Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

10 Mar 2019 13:10:39
I thought we'd turned a corner judging by our first half performance but yet again we conceded 1 goal and fall apart. The worrying aspect for me was just how fit Newcastle looked in the last 20 mins compared to us.
I don't agree with taking off the best players in the game as i feel we lost our threat and in turn we had no outlets.

We changed a formation that was working incredibly well and that seemed to help Newcastle. a lot of peole are blaming pickford and I agree he was erratic to day the least and he obviously needs serious competition and fast but for me the blame has to lay at the managers feet.
He had no reason whatsoever to make the changes he did. There were 20 odd mins left and Newcastle were beaten. They couldn't cope with Bernard and his link up play with digne was stretching Newcastle and keeping them from from venturing too far forward. He then takes richarlisom off and Newcastle were free.

Yes pickford messed up and could've been red carded but he wasn't and he hadn't conceded.
Sorry but for me i am starting to think we have some really good players that could be wasted under the current regime. I'm not calling for his head but he is starting to worry me.

Pickford needs to take a good look at himself.

It's the way Prickford smiles when he does mess up that gets me.

Said this a while back penysarn. thinks it's funny all the time when he messes up. it's not.

To put it politely he appears to have difficulty with computing.

I know bluemarc why? and this is englands No1.I know he's young but he's not that young.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 19:45:56
I wouldn't read too much into him smiling after a mistake, we all react differently when we mess things up and this is probably just the way he reacts. I highly doubt the smiling is out of happiness, the lad does have personal pride.
No getting away from the fact that he could do with taking out of the limelight but, unless MS is brave enough to give the other young lad a go, I can't see it happening. I don't think MK is good enough to step in and do a job for us, some of you may think different. The only bonus side to it is that Pickford is still young and will learn from these mistakes. If he's still making clangers next season then it will become more of a problem. As others have said in various posts, a bit of competition for his place may help the lad.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2019 01:56:33
More baffling was the dropping of Schnids, these last couple of weeks we were on the shoots of recovery, so strange he never started, even more so not bringing him on, when we were 2 nil up, he has had his critics, me included, but the guy has stood up to the plate this season, played in 11 games and on the losing side only twice, three if you include a penalty shoot out.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 23:03:11
First of all I reckon all of you were praising him at the World Cup? Secondly the Toon fans broke him and they won that game. Please don't turn into body language experts as you have no idea. Yes he was erratic but I'm finding it very hard not to swear at you right now. Did you clap when he saved the peno? I'm guessing yes. Very fickle.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Mar 2019 07:17:05
I'm no body language expert, and I'm not fickle but if the lad has messed up then take it on the chin and get on with it and grow up.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Mar 2019 07:19:45
Good call that big nev. The bloke (having been the real Schneids to turn up the last two games, good partnership with Gueye) posts on twitter big thanks to the fans and then he is dropped. Are we seeing a big ego I am right (despite evidence to the contrary) everyone else is wrong going on from Silva I wonder.

So that is the difference between a manager and a coach! Newcastle down and out 2 down at half time yet manage to turn the game around. We went defensive bringing Mina on and looked more vulnerable! What was that substitute all about? Attack is the best form of defence and with Richarlison we had an outlet to hit on the counter attack. Benitez and his Newcastle side have embarrassed us and sorry the managers in game management yet again has to be questioned.

How do you not only let a side you had dominated for 45 minutes back in the game by conceding one goal you actually let them win the game. Questions need to be asked, one of them is what would Rafa do with the talent we have at his disposal?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2019 14:11:54
We would be doing a lot better under Raffa that is certain but sadly he was at Liverpool so would not want him on those grounds.
I have to admit though that the state we are in right now I could swallow my pride as I long to see Everton get there pride back.

10 Mar 2019 15:37:03
Rafa wouldn't come and Moshiri wouldn't have him.
Might as well talk about Conte, Simeone, Ancelotti or Mourihno. None of them would come either.
We need to understand where we are in the pecking order of managers.

10 Mar 2019 15:51:29
Newcastle are now only 3 points behind us that shows how poor of a season this has been as man for man we should be head and shoulders above them yet we don't look it. We are now playing catch up to Watford, Leicester, Wolves and even West Ham to even be considered a top 10 side and that is worrying.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 16:17:23
Exactly Smit mate Rafa hasn't set the world alight at Newcastle, dc needs to get a grip, there is no evidence he would be any better at all.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 17:10:25
Hasn't set the world alight at Newcastle? Got them promoted first time of asking then got a top 10 finish with basically the same side they had in the Championship, and hasn't had any were near the backing and funds that our managers have been afforded, so to say he hasn't been a success at Newcastle is just stupid, he has been and would do ten times better with the players we have than Silva has. The man is a winner and has plenty of trophies on his CV something our last 3 appointments were lacking.

At present I think Everton would be a no no to a top manager and seen as a poison chalice to others. However if we were to lose Silva and could not temp a top manager, I would certainly consider the Wolves manager. He is at present looking a european placing in the eye.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 17:39:50
He is mate a far better choice.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but why would he even consider coming to everton, wolves have a good team, they have money and as things stand are far more progressive than everton GB...please tell me im wrong..

