Just as Important as 3pts sat - we need to get our goal difference up 5-0 would help!

I agree we could do with a big win Saturday, it won't be a easy game and can't take any game for granted (Wigan) but with other tough games coming up yes we can beat arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea and get top four but only by the odd goal and we are a few goals behind spurs on good so QPR us a opportunity to get goals. A couple of early goals will do the trick to get us going. It won't be easy QPR are fighting for survival but think if we can beat them it might seal Harry's fate of relegation.

ed how much would our budget this season excluding the sale's Pakistani Blue {Ed025's Note - pretty decent i would think mate, taking into account the tv money, and maybe the imminent departure of felli, it looks like it could be a very decent war chest..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would imagine it would be 8-10 mil plus about 80% of sales, but that's just guesswork

Agree0 Disagree0

Might sound stupid but we should have about £40m. £10m + felli sale (£30m).

I was talking to a guy today in southport and we where talking about the land in southport and having a nice chat then he slipped into the conversation that he went drinking with Billy Bingham he said do you no him and I said yes I had heard of him. He said I take it your a blue and I said yes he said about alex young and roy vernon and he said I used to play for everton once so I said oh yeah thinking youth team but he said ask your dad if he heard of Tony Kay. He continued to tell me about alex yyoung howard kendall graeme sharp and duncan ferguson. so like I say a very chatty guy. Then I ask him about moysie about hi moving on and went quiet and changed the subject. we didn't say much after that. make

Of it as you will but he seemed very coy about it.

Thanks phil

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Tony Kay was banned for life following a betting scandal, according to my dad

Agree0 Disagree0

Wiki backs up your post AJ: Anthony Herbert Kay (born 13 May 1937 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire)[1] is a former English footballer who became notorious after being banned from the professional game for life following the British betting scandal of 1964.
Born in Sheffield, Kay played for Sheffield Wednesday before becoming Britain's most expensive footballer when transferred to Everton for £60,000 in 1962. Kay was capped once for England, scoring a goal in his debut match against Switzerland which England won by 8 goals to 1 in Basle.

I wonder why millionaires like Whelan and Madejski want tributes to Thatcher at his weekend's matches? No sarky answers are required thanks - my question is obviously rhetorical and self-explanatory.
No way can our club's consistent & heartfelt support of the JFT96 campaign be contaminated by any public tribute to her at our match. We don't want politics in our sport - but we sure as hell do want justice.
Once a blue, always a blue - but that's an Everton blue, not a Tory blue!

Believable3 Unbelievable4

What on earth does Margaret Thatcher have to do with the Hillsborough enquiry?
I'm a blue of both varieties, I'm working class and proud of it but I have enough brains to look at the issues and judge people based on what I see and not what others say.
If a club owner wants to show some respect for somebody they respect that is surely up to them.
If Arthur Scargill dies and you want to hold a parade in respect I may raise a quizzical eyebrow but I will respect your right to do so.

Popeye {Ed025's Note - a lot of people suspect she knew of the cover up by the police, but chose to sweep it under the carpet popeye, i know its a conspiracy theory, but it does sound plausible mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently North Korea is a socialist paradise for anyone unhappy with capitalism - but bare in mind the football is crap as their stars get paid same as leader boys hairdresser - so they don't practice much and they put no effort in - same as the hairdresser

Funny how we all hate rich people but do the lottery every week after idolising our own favourite millionaires down at goodison

Agree0 Disagree0

That is just the sort of low brow tosh I expect from most Tories - high on opinion and low on substance. Thatcher treated all football fans with contempt and doesn't deserve a show of respect at any football match. {Ed025's Note - ding dong..

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see the point of all the fuss really, she's dead, its not going to matter to her one way or the other.

Agree0 Disagree0

She treated all who did not buy the tory lies with utter contempt, may she rot in hell

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Thatcher did actually treat all football fans with contempt. As I for one know she had the upmost respect for the members of the armed forces and funnily enough some of us are actual football supporters.
Is that high on opinion and low on substance.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Apr 2013 00:17:28
Is right Ed, ding person dong.
@ the second poster, capitalism may have its merits but what Thatcher introduced was Corporate Fascism. Put that comment on the conspiracy site and I will give you a history lesson you person.

( my apologies Ed but I'm 48 and I remember all of it, she despised football and its supporters, I had to reply) {Ed001's Note - just to let Popeye know, his post has not been deleted, just left for Ed025 to reply himself if he wishes. Oh and as a moderator, he has no need to show respect for those who showed no respect, dead or alive. Not that it is your place to tell us what to do anyway.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Really getting fed up with all the sweeping statements. When did Thatcher treat "all football fans with contempt"? Was this another story your dad told you and swallowed as fact without bothering to find out for yourself? Ed25, you should be ashamed of yourself, regardless of your political leanings a person has died and as moderator you should show a bit more respect.

