team i would play on sat and reasons people may disagree but its just my opinion:

Howard(our best GK)
Neviile(handles the pressure of big games)
Heitinga(well what can i say... World Class!)
Distin(Has pace and is solid)
Baines(Best LB in the country)
Osman(Gives us some creativity)
Gibson(Unbeaten with him in the team and gets best out of fellaini)
Fellaini(Best midfielder we have, and wont give liverpool a inch in the middle)
Drenthe(really think we should play him because he will trouble jones with his long shots)
Cahill(Liverpools nightmare)
Jelavic(Best striker we have and can see him getting a goal) {Ed025's Note - sounds good to me mate..

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Spot on for me fella, should put your name to that post though as it looks like you have some sense

I was going to tweak and tinker with this ...
However it does look good ...
And great summary notes too ;)

Osman never really plays well against the s**te. and Gueye has looked good when he has played, so i would play him instead of Osman, other than that looks a good team mate

Looking forward to Saturday now, but will say this, it wont be easy, Liverpool always turn up for the derby and now they'll have their 3rd keeper out we must test him, because the last derby I can't remember many chances, if we can't create them it doesn't matter who's in goal. Bring your A game on sat lads and I'm sure we'll turn them over.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

10 Apr 2012 22:00:12
Hopefully that was carolls last goal of season. Saturday is going to be a tough one but I have to say Blackburn didn't look up to much so hard to judge. I think liverpools 3rd goalie looks a bit dodgy. Lets get after them. 1 nil will do. Come on the blues.

Jones should of been sent off for that push on whoever it was!

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Absolutely right, it was a goalscoring opportunity as no defenders were in site and the ref booked him???? King Kenny would have had to go in goal on Saturday if he would have gotten sent off.

id start wit drente cus wembley is a big pitch and his pace could do alot of damage

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Yeh Id start with Drenthe....his face can do a lot of damage.

Guys it doesnt matter who you start or finish with....your playing Liverpool at a difficult time for them, 2 goalies red carded which means only one thing...

No one will get near Jones cos everyone will protect him and they will play like men possessed....plus of course we will have Suarez, Gerard, Agger, Skrtyl, Johnson, Enrique

Who knows maybe Jones will a do a dudek and Gerard gets his first Wembley hat trick ?

Would jordan rhodes be a good signing for us. Seen him a few times and looks very shape and a clinical finisher. Worth a gamble i reckon. {Ed003's Note - I agree,but the price might be to much of a gamble if you get me}

my team for semi. Howard Hibbo rb neville lb jags and jonny. Solid defence is needed. Midfield. Baines lw osman right felli and gibson in centre. Cahill behind jelly man. This team is needed as Liverpool Will try to get at us down the flanks. This is where we lost both derbys this year. Plenty of attacking options still with baines and osman and drenthe / gueye from the bench.

I'll be very interested to see if this weakened RS side can do to Blackburn what our 2nd team did to Sunderland. Very unlikely.

I am very excited about our squad right now as there seems to be healthy competition, and they are all performing.

It's funny that not many posters are shouting about Ross Barkley who I agree is a talent, but on reflection we were a bit desperate earlier in the season when things weren't going our way.

Getting back to tonight's game I am sure DM will watching the RS keeper Doni to see of there is anything that can be exploited. And how worried must queen kenny be to rest gerrard and shurgar.

Bring on Saturday. COYB

If I were Moyes on Saturday I'd set up exactly the same as we did against Sunderland in the quarter final. Get in their faces from the off and play football against them.I'll be watching the Barca game tonight but keeping an eye on the Blackburn game as well. Hope their squirrel faced number 7 gets sent off. COYB and FTRS.

i think it will be 2-0 Baines penalty and jelavic tap in

24 howard
18 neville (C)
5 heitinga
15 distin
3 baines
10 drenthe
25 fellaini
4 gibson
21 osman
17 cahill
7 jelavic

subs 19 gueye, 23 coleman, 6 jagielka, 26 rodwell, 28 anichebe, 1 mucha

i think drenthe will start because of experience over gueye but hes still young and im sure he will get a decent chunk of time {Ed025's Note - i really hope thats the side we put out..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He will play hibbert against downing

Brilliant stuff yesterday from the boys, Gueye is looking more an more confident and comfortable on the ball. Gutted Peanuts is cup tied.

