Lads I feel an opportunity has been missed. I see Batshuayi has gone out on loan. I feel if Everton had pursued that I think we would have been a top 4 threat. Ah well what's done is done. I'm so looking forward to the season. Much hope for the future.

From what I've heard he wanted to go abroad. Also Valencia in European competition.

Much as I would have loved to have him though, I think we needed the central defense strengthened and I think Zouma will prove to be the better signing for us.

Like you, looking forward to the new season

We can't loan two people from a team, so it would mean no Zouma.

11 Aug 2018 07:54:18
i personally think tosun is better than him, certainly more suited to the prem, what has michy done in the prem except sit on Chelsea bench? no doubt he a good player just think tosun is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 08:26:21
Think you could be right on Tosun. The lad did okay when he came in and settled, particularly as most of the time he had to go and fetch the ball himself. The Team now has a new dynamic (once they are all gelled) , so Tosun will be fed.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 09:11:37
I'm happy with Tosun, I agree he has not let us down and has an eye for goal, but would have liked Batshuayi as an option or cover for injuries. That being said we have Richarlison who can play centrally or we could bring Walcott in from the wing and have Bernard or Lookman cover for him

We also have Dominic Calvert Lewin who doesn't deserve to be forgotten

Suddenly we have a plethora of options, all strong

Does anyone know if Rui Patricio is allowed to play tomorrow? I'm sure I read that his previous side have reported Wolves for the way they signed the player and I was wondering who owns his registration.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2018 23:20:31
I’m sure that would have been mentioned in the build up. They’ll have a lot of debutants. Let’s hope it takes them a while to gel!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 08:28:34
Make no bones about it, Wolves are a very good side. Watched them a few times last Season and they reminded me a little of our 80's side.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they are not a bad side DFS but that was the championship and this is the big time, they like us have brought in a lot of players and it will depend on how and when they integrate them into their side, two teams in transition i would say and my prediction is 1-1 mate..

11 Aug 2018 08:56:50
Wouldn't like to predict the score Ed. I am on the side of those that think/ say it will be 5 or 6 games before we see a Silva side emerging.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe a bit more than that even DFS..

10 Aug 2018 19:34:46
The positions I wanted to be addressed were adressed in this window. Last season I was figurig out whos playing where. Good stuff.

10 Aug 2018 18:49:31
See Owen has joined In the EFC only 7th again crew must be worrying him thompson merson only 4 years ago It was the big 4 once LFC dropped out of that group and spurs who have had 3 seasons in the top 6 they are now the elite and the 4 became 6 so they can accommodate the last 2 mentioned well I hope we make the top 6 and listen to the whinging sky sport pundits making the excuses for the ones who miss out being unlucky because obviously we will have not deserved to.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

10 Aug 2018 20:07:50
To be fair this is yet again a transition season (hopefully the last for a few seasons - that is if Silva goes against his own grain of moving on every couple of seasons) , ergo we should not be expecting a highter finish than 7th at best.

Agree0 Disagree2

10 Aug 2018 23:21:53
One word.
Leicester!
Who expected them to win the league?
It happens.

Right manager, right players, right tactics. who knows?
As for the top 6, I think there'll be a few surprises there.
Arsenal, Chelsea, man Utd are not the same teams and 2 have new managers and 1 might have no manager soon.

We are clearly owned by a chairman who has very big ideas for us and is showing his intent so let them write us off and with them squirm when we get back up there.

Agree0 Disagree1

10 Aug 2018 17:15:44
With the squad taking shape now, i have been reading a few web pages to see what out midfield would likely be. Most sites have us for a 4-3-3. Defence pretty common. Coleman, Mina, Zouma/ Keane, Digne.
Up top. Walcott, Tosun, Richarlson.
But midfield, a lit have, Sig, Gomes and Bernard as the 'number 10'.
Would this not leave us to open, even with the attacking options phenomenal, or like me, do you think Gueye needs to be there to even things out. Other views would be appreciated.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Aug 2018 18:06:33
For me personally I would enjoy us trying to score more than we concede
I'm sick of 2/ 3 defensive midfielders in a game
Let's just go pure attack
Entertainment value would sky rocket
I've been bored rigid by our defensive mindset for years
Just go for it.

Agree3 Disagree1

10 Aug 2018 19:19:22
One holding / DM for me and Gana is the star man for me in that position. As for how the attack lines up, well that's become an embarrassment of riches.

Bernard reported to play 11 and 10. Even though I've also read he can play RW too.

Richarlison apparently the same. Across the front 3 positions.

Walcott is RW but will he start? He can play up top too? Would be a total culture shock style of footie but he's capable.

