Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

I was thinking regarding what's happened since Moyes left. Are we as the fans partially to blame.

Do we have u realistic expectations for are club. From the outside you'd probably say we are a mid table team nothing more.

Yet when a manager comes in and produces a mid table finish we are all instantly calling for his head.

Food for thought?

From an outside point of view I suppose that’s what people might see or think, however as you know being an evertonian Nil Satis Nisi Optimum runs through us like Blackpool rock, cut us we bleed royal blue, expectations should never be anything less than being the best club in the world, disappointment is borne season after season, yet we hope that the next game will bring us joy and we can hold our heads high once again and enjoy watching match of the day and reading the echo. Now we have a world class manager, the promises of a world class ground, a billionaire owner and hopefully another in waiting to invest, the world class team needs building now because nothing else is good enough for world class fans, and to those who are not Everton fans they won’t get what everton is and we won’t care what their perception is. So in answer to your question our expectations should always be unrealistic until such times as we are once again world class.

{Ed025's Note - that cheered me up mate..

I personally don't think we have unrealistic expectations. If we didn't show our displeasure at the results then the board would think we are happy and not change the manager. It is the fans that make the board become more ambitious who then drive the manager for better results.

Are we mid table? Probably, but we should always strive to be better. If we don't then we may as well pack in and fold as a football club.

I think the question that I would ask as opposed to us fans having unrealistic expectations is, are we unlucky as a club? We never seem to have anything go for us whether its decisions on the field, getting an easier draw in the cup competitions or decisions off the field such as financial fair play ruling etc. All these things have meant that we find ourselves battling against everything every season hence it effects where we finish. It appears that decisions always go in favour of the so called "big six".

Not bleak just media and a protest that every Club undergoes. Part of our Clubs fuzzy PR problem (Ed002 doesn't like that) combined with communication and executive responsibility is a vast field and one needing grasp. Our Club is not unique. Our fans need to accept/ understand the appointment of Brands and his skills (Ed002 astutely points out) . Fruition is long term. For me I am surprised at CA's acceptance of our offer but very pleased.

I’d suggest any of the PR problems are historically rooted in fan behaviour. Think Big C’s post (above) about expectation is closely linked to this. The club could have dealt with things better on occasions but So could he fans. Think AC spoke well about the recent incidents in the press conference yesterday.

Great to hear Gomez is back in training. Time will tell how much the injury has affected his psyche. Let’s hope he can get back to the level we know he is capable of.

Let’s hope for a win against Brighton and a brace from Kean.

So the CA era begins now with Tosun leaving for Palace on loan. Excited to see the calibre of player we will get compared to the last few years. The question is, how many more do we need to trim from the squad before we can bring better players in?

About 15! And preferably on permanent deals rather than loans with us still paying bulk of their wages!

Tosun will do it for Palace, wait and see.

Hopefully he does, so we have a chance of getting a bigger chunk of his transfer fee back.
Shame China have a salary cap kicking in soon too. Would have been brilliant to off load 3 or 4 for crazy money.

Tosun is a very good striker.

{Ed025's Note - i have seen nothing that convinces me about that DFS, i know all strikers need better service but he has been very poor when presented with chances for us mate..

10 Jan 2020 22:07:15
I have to agree. When has he looked like a good striker? He scored a few when he first joined but since then when he has played he has missed chance after chance. Now I appreciate goals aren't everything but unlike DCL he is slow, can't really hold the ball up and can't play off the shoulder. He is limited in what type of set up he can play in and I'm not sure Palace will play to his strengths either.
Saying that though I do hope he does well because he has conducted himself well during his time here.

To slow for the Prem. if your not a quick striker then you need a lot of skill. He has neither.

Watched him play a few times for turkey always looks dangerous and a different player, i'd like to have seen him have a good run of games for us along side calvert lewin the lads confidence must be shot, hopefully he can get some goals for palace.

Just look at peter crouch and Emile Heskey if you want to see how national team form and club form should never be compared. Not to mention Messi for Argentina in tournaments.

They just can't be compared.

{Ed025's Note - gerrard, lampard and barnes were never at their best on the international stage either smit..and add fowler to that as well mate..