My starting 11 would be

Howard

Hibbert
Heitinga
Distin
Baines

Gibson
Fellaini
Osman
Cahill
Gueye

Jelavic

A tough call between Gueye and Drenthe, but Drenthe coming on for the last 30 minutes gives us a lot of pace and trickery against a slow Liverpool team. Really loving reading the confidence that everyone has, just pray to god it doesn't backfire on us. I shall be keenly watching the RS tonight (a one off i promise), and hoping that Gerrard and Goofy B*llocks pick up injuries.

2-1 Everton

Alastair

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Apart from Neville in for Hibbo, I reckon your team will be spot on. BlueTone

Agree0 Disagree0

That should be the team, that's the creme de la creme! Drenthe on after 60 mins to add threat and super sub Anichebe towards the end for the closing goal.

3-1 - Jellyman, Cahill and Anichebe - Gerrard.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would prefer Neville to Hibbert too. Agree with that team otherwise though. I've just got a worry that Moyes will go for Jagielka instead of Heitinga. Hope I'm wrong {Ed025's Note - its nev for me as well mate..he was outstanding against sunderland..

Well its nearly here, the big one, we've all been waiting for, I am very excited but also nervous, we are in great form and the RS are not but that does not matter, we will have to still be on top form to get through, stop gerrard and suarez and that should be enough, Our coach is leaving at 4am so we can soak a few hours of the atmosphere before kick off, cant wait for this one, I was at sunderland away for the quarters and the atmosphere was electric the whole game, come on boys, lets sing our hearts out again and get the boys to the final....my team for semi-final

howard, baines, distin, heitinga, neville, drenthe, gibson, fellaini, osman, cahill, jelavic.....

any eds going to the match?

can i have some predictions and starting elevens off regular posters please....

Im going for 2-1 to everton in the 90 mins

BATTO EFC

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Batto mate, I can't fault your side. Although I'm not sure Moyse trusts Drenthe enough to start him with so much at stake I'm
Going for a very nervous 1-0 to us of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Moyes will start Gueye instead of Drenthe and I agree with you on the score batto
Toffeeboy

Agree0 Disagree0

Geuye in for Drenthe. He's played himself in to the starting line-up. BlueTone

Agree0 Disagree0

I pretty much picked the same team although again went with Mags instead of Drenthe who is on my bench.
Subs wise Mucha, Jags, Hibbo, Straq, Drenthe, Big Vic, Coleman.

As for Felli man marking Gerrard do we not need to change our thinking and let other teams worry about how to negate our players, perhaps the RS are thinking Gerrard needs to man mark Felli and Agger needs to pick up Jelly.

For them to live in our shadow we need to think the right way about ourselves before we can expect others to think that way.
I am still nervous about the weekend but this could be the begining of something special.

COYB IMWT

Big C {Ed0e25's Note - i agree big c..

Agree0 Disagree0

That's right Big C. If we sart well out of the blocks then steeevvveee geeee will be forced to defend and that will have him worrying about what we are doing more than playing his own game.

Our boys have earned the right to force the issue and worry the opposition. Let's go into the game to win it. And let them worry about us not us them. COYB

Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - spot on ace!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from Drenthe your starting 11 will be as you have predicted. I think Gueye will come in on the left and Osman to the right, or Moyes may even play Coleman right and Gueye left?
I'd prefere Gueye on the left and Osman right with Drenthe to come on for 25-30 minutes, he changes games but is too unpredictable from the start.

form goes out the window in the derby but as we all know the red s**te should be shaking we beat a team with are Reserves 4-0 who they got beat by 1-0
imagine what jelavic could do to doni we should get a 2-0 Jelavic and Anichebe

.........................Howard....................................
Hibbo.......distin.............heitinga..............baines....
.......................................................................
osman.....felliani.............gibson...............gueye.....
..................cahill...............................................
...........................jelavic....................................

felliani will keep gerrard quiet and suarez will go no where near heitinga, distin will have him off with pace play the ball down the right wing they will crumble with jelavic and cahill going for headers and let gibson have a pop now and again ps (test doni from the off he is s**t at diving into corners)

Does anyone know whats happened to vellios? He looked like he was coming good... Surprised he wasn't in the team yesterday, he hasn't been in the squad in months and he is scoring in the reserves constantly! He will be gone at the end of the season I think! Same with Joao Silva...

