most loyal fans in the country we sell out are away allocation all the time.and still he refusers to listen to us.so in my opinion it's time to look to him for leadership and for once listen to thousands of LOYAL supporters.I will not be holding my breath.

Howard jags baines Distin kone hibbert Alcatraz osman eto pienaar Barry .all over 30.throw mcgeady and robles in .and most should not be any where near are club.please can anyone tell me why bobby or what was he gaining giving some of the players the contracts he did.a badly ageing squard.unless something is changed quickly ie players who are not good enough shipped out.we need young hungry players people who will come off the pitch look in the mirror and say to themselves I gave 100%.sick and tired off players wailking around.but then again how do you motivate multi millionaires.

richie huyton

1.) To be fair an awful lot of the blame lies at Martinez feet. Barkley is not a DM but a very effective AM and Roberto not on the wing you person. Baines is an effective wing back or LM he is not a CM Roberto you person. Your unbelievable arrogance is going to end up with the demise of this great Clubs Premiership membership. And you Mr Kenwright, where is your input.

2.) 04 Jan 2015 01:01:36
Fully agree with that richie, we need to ship out those who are not giving their wahe worth and replace with those who want the chance to play for our club, whether that be promoting within such as browning, green and ledson or replacing with other available players. I'm not too concerned with jags or even howard (as a back up keeper) but to move forward we need a 1st team quality keeper (begovic would be my 1st choice), a centre half to the same dicipline as jags or distan a few years ago, preferably in mid 20's, 2 wingers, preferably delufeou and konoplyanka. Barry, distan and 2 existing wingers need to be far from our 1st team, shipped out or retired if possible. Thereby leaving a squad of:-
Gk. Begovic, Howard
Rb. Coleman, Browning
Cb. Stones, Jags, New Cb
Lb. Baines, Garbutt
Dm. Besic, McCarthy
Cm Barkley, Ledson, Osman
Rw. Mirallas, Delefeou
Lw. Knoplyanka, Green (Although likened for a cm role, I feel may develop into a sheedy type winger)
cf. Lukaku, Kone, Etoo, Naismith.
Playing a 4 3 3 (1 defensive mid and not full running full backs should shore up the defense while operating still as an attacking unit) Half the goals we have conceeded is due to full backs being out of position, teams counter attacking this particular weakness and barry/distan/mc carthy not being fast enough to replace the player in a more advanced position and also not able to defend against on rushing attacking threats. This I believe is why we need to ditch the full out attacking 4231 which becomes 2 centre backs 2 centre mids trying to defend against teams, where j mac and barrys natural positions are midfielders and not full backs we are being caught out. Back to basics of if we are attacking down the left, the left winger, left back and right winger are involved in the attack, likewise if attacking down the right wing, the right back, right winger and left winger are involved in the attack. My starting line up would be Gk begovic rb coleman lb baines cb stones, new cb/ jags, dm besic, cm barkley McCarthy, lw knoplyanka, rw mirallas, cf lukaku. Plenty of ability both going forwards and defensively, very little players over 30, enthusiastically permitting youth and energy into the team (particularly in midfield where it is needed) pace and trickery on the wings and with that attacking football across the front line rather than sideways and backwards possesion football. Those signings would not cost too much but could make the important impact needed to drive us forward into the new year. Would never have thought I would have said this a season or 2 ago, but the sooner Stones is back in the team rather than distan, the better, likewise besic rather than barry, 2 over 30's who I feel are more intersted in their own ego's & salary than E.F.C.

3.) Good post that Craig. I agree and like the look of those signings. Reality however.

Osman was awful as were the two centre backs no more Passengers please roberto I have been critical of osman in the past but everyone must agree he is now totality out of his depth and if he bobby Carrys on playing Ozzie we will suffer he is getting totally overrun

richie huyton

{Ed025's Note - im with you richie, im a fan of leon, but today he was very poor..

1.) Our lack of command in the air at the back, was there all last season, at 6.4 and with good reports about his perfomances on loan, it must be time to see if duffy can perform at the top level!

Swans right ed, imo and with no knowledge to this just a gut feeling. I don't think lukaku will sign. I also think a time scale should now be put in place or this could go right down to the wire and end up going badly wrong.remember dithering davie last year. cost him his job and Manchester United a top 4 finish. again this can change very quickly the sooner the better.

richie huyton

{Ed025's Note - we have got to stay positive richie, i know it looks like we are stagnant in the market, but work is going on behind the scenes, i do agree that chelsea are messing us about though mate..