10 Mar 2019 17:56:22
GB are you being serious. Or just on the pop pre-dinner. There is mountains of positive evidence to ensure Benitez ability. There is also mountains of evidence to show why Silva should never have been appointed. I agree we should not fire Managers willy nilly but surely the best way of ensuring that is to do due dilligence in the first place. The bloke was even sacked for not wearing Club colours .

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 17:57:02
No you are right Ed, i would prefer Marco to stay mate and have a few windows to sort this out but as we keep saying we can't change managers every 5 mins, but he is walking a fine line at the mo, i can understand why some want him to walk.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so can i mate..

10 Mar 2019 18:23:22
Hey Billy mate when he was at Liverpool he had loads of cash and did well, he took Newcastle up but they have hovered around the bottom all season, i personally would not want him at our Club, but hey mate its a game of opinions.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 19:42:52
If Benitez is as good as people say and wanted to leave Newcastle then why would he want to come to us?
Surely he would have the top teams in Europe after him?
Martinez not good enough but gets the Belgium job and does well. Koeman not good enough and gets the Holland job, oh, and is doing well.

Forget about Benitez and get over it he ain't coming. Silva is in charge and will be for the next couple of seasons.
We need to support the team and see what happens.
If some of you want to live in fantasy land about Benitez coming or Allardyce coming back then so be it.

Me. I'm just going to get on with supporting Silva until he's not here anymore.

I think Rafa would be a good choice but doubt it will happen. Got to agree with those who say he's been successful with Newcastle. Did well to get them back in the prem and has had his hands tied behind his back for the majority of his tenure. Look at how he got his team playing in the second half even at two down, he got their heads up and got them playing again. On the other hand, whenever we concede a goal we seem, for the most part, to capitulate. The Newcastle team seem to play for their manager, can we say the same about us?
ED025 hit the nail on the head over the Wolves manager, there's zero chance of that happening. They are a team that can cement top half finishes in this league with their wealth and their recruitment policy. He has been shaping his team for a few years so why would he come to us to start over again?

See smit, like a politician you obfuscate. I support Everton with all my heart, I cannot speak for DC but would bet he is the same. That's fine BCT but it wouldn't do any harm to come on here when we win and put some positive comments on aswell regardless of your hate for the manager.
Problem is, you don't. Like DC you hide away in the shadows rather than write anything positive on here. The picture that paints with me and, judging by a lot of other posters on here aswell is of a negative supporter who is on a crusade to destroy Silva This is how you get your message out there.
Hmmm. a little bit like a politician. Ironic eh.
Try treating this forum as a forum for discussion and not just a billboard for your hatred to the manager and owners.

Guernsey you seem to change your opinion to suit the eds. you xant seriously knock Benitez. no matter who he managed in the past he would be a massive signing for the club. it would be similar to moyes coming ( in terms of welcomed change) . he IS a proven winner and is obviously looking for a club that will back him and leave to it. wether taht club is us? . I don't know. but you can't knock the man's desire and ability . sorry mate but you blindly support Silva and let's face it . he's completely out of his depth in the prem . I'm as big a blue as anyone on here and I've seen success but I have to concede that who ever is giving mr moshiri advice needs taking out and burying.

Smit, very silly. Hatred for owners and Silva really! Do I know them personally, is it a personal criticism? Of course not. Never mind though eh, I am Yet another one driven away from this forum.

BCT I couldn't give two hoots if you've done horrible things in your life. This is an Everton forum not a confession box.

I see what i see. You do not use this forum for everyday chit chat about Everton you use it to dig out the manager at every opportunity.
I have asked you numerous times to show me a post where you have congratulated the team when they have got a result. As far as i can see from your posts or replies you haven't.

You call Silva a fraud when all he is doing is trying to do his job, whether you think he is good or bad at it by calling him a fraud, with nothing to back it up you are only embarrassing yourself.

Surely you can see how that makes you look to other posters on here.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Mar 2019 10:56:47
Dark clouds, I didn't compare Rafa to Silva I said the difference is there to see by one being a successful manager who didn't change his tactics even at 2 goals down the other changes personnel and formation that suited the opposition as all 3 goals came from wide positions which prior to the Richarlison/ Mina substitution we had covered as the Newcastle wide men were scared to be caught to far forward and be hit on the counter. I have advocated Benitez for manager since we got rid of Martinez and believe regardless of his Liverpool past he would come to us as we are a good project with backing for the right manager, he also still has his house in Caldy which his wife still lives in fulltime. Its a no brainer, he's out of contract in the summer so there would be no compo other than to Marco for his sacking. I don't want a manager Merry go round at the club but we need to appoint a competent manager/ coach who has a successful background with experience of being in charge of top players and egos. I feel if we persevere with Marco and take this form into next season we will be in real danger at the wrong end of the table.