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Apparently Moyes hasn't been a fan of his attitude or something like that.

I too am disappointed not to see Vellios given a go, really looked like a decent player in his sub appearances, personally don't think he is ready to start games, but he should be getting some game time

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes still only young, im sure we will use him next season

Agree0 Disagree0

I could well believe Moyes not liking his attitude.
I went to a game at the beginning of the season and my little brother and my dad were waiting for the players to come out the cars Vellios got out his car and shouted "no autographs please!!" and walked past everyone! thought he was a superstar, while the likes of Cahill, Heitinga, Distin, Neville, Osman etc all stopped! haha everyone was like "who was that lad who walked past and shouted no autographs! ha

We only have to man mark Gerard on Saturday with fellaini and its game over the reds**te must be shaken in there boots at are form at the moment the only way they have got a chance on Saturday is if they have twelve men like at goodison when we was battering them then Suarez done his usual diving mind you if he doesn't do it Gerard Carroll etc will do it on Saturday because as everyone knows in the Prem lfc are cheats ram it down queen kennys throat on Saturday moysey and also finish higher than them in the league and evertonians drown the kops**tes out at wembley rip lfc its over {Ed025's Note - it will be a very hard game...but if we play to our recent standards...we will win..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

You know it won't be that simple, we need to keep our defensive shape and block the one-twos between Gerard and Suarez. Also, Agger is back so we have to keep an eye on him - but if we play football like we can then we should win.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am as worried as very worried thing in a bag of worried things that are very worried! I won't relax until I know it's over and we've done our job. I am also keeping very quiet in work, just in case it all goes horribly wrong. The only thought that keeps me from completely flying to pieces is that maybe the RS are worrying about how to contain us and thinking Gerrard should man mark Felli and the Suarez needs to drop back and defend with the rest of the team. If times are changing then maybe we need to think about our own perception of us, I think our modest, humble , respectful approach is very Everton FC, however maybe just maybe the others need to worry about us!

Big C (no finger nails left already) EFC

ps Ed are we going with Degsy's suggestion of putting your club after your post? {Ed025's Note - i have put that to the top brass big c...on everton, all i can say is..enjoy it mate! there are not many times in our recent past that we can say we are the better side, but we are, so lets just go with the flow and see what happens..

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Apr 2012 03:31:34
Ed, have you heard anything about a move for Clint Dempsey? A lad on twitter who has 40K followers, and is known for his transfer news (Fourth_Official) seems to think we are lining up a deal for Dempsey, his contract runs out next summer I believe.

Personally, the way Dempsey has performed this season, scored 21 goals in all comps this season, and currently scored 13 in 15 games, I think he would be a tad out of reach. But nevertheless, I will have my fingers crossed, would be an unbelievable signing.

Still struggling to cope with the thought of potentially seeing Jealvic with Dempsey in behind. {Ed025's Note - he would be a great addition mate, but like you i feel that some bigger fish feel the same..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Apr 2012 01:52:47
Don't get why the majority of everton fans dont want us to keep drenthe. He does need to up his overall game but is only young so has plenty of time also look at stevie p he took a while to really settle in when he came and now is arguably 1 of if not are best player atm and if it doesn't work out sell him at the end of next season we would only need to get the cost of his wages so there would be no problem in finding a buyer. To me it's a no brainer

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I would like to see him stay, but I don't think Moyes is the biggest fan of Drenthe, and I think Drenthe will leave in the summer sadly. {Ed025's Note - he needs to grow up quick if we are to keep him!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldnt agree more...drenthe is class and under moyes guidance he will be great

Agree0 Disagree0

Its awin win situation if he doesnt improve we sell him for millions