Tosun is our 9 straight up and down, no doubts. Niasse is super sub 9.

DCL and Lookman and hopefully Dowell will become mainstays of the bench and the cliche league cup run.
You've got to add the now perilously positioned Davies to a bench spot.

Sorry but I've not even researched who or what Gomes is. I think he's a CMid? Anyway he's going to have quality right? Barcelona don't pay 40 mil euros for a turd.

Sig will surely (as already written in the press) player deeper with my opinion of Gana as anchor. Does that mean Silvas favoured 4 3 3 is replaced with a 3 5 2 or even 3 4 3 like Wolves play?

I guess we can look at it like Fat Sam and moan we still have too many players in the same position or be positive, and state we're one flexible machine?

It's going to be another positive to a rainy Saturday afternoon than the boredom when last season's team sheets were announced.

Be great to see who makes the grade and cements their positions in the match day squad.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Aug 2018 19:31:23
I agree MYTEAM. Horses for courses probably. Yes Dowell is getting pretty close to 1st team action. He has the ability to score from outside the box too, so that is also a benefit. We need to have the patience that I am pleased is being discussed because although we do have some quality signings, a team takes time to gel together. We may not start as well as some of us hope.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Aug 2018 20:10:49
Kingo don't know why but have a feeling he (Silva) will persist with Schneiderlin as the DM lynchpin. Successive Managers and now it seems even Silva have stuck with Schneiderlin despite what some of us think. The lad must be showing stuff on the training pitch that we do not know about.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 21:34:08
Sigs will play deeper next to a DM either Gana or Gomes and Bernard will be number 10. Sigs can dictate the play from deeper and play the balls across the front 4 of Bernard, Tosun, Walcott and Ricky and what a thought that is.

This has to be the best transfer window we have ever had. If you look at the quality of the players we have brought in it is such a massive upgrade. Plus the fact we will play a completely different brand of football now it is exciting times. If a couple of the 'big 6' have disappointing seasons I think us and West Ham will be ready to capitalise. Good times let's enjoy the new season and get behind the team from the start.

To all blues .
This is where we need to show patience and understanding.
The board have delivered once again.
All concerns have been met with a response and with change.
The club have undoubtedly listened to us and have brought about the changes we demanded.
They have invested heavily again and made changes at the top to hopefully bring stability and success.
They (in my opinion) cannot have done any more over the last 2 seasons to show the fans that they mean business and are seriously attempting to make this club great again in the eyes of the football world.
We now need to show them the very best aspects of what it means to be a Evertonian.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 14:37:31
Perhaps the bubble will get bigger who knows? I'm a lot more optimistic than I was previously after yesterday's activity. Earlier this morning Sky Sports News showed our opening fixture possible starting 11 vs last seasons starting 11 and it was something like 9 different players compared to then. It won't be like they showed though, for a start Andre Gomes is injured I'm led to believe and Zouma still hasn't been ratified yet but the team looked a lot better on paper.

Many teams look to have strengthened well during this window. The likes of West Ham, Fulham and Wolves particularly have caught my eye with some good signings. I'm quite upbeat and looking forward to 5:30pm tomorrow.

It did although that will be judged on what kind of season we have.
I’m sure Brands wanted a few more out but getting rid of players was always going to be tough cause of wages, but I still see few more going abroad, especially teams looking for cheap prices bolasie is my biggest concern as he ain’t getting a game with our options and I don’t want him at club doing nothing, he is too good for that so could cause problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 10:32:27
I'm not sure what made me happier yesterday, the quality signings or Phil Thompson's face. You could reach out and touch his disappointment it was that obvious. Unlucky Phil, for once your pals at sky were forced to talk about us rather than them over the road and you couldn't take it.

More importantly now is the need to back the manager, Moshiri clearly has. So let's do our part. We've got a few new players that need to understand that on our day we can be the best supporters in the land.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - I’m sure Phil Thompson was bereft at the fact liverpool didn’t sign Gomes, Bernard and Mina. He’ll just have to do with the 2nd most expensive keeper on the planet, Naby Keita, Shaqiri and Fabinho. Wipe your tears Phil.

Great reply Ed0333, and I agree with the quality of your signings. It’s just a shame Phil Thompson has never had the class to let his knowledge of the game transcend his ire for our great football club.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - Phil Thompson is actually a really nice guy mate and oozes class. I don’t watch sky sports on match day as I don’t live in the UK but if he does denigrate Everton I’m sure he does it in a laddish, jocular way and no I’ll will is meant on his behalf. He has family and friends that are Everton supporters so he joshes for the camera. It just makes good television.

