Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Goodison today - great atmosphere and great result.

Had the pleasure of chatting to a couple of the Norwegian supporters club members who were visiting in numbers this weekend - top lads.

Have to say we have missed Bainsey - that guy is different class; thank God he's back and managed to complete 90 minutes with aplomb, despite Knockheart's best efforts!

I think Tosun is starting to impress too which is good to see - hopefully he can really kick on through to the end of the season.

Jags was also on fine form - another welcome return! Onwards and upwards lads - COYB!

Nice to see Baines and Jags back isn't it BT. I agree about Tosun. Looked a bit lost at times but he's busy enough and definitely has something about him.

Second that BT. The three in Jags, Coleman and Baines back in that back line is a massive boost.

I've said this more than a dozen times but how do we replace Baines? There's no-one at the club even close to him and to get equivalent is going to cost us 50mil.

Made up with Cenk as well and he looks a good player. Let's hope he gets a run in the team.

Totally agree but moving forward we need to find quality players to come in eventually for Baines and Coleman.

Very reluctant to say that I think that's us across the line just in case I jinx it but I do think so especially as other results went our way.
Hopefully that will encourage a more flowing style of play. I say hopefully because we've had a couple of false dawns this season. However, right now I'll take what I'm given.

{Ed025's Note - not great glen but a deserved win..

Beg to differ, first 45 mineuts as well as we have played all season. Just one grip, with baines on, Rooney, who has missed two this season, should not have taken the pen.

Today was an excellent result. Keane has copped some stick this year, but when your offsiders for the majority of the year has been schniderlan Martina and Williams they would make Maldini look bad. With Jags, Coleman and Baines and with Tom in front it just made things a Hell of a lot easier for Keane and he was very very solid. Good to see Schniderlan or Martina not on the bench and Davy Klassen get a run and the Everton Faithful showing there appreciation when he came on!

Sometimes things happen to a team, players get band or injuries then you play players together you normally wouldn't, I think with Rooney playing in a deep role, he has more vision the gueue has, he can start an attack, let be honest gueue tackels then not alot, so this may be the way forward till the end of the season.

They said it of Rooney 2 seasons ago that with his skillset and legs beginning to go his future position would be deeper. Sam himself said that is where he sees Rooney playing and then proceeded to play him as an attacking No 10. Let's see after today if Sam realises we can now play more flowing football.

Great result today, looking at other results I would think we are safe now.
Strange bench from big Sam, Klassen and Baningime on there, not complaining, about time.
Schneiderlin not even on the bench. Wahoo. Finally the penny drops Sam.

This looks more like a 'i want to keep my job' squad, rather than a 'I'm here to save you squad.

Spot on Smit666. Looks like he was between the lines telling the truth (some of his comments) about making sure we were safe first. That Team today did okay but and it is a big but how would they cope against a pressing side. Brighton did today what we have been doing all season and that is inviting sides onto us. Despite some of the Boo boys I actually thought Bolasie did his job. With two wide men running at a defence it makes it much easier for the likes of Sigurdson as a No 10. Actually thought that Rooney did well in the deep role as well (not the pen though, he should not be allowed to pull rank again, that should have been Bainsie's) .

We’ll find out how they do against a pressing team when City come to visit. Can’t wait.

Not bad so far but I think we need to be a bit cuter getting it into the box as they have some big units in there.

This team could actually win this one. It’s almost like the old days, hopefully not too old for some legs.

Must win game otherwise the anti B.S. voices are going to go ape.

Chalkie it's like the old days because 3 of the back 4 were playing over 10 years ago for us and are still the best in their positions. Moyes got them in for a total spend of less than £10 million. Neither Martinez, Koeman nor Allergy have so far unearthed replacements!

Won 2-0 Myteam. But in the Summer he still has to go or even once we are mathematically safe. If Mr Moshri is serious about taking this Club forward then Mr Alardyce and his ilk are not and have proved they are not the people to do it.

Thats what happens SA when you play a left back at left back and not play a really poor right back at left back. With todays results were just about safe, so please mr mosihri can you now dispose of SA please . Want him out of our great club . coyb.

Never stated that B.S. must stay. he has to go. My point was simply questioning how big the fall out would have been if we lost.
Great performance (it's all relative)
2 tricky fixtures out of 8 and we have a chance of getting on the mix for 7th again. Shame Burn and Leic won. Let's hope Watford get nothing.

Sorry NBTB. it's not really about Moyes. it's about how bad we have been since him with our defensive signings. Chalkie mentioned that it was a great improvement albeit with old legs and I was trying to point out that the reason they are old legs is because they have been with us a long time and so far any attempt to sign replacements has been futile. They are still the best we have. We WILL need to replace 3 of them asap. And if Keane does not gain some consistency (he was good today but has been at fault for many goals this season) he will also possibly need replacing. Sorry if the Moyes mention touched a nerve. I think we all know how long the 3 of Baines, Seamus and Jags have been with us. Only Distin has been replaced. by Williams! Need I say more?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2018 22:33:50
I agree on talking about Moyes, but it’s a valid point in terms of us not having signed decent replacements across the back line. Jags, Baines and Coleman have been starters for years and nobody has come close to displacing any of them. Coleman is still a class act but Jags and Baines are coming to the end and all we did was bring in Martina and Mangala.

I want B.S. out. But after the last game. Let's not make ourselves look anymore of a plonker than we already do. Keep it classy.

Thanks for seeing what I was saying Windsor. I would add that we also brought Stones in and have since sold for megabucks to a slightly successful side. Yes he makes mistakes, but he is certainly better than any others we brought in since. We also had the guy at Arsenal to look at but he chose to go back to Germany first before ending up at Arsenal. We have brought a bunch of great kids in. but that's all they are at the mo. Kids. We need 25 year olds with experience. Jags came from a relegated Sheffield Utd. Coleman from Irish League and Baines from relegated Wigan. Look at Robinson at Liverpool and Harry McGuire to see what was available in recent years. There are other class acts around in the Championship and teams being relegated. We just need to get in there first like we did 10 years ago.