Popeye {Ed025's Note - its all about opinions mate, you have yours, and i have mine...being a moderator does not mean i cannot express my views, and i will give her the same respect as i will attilla the hun, saddam hussain, and adolf hitler....matter closed..

Agree0 Disagree0

I just want to reply to Ed01 who seems to feel that not only do moderators have the right to disrespect people they have never met but that it is not "my place" to question this.

The moderators are there to facilitate the use of this forum, they are there to ensure that people have their say in a reasonable way and that they follow whatever rules are in place.

They are not there to disparage dead individuals (even individuals who may have polarised opinion as much as Mrs Thatcher did). They are certainly not there to tell forum users that it is not their place to question any remarks they may find distasteful.

I have been a moderate poster on this board for over a year and have read it for a lot longer and your views on this subject have been unbalanced and over indulgent. I cannot believe you are abusing your role in this way.

Popeye {Ed001's Note - moderators roles are whatever I tell them to be. Funny how people only ever whine about them when their views are not the ones they have. You were quite happily using this board while Ed025 was clearly biased towards Everton, yet now you suddenly claim claim they should be balanced. Give it a rest. If you want to make decisions on what moderators should be, start your own site. Then you can tell as many people as you want what to do. If you are going to use someone else's site, then you will have to grow up and learn to accept that it is not up to you what they do. Nothing Ed025 has put has been abusive, nor has it abused his role, you don't even know what his role is, obviously.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Popeye should just go out & buy the last 3 copies of the Daily Mail. He can then surround himself with views, like his own, that Thatcher was some kind of mother-like saviour of this country. OK, she might have made the country better off financially, but morally, she damn near bankrupted us. Her views promoted greed, selfishness & an almost junkie-like worship of money. She destroyed lives, families & communities, (nearly all in the north!) I lived through her years in power & the feeling of sheer despair & hopeletvess was one I hope never to feel again.
Oh yes, & her barely disguised contempt for Merseyside & its inhabitants was unforgiveable. In a way, I hope some of these millionaire Tory club chairmen do try to impose a minute's silence at this weekend's matches. Then they might get just some inkling of how despised that woman was by ordinary people! Rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gents his is now becoming a bit personal. I know the subject is very emotive but at the end of the day it should not cause rifts between fellow blues. I persoanaly total disagree with Ed 25s comments but as it rightly pointed out he has every right to express his opinion. As for him being a moderator holding these views is of no matter, as long as he does not impose his views by selectively choosing what to post and what not to post. This in my opinion he has not done as I have seen both sides of the argument being posted.

SA90

Agree0 Disagree0

Why discuss politics on a football site? Also what's wrong with being a Tory blue? That's the same as someone making prejudice remarks about black Evertonians. I hope the Eds do not condone prejudice towards political groups especially when the group they speak makes up the vast proportion of the nations current government and are the most popular political party in England (note, England. Not Wales and Scotland). We are not talking about fascism here. It's conservative politics, which Is deemed socially acceptable in politics. The left has created an environment of OTT political correctness in this country. Well, let's see it adhered to when talking about the other side. Speak ill of Tatcher, but don't anyone insinuate that a 'Tory blue' has any less of a right to exist than anyone else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thatcher was only able to do what she did because she was put in power by the people. The majority of the country put her there so ask yourself why? Was it because the country at the time was in such a sate that the people had had enough? I personally blame the unions if it wasn't for them being so greedy then she would not have got anywhere near PM. You reap what you sow. Funnily enough hardly any of the policies her government put in place have been removed or reversed. So can we please get back to football related issues and the mighty Blues!!" {Ed001's Note - that is incorrect, the majority of people don't vote, so couldn't have put her there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

ED001 official stats for the 1997 election.