I'm really happy with yesterday. I hope the ones who don't look like they are part of plans (Vlacic, bollasi and besic) move on over next couple of days - Besic goes with big respect as I always felt he tried 100%.

No matter what - we are going to see exciting football and goals. Signed best wingers since kanchelskis!

I hope Zouma or Mina starts with Keane - we have a bedding in period but fixtures have been very kind - a good start is essential.

I don't think we will see a day like that again - that's credit to M and M -I hope from now on it just needs one or two for a touch up rather than 5-6 overall

Let's hunt the Wolves on Saturday - COYB.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - can i just ask all our supporters to show a bit of patience and not expect miracles from the start, as you say sobs there will be a bedding in period and not everyone will hit the ground running i expect, the signs look good though and i think we are all excited about the coming season and the new signings look quality as well, but it is a new manager, new system and quite a few new faces so lets just enjoy the ride and not get carried away too much COYB..

10 Aug 2018 08:33:01
Agree 100% - we have to stop getting new managers every year. Let s see a Silva team rather than a moyes / Martinez / Koeman / Allerdyce team.
New stadium new owners new manager new DOF - all marked improvements. As fans we need to show the passion and make teams fearful of Goodson.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 09:32:53
That is what I was trying to say yesterday Ed025.not being negative. just that I will be excited possibly down the road. Just trying to be calm and patient for now. I will also be much happier if the Premier League approve Zouma.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me too degs..

10 Aug 2018 10:24:24
Patience of course but also a note of caution. Silva has to find that magic formula of bedding in players without going on a losing streak because that leads to loss of confidence. My thoughts are that it will be a few weeks and games before we see if Silva and his Staff have produced a Squad capable of finishing above 8th, if we finish top 7 in a first Season that will be success. I also believe that Usmanov will become involved and that will mean there is a chance that Everton will become even stronger.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 10:43:26
Luckily we have a set of fixtures this season that will help to get us off to what should be a good start. I expect with the exception of Digne we won't see the new players till a couple of weeks into the season though while they get used to the squad. Looking good though.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Aug 2018 10:47:17
All of the sensible voices last year (And growing louder towards the end of last season) were arguing the same valid point.

Obviously regime change was called for and to back up all of our various posts, we mostly stated that we knew it was a big mess and needed strong leadership and TIME to fix.

Wow! What another fun packed window.
Beats the days of watching every team buy good players and we have to scramble through the bargain bucket.

My point is:
We all cried for change but all backed up the call with common sense. We knew that regardless of a new management team, and lots of players that it'd take a while to repair the damage. We all stated that what we wanted to see was an obvious effort on and off the pitch. And already we can all see we have that.

We must continue to be open minded and knowledgeable football fans. It was a massive disaster and one most of us didn't see coming.
The powers listened and reacted brilliantly.

Bottom line is We all stated that we wanted to see effort and a desire to play the game the right way. Sure pre season blah blah but if we lose a few at the start, we all have to stick by the team and appreciate the amount of work that is happening.

I think our league position may not change much
7th I feel is a great position for us. The thing that is important this year, is to get and identity on the pitch. And to close that 15 to 20 point gap to the top teams. If we can end 7th but still with a chance of doing something on the last day of the season, that'd be fantastic.

Sure a cup would be brilliant and so would 6th of higher but as much as we should dream, we need perspective.

The great thing about the last 12 . months is the owner has really shown his worth. He has backed this club 100% he has learnt some harsh public lessons and boy hasn't he.
He is the real deal and in a few years so will we.

Spurs are about to hit an Arseanl decade of stagnation. They bought no one and that big stadium is 100% the reason why. It's going to be ration packs for them for a few season Now. We will leap frog them as they'll surely sell Kane and Ali next summer. The really interesting thing will be if and when our new home opens, do we go on a path of osterity? I somehow think not. COYB.

What a buzz that recruitment has given everyone, now to give them time to gel together.
I hope Zouma goes through as well as that will give us the 2 cb's we all wanted.
Can see a few surprises to come in the exit column before the European transfer window closes (won't say who I'd like to go) as Brands and Silva keep working on who they want and trust and after the job they have done so far they have my trust and faith.

Great business this window, finally got some creativity in midfield, if defence gels we're looking a strong unit. May take a few games but looks like a vast improvement all over the park in quality. Overall a very good transfer window. Now it’s up to us fans to back this team to the hills and manage expectations. It’s not going to instantly click, the signings we’ve made have been of high calibre but they will need time to integrate and take on board the managers ideologies, as will the rest of the squad. Win, lose or draw they need our full backing and confidence for the season ahead. COYB.