Pickford is mad. His choices are crazy. He makes saves you don't expect him to make but makes decisions that you don't want him to make. He is a good goalkeeper and does need time. We do however need a quality goalkeeper for competition. His skill level is unquestionable but his decision making is certainly questionable. When he told the crowd to calm down in the second half of the derby was stupid as well. He got a lot of grief for that. I agree about losing his head against Newcastle. Look what he did in the last derby. He needs to contain his emotions and be more professional. I wouldn't show him the door any time soon nonetheless.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2019 12:26:14
Not the door mate but a rest on the bench, get his head straight, I think he maybe believes all the hype. As others have mentioned, goalkeepers tend to be better as they get older. Every other position - cb needing a little more experience perhaps - can be young legs but goalkeeper needs maturity.

11 Mar 2019 11:06:02
Stek doesn't cut it in my opinion though mate. I'd stick with Pickford till the end of the season and buy quality competition. Although I would let him know that he would have been dropped otherwise and if he does a Newcastle again he's benched even if Jags has to go in goal.

Pickford made those mistakes as he played on emotion rather than the game you could see in his face when he looked at Newcastle fans. It was unprofessional especially after playing in derby where we played with pride effort and discipline. Silva should have big words with him and drop him from next game he let everyone down today 2-0 up and should take 3pts which would have all fans feeling we're turning a corner 7pts from 9, now it's 4 from 9 and back to where we were prior to Cardiff.
Silva cannot be blamed for today, that is seriously bad defending regardless of tactics or all the rubbish of zonal or man marking. Do your job as a defender.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

10 Mar 2019 07:05:39
With Alardyce or any other Manager 2-0 up and Everton would keep what they have. Yes Pickford was very unprofessional but the buck always stops at the top. Yes those such as DC and myself are critical of Silvas appointment, surely most of you can now see why. I am convinced, more so than with Martinez and Koeman (Alardyce was always temporary) , that if Silva remains, we will only go in one direction.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im really torn myself BCT, he has made mistakes thats for sure but i still feel he needs a couple of windows and his own players in before we can judge him properly mate..

10 Mar 2019 08:50:51
He can't work a miracle with this squad, all previous Mangers have failed with more or less the same group of players, so what makes you anti Silva advocates think that another Manager could improve everything, maybe with a magic wand! Get real, it's not the problem of Silva it's a bad recruitment policy over the last 3 years especially when expectations were so high because of the money pumped in.
What would a new manager do? First thing, buy buy and buy a new squad.
All Managers available have fail at previous clubs with the exception of a few, there is no way we could convince them to come to Everton at this stage.
Those players are professional you are not dealing with School Kids they all have a job to do when they cross that white line unfortunately for us at this period are opponents are doing it better.
Get of Silva 's back, let us get this season over with and start again with Silva and a higher calibre of new recruits.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is hardly the "same group of players". Richarlison, Bernard, Gomes, Mina, Zouma and Digne were all added. in the summer.}

10 Mar 2019 09:11:31
Yes he has add these players and in my opinion they have improved our performances with the exception of Mina, probably due to injury, but Ed002 it the squad of 25-30 in Everton’s case
We are playing far far better football under Silva than we ever played under Allardyce, Koeman, Unsworth period.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 09:17:12
Uran this is what I mean about those that keep saying not his players. As Ed says 6 players in all Silvas add to that Lookman in from loan and that is a total of 7 all of whome have played and 5 regularly, that is the core of the side. Brands and Exec positions good appointments, I cannot and will not knock that.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 09:25:46
Get off his back indeed. His appointment is an investment, in business or indeed managerial/ essential post recruitment, you look at a persons resume', their job history, check with those vouching for them and do proper dilligence. Silva's CV does not at this level stand scrutiny. Certainly in the Prem his history and current shows after 6 months it goes down hill.

Remember all his signings had little pre season and are in their 1st year in the prem.
Football is a little different to everyday business so can't really compare.
I can see a glimmer of a team in there, is it perfect? No. Silva needs time to build this team into one who can attack the top 6 and we as fans need to give him time.
If there has been no improvement at this time next year then he will have to go but we cannot turn into a fan base that only gives managers half a season and panics at the 1st sign of a dip.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 10:38:40
Guys Silva and Pickford need to go asap, the amoubt of points these two have cost us is unbelievable, also need Keane, Mina and Zouma gone and three new CBs to replace. If we get them 5 out and good replacements, we can solidify in mid table next year and then look to push up 2020/ 2021 season. if changes are not made, we will be relegated next year, if we are lucky enough to survive this one, Cardiff are only 9 points behind us but they have so much more fighting spirit in the team than us, at this stage of the season, its this that keeps you up.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Mar 2019 10:40:22
If we finish in the bottom half 9f the table though I can't help but think the weaknesses of Silva outmatch the strengths. I like Silva and I'm not hunting his head but we made some quality additions, we should not be taking backward steps in the hope of taking forward ones in the future. He needs to show that we can defend set pieces also. It's like a disability for us.

Playing a bit of pretty football can still get you relegated, yes he has improved the squad, well Brandts has so why are we lower in the league? To get under 60 points is poor but to get under 50 in a season is totally unexeptable to me and many others, complete under achievement, even though a manager needs time he has to be improving things to earn that time.