Majority – 43
PM Margaret Thatcher
Held on Thursday, 3 May
Electorate – 41, 093, 264
Turnout – 76% {Ed001's Note - which is less than THE majority, is it not? The majority voting for her would be over 50% of the population, she didn't even get 50% of the vote.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 sorry to tell you but the poster is correct the estimated UK population in 1979 was 56m the electorate roll shows 41m with a 76% turn out which is 31m which means that the majority of the country did actually vote in the election. Thatcher only got 44% of the vote but there has never been a party with over 50% of the vote since 1945

SA90 {Ed001's Note - no he is not, she did not get the majority of the vote at all, that is simply a lie. She got a majority, not THE majority, it is a very massive distinction between the two.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloody hell! My original post certainly hit a raw nerve. The passion of the respondents is commendable IMHO, as long as it's not delivered in an abusive manner. The debate has certainly shown that people do care. I don't agree with many of the views expressed, but I absolutely support the freedom of the posters to speak their minds - as long, to repeat myself, it's not abusive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster No. 5 - Yes. She may have have a lot of respect for the Armed Forces and the Police come to that, but she was only too willing to tar all football supporters as hooligans and actively agitated for the European ban. Not to mention the way she ignored Taylor's findings about the conduct of the South Yorkshire Police. So yes, your comments are without substance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 I was replying to your comment that the majority of the people don't vote not that Tatcher got the majority of the people to vote for her which no polotician since 1945 has. Should have been more specific

SA 90 {Ed001's Note - no worries, I know I made an error there too.}

These recent stories about Jelavic "considering his future" might have some truth in them, but whatever their veracity it's not helpful to see them aired in public rather than being dealt with inside the club. No doubt an agent and his media cronies are involved. As for some of our fans slamming Jelavic for his lack of goals this season - of course it's disappointing compared to last season, but he's had injuries and he's always put a shift in and he's never hidden.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I would just ask all those criticising jelavic for his lack of goals this season to just think for a minute, and ask to why, and what's different from, let's say jan last year when he signed and was banging in goals for fun nearly every one with his first touch, to this season were he's struggled to make double figures.

Dave EFC {Ed025's Note - 2-0 for me dave...ossie,+ felli..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

5-0. QPR are absolutely crap. Good riddance when they are relegated. Hopefully they do a Portsmouth.

Mike {Ed025's Note - you do say what you feel mike..i like that mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit harsh that Mike would not like to see them go down the same road as Portsmouth, they nearly went out of existence it is not the fan's fault mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

QPR fans cheered Zamora for being sent off, and booed Jordi Gomez for being kicked in the face!

Agree0 Disagree0

AJ, I am sure a section of fan's don't speak for them all you cannot tare them all with the same brush mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not so much the fans Stef. It's the owner and Harry 'triffic' Redknapp who do my head in. They have thrown money away on players like it is going out of fashion. Samba £12 million and £100k pw. Really? Rob Green £50k pw and then a just a week later getting Julio Cesar on £80k pw. Boswinga £65k pw. Remy £80k pw etc etc.
If they think that is the way to run a football club (whose stadium is a massive 18, 500), then they deserve to do a Portsmouth.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that is how you feel Mike I will respect that but don't agree with them going in to ruins. I will agree if they get relegated well that is football I will have no sympathy for them, but as far as doing a Portsmouth no.

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel sorry for the owner, he did his part and was a willing spender, unfortunately he hired complete people who absolutely wasted his money, could've done with Fernandes at Everton.

Wonder if he will stick by them in the Championship, if not, they could be well and truly screwed considering the amount of wages these players are on.

We won't go back in for Fer, Moyes doesn't go back in for people that we don't actually sign. He moves on. Where's Ojija-Ofoe?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Odjidja-Ofoe was a last minute thing, he was a last resort and we had no money so it made sense.

In January we had a bit of cash and we went after much better options, such as Capoue, M'Vila and Fer, unfortunately none of them panned out. But I expect Moyes to be after Fer or maybe even Capoue should he be affordable.

Just to clarify the position on a 6 th place finish with regards Europa league qualification, the only way this can happen is if Chelsea win the FA cup and finish outside top 4, a lot of people seem to be asking the question so thought I would post

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be precise, there is another route into the UEFA Europa League, which is via the UEFA Fair Play Table, but there's surely no way we'd qualify for that this season - or any season come to that - given our record of yellow and red cards and the other criteria for ranking!

Ed where has the Svenny post gone of the rumours page regarding a possible takeover {Ed025's Note - i dont know mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I imagine sources of the information being named individuals - or their relatives - with top-level Everton connections was deemed not only disloyal (if true), but also bordering on defamatory (if untrue). Either way, those "named" would have been unhappy I reckon. This maybe a rumours website - and naming sources generally laudable - but that level of detail was very surprising. If I was involved in takeover negotiations, I'd keep my mouth shut to outsiders and expect my negotiating team to do likewise. If someone in my family, who might not be involved but might get an inkling, spoke out of turn, I'd be furious about that also. My feeling is that leaked information is just that: information leaked deliberately via the media, usually by third parties, in order to benefit someone's negotiating stance - be it about takeovers, transfers, renewed contracts, etc. , etc.
